Go to Edit > Preferences > Input Controllers and double click on Main Mouse Wheel to bring up the configuration dialog. Picture worth thousand words: http://pilobilus.net/img/mouse-scale-brush.jpg I think this setting should be a "default" - but meanwhile, you can set it up yourself. I also configure the GIMP to make the current brush "softer" or "harder" - that is, more or less fuzzy around the edge - in response to holding down Ctrl + Shift + Alt and scrolling the mouse wheel up and down. (This only works with VBR brushes.) Controlling brush size and hardness with the mouse wheel is way more efficient than constantly switching between brushes or leaving the canvas to drag slide controls around. :o) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
Re: [Gimp-user] Color Picker right-side bars not selectable, new "feature" or setting?
@Michael: Happens for both versions, on Ubuntu 16.04. Here is gif of it happening: https://i.imgur.com/qLcedls.gifv note the only time the slider moves is right click (moves 10 either direction) or dragging exactly where arrows are. Clicking on any of the bars does not move arrows. [Gimp-user] Color Picker right-side bars not selectable, new "feature" or setting?
I was editing an image with GIMP (2.8.16 and 2.8.22) and noticed that if I click Color Picker -> and try to click the bars on the ride-side column in the colorpicker they don't seem to move anymore. I can drag the arrows, and right click to get a percentage move, but before you could click and drag anywhere on the bars and it would allow you to accurately pick a color without having to manually find the arrows first. Is this a new "feature", or is there a setting or otherwise something that I can do to go back to old behaviour? Still wrong - try again with quotes "Richard@HomePC MINGW64 ~" "$ pacman -S base-devel \" "> mingw-w64-x86_64-glib-networking" (If that doesn't work I give up but I'm sure that the intent can be seen!) >Sorry, he above post didn't appear quite as intended. I did find the solution. It was starring me in the face the whole time. I'm usually under a crunch for time, so I need to find an editor, and I think GIMP will do. All I really do to these images is barely tweak exposure, gradient white to transparent and save to PSD files for the layout person. So for the gradient tool, using transparent to white, radial mode and a suitable offset you can check if any vignette remains before committing the gradient. example: http://i.imgur.com/VzDd7cS.jpg isolated half with a selection for comparison purpose. [Gimp-user] Using the Gradient tool
I'm locked into Photoshop until I can figure out how to use the gradient tool. I shoot catalog work, and I want to use GIMP and the Linux platform. However PS has me locked into the windows world. I shoot everything on a white background. Sometimes it's not as white as I want, and I need to tweak the corners. In PS I use the gradient tool, in the fashion of ForeGround [white] to transparent at around 75% opacity. I allows me to add a bit of white in the corners by dragging from the outside of the image to just inside it. How can this be done efficiently using GIMP. Minimal steps required is a bonus. I'm using Gimp to try and re-texture something in a unity game, but when I try and replace the file with the one I edited, it can't be done because the files are different sizes. The original file is around 600kb, after going through Gimp with the only real change being the color, it's 1mb, and I can't replace it.
