2008-12-07 Thread Lap1994

have to buttons in my mouse, left and right, isnt this nice? Why noone had
this simple idea of right click=foreground and left click=background
before? I mean, even microsoft paint has this function O_o

[Gimp-user] Tools window

2008-12-07 Thread Lap1994
Whats up with the tools window? See my view:
All the tools can be selected pressing a key combination such as A, S, P,
CTRL E blahblahblah. So, less points for it.
The menu that was once was there is no more there. Less points for it.
The tool options has move, by myself, to a combination of dockable
dialogues because putting it on the tools windows only makes less room for
the image I will edit. Less points to it.
Closing that means closing the whole app. Less points to it.
The minimize button that was once there is no more there. Less points for
it.
Conclusion: Its points-less for me having that displayed in my desktop
however I cant close or minimize that!
How annoying...

 Starting from one layer:

 Add a new transparent layer.

Set the transparency to 50% in the tool options, not in the layer

Draw on this layer the things you want, when finished, select by color
transparent on this layer (threesold 0), invert the selection.

Go to the original layer, cut, then flat the layers.

 Hope this helps

Hmm... There is no button to do this? Only ways using features that are
not made exactly for it? Developers read this mail list? Can I suggest
this? A simple toogle box that change mix opacity to exact opacity. Well,
in that case. I will use masks, hope any developer read this.

 how much the color change.

Let's try a step by step solution so that your chances of mistake are
 diminshed:

 1) open layers dialog (ctrl + l)
 2) right click on layer, select Add layer mask
 3) on the dialog that apears, choose White (full opacity)
 4) Pick the pencil, black color, choose 50% opacity an start painting
   - you will be cretaing gray colr on the mask, which means your
image, at the corresponding pixels, will be translucent. That
will be depicted by a gaye checkered pattern you will be able
to notice in the places you are painting
 5) Before saving, click on the layer thumbnail on tehlayers dialog, so
that it becomes the active drawable. Otherwhise, you will be saving
 only the mask itself
 6) Be sure to save he file ina file format which accepts
translucency - such as .png (don't try .jpg or .gif)

 Happy gimping!

[Gimp-user] Opacity

2008-05-16 Thread Lap1994
Hello. I want to draw a image with a 50% opacity border.
When I change the opacity of the pencil and use it, the selected color and
the color where I use the pencil, combine itself. I do not want it, I want
draw a pixel with exact 50% of alpha and the color selected. Like a bitmap
with a alpha channel.

Do not want: black pixel + %50 opacity, white color = silver
Want: black pixel + %50 opacity, white color = 50% opacity white pixel

[Gimp-user] Things GIMP do not have, or I do not know if have

2008-04-23 Thread Lap1994
Here, a list of things GIMP do not have, in my mind:

A ellipse tool to draw ellipse, as a rectangle tool to draw rectangle, and
a polygon tool to draw ah, you know.
A method to draw text using a system like boards systems to change text
properties, font, style, size stuff. Like using bbold here!/b
A way to draw curves.
A way to deny modifications in a layer, and a way to change this property
A method to organize layers.
A method to assign a same mask to various layer modifying one mask
A gradient color with more colors. Like Flash where you can set more than
two colors in a gradient.
I key shortcut to stop drawing layer outline

Here ends my list.

More any suggestion well capable to pass non-noticed? Foward here.

Or change the style of the font. Eg: Here is bold, and here italic, here

 I un-installed GIMP-2.4.5 then I re-installed it after verifying the md5

 The problem is the same.
 What can I do else?

[Gimp-user] Animation solution!

2008-04-10 Thread Lap1994
As everyone know. A animation is various frames drawned one after other.
To create a animation, the current frame and the previous frame have to
looks like, however have to have a difference. To this happen you have to
look the current frame and the previous frame, and then check if is
changed correct and if is changed where you want.

That waste a time. Because you have to toggle the visible of frames to
check and check until you have certain that is correct.

Well, the solution is very very simple. Is just make the previous frame
50% transparent. Then the current frame will have a shadow of the previous
frame. This way you can see what is what.

[Gimp-user] Gimp possibilities

2008-03-25 Thread Lap1994
Gimp is a very good image editor. It can edit scaned image, eg photos.
Paint scaned drawings, manga skecths or inked drawings. Or simply create a
image from the nothing.

Gimp have very good filters created by very good developers, and very good
tools. Have blur, motion blur, noise, each filter can be used for
diferrents things, depending of the wanted result. Have pencil, brush and
a spray for paint, each can be used, too, for diferrents things.

Some techniques can be used to improve your images using Gimp resources,
eg yellow supernova + blur = sun or white spray + cian background = sky
with clouds. Using some of these you can create images from nothing.

You can use layers to add nice effects to your image or organize diferrent
things, such as house and scenary.

A good and simple recourse is the text with effect. You draw a WHITE text,
click in it layer, cut, paste in the MASK of other layer. Finished, text
with effect.

Yes, is really a very good image editor and manipulator. But only work
when you know what you are doing. If do not know, just train until know.
