You need to select the parts that you want to remove, not the parts you want to
keep.

You can select that parts you want to keep, if it's easier, and then use
Invert selection from the Selection menu to switch it round.

Re: [Gimp-user] Time to fork BABL and GEGL

LOL

I'm not sure if it was meant as sarcasm or if it was serious. However, if
you are not personally prepared to maintain a develop fork, you might
reconsider publicly suggesting something that makes sense so little that
you'd need a microscope to expertly deal with it.

The topic of forking the libraries was born out of miscommunication. Could
we please finally bury this?

I agree with Alexandre. If I really do understand what Jon Nordby is
saying (see
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-developer-list/2014-November/msg00018.html
and
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-developer-list/2014-November/msg00023.html),
and if the other babl/GEGL/GIMP developers really are in agreement with
Jon Nordby (the babl roadmap leaves room for differing interpretations),
then there is no reason whatsoever for further discussion of forking
babl and GEGL to benefit GIMP.

[Gimp-user] Some Windows fonts are missing in GIMP

2014-11-09 Thread TimVanGorp
Hi everyone

I've got a strange problem after updating to the latest 2.8.14.
Some windows fonts (such as Century Gothic) are not showing up in GIMP's font
list anymore.

I've found one topic on the web advising to delete the Appdata/Local/fontconfig
cache, but that didn't help.
I've also removed and reinstalled GIMP, without success.

Can anyone solve this mystery?

Thank you in advance!

[Gimp-user] Help finding the right plugins and filters

2014-11-09 Thread April
Thanks for offering to help! I have found a couple of tutorials on G'MIC, but
it has so many options that I'm just not sure where to start. I have attached a
few pictures of different settings. Any help you can give me will be greatly
appreciated. Thanks so much!

April

April,

The process to emulate those looks will be dependent on what her
images
look like to start with. If you can post/send a few sample images I
can
probably point you in the right direction to get started.

If I had to guess I might lean towards VSCO film presets (you can get
similar presets from the G'MIC plugin as well).

[Gimp-user] Text Along Path: Keeps tying to corner of my canvas

2014-11-09 Thread GIMPISGIMP
Can someone tell me why in the wide world of sports gimp is deciding to do this
when I try to Text Along Path? I'd appreciate any help; nothing makes my blood
boil like software.

As you can see from the image, I have a path that the letters are beginning to
follow, but then it just decides the corner of my canvas is incredibly vital to
the completion of this function. I painstakingly lined up this curve exactly how
I needed it, and clicking up in the corner of the canvas was not one of the
steps I took in the creation process. It has also done this on two separate
paths I've created on this canvas. I've also tried making my text much smaller
in case it was a sizing issue; does the same thing. Hope someone is familiar
with this issue, and thanks in advance.
