This list normally uses the english language!  I don't speak Dutch
or Flemish, but in google translate this is apparently

If you can open the photo in gimp, you can scale it (the individual
photo, and be careful where you export it - you might, or might not,
want to overwrite the original).

1. 'export' because 'Save' and 'Save As' only save gimp's own xcf
format. The export command will let you type the required suffix for
the filename (for me it always defaults to .png' on first use) and
works well for jpeg and png files, probably also works for some
other formats

2. Some photo formats might not be supported, e.g. the current apple
format (heic) might not be supported in older versions of gimp, or
might require dependencies which were not provided when your version
was built.  I'm currently running 2.10.30, that supports it but I
recall I had to add various dependencies after someone sent a heic
photo to a mailing list.

3. Raw photos need a plugin which probably doesn't support all
current camera raw formats.

4. If what you want is to produce smaller jpegs, pngs, etc then it's
probably easier to use 'mogrify' from ImageMagick.

There's nothing stopping anybody from translating GIMP to Galician. As soon as 
that's done, the translation will be included in the official distribution.

Availability of GIMP in any language (and how much complete the
translation is) directly depends on volunteers. It's up to people like

 In an an earlier version of GIMP in Filters/Map/Tile ... after generating
a new image of x columns and y rows, there were controls that allowed one
to then go into any of the iterated pieces and flip horizontally, flip
vertically, or both and in this way create tessellations. These additional
controls are no longer available in the newest version of GIMP
Filters/Map/Tile  I am not capable of writing the code to restore this
functionality. Do you know if anyone has the coding/scripting for this
functionality, or if any of the available plug-ins include this
functionality. If you send an email address I can send two .jpg files to
illustrate a single tile and the tessellated end product.

I would like to be to continue this type of image manipulation. Thanks in
advance for any and all help.

[Gimp-user] Query

I downloaded GIMP a few weeks ago. I wanted to change the background on a PDF 
file. The file was originally a photograph (JPG) which I converted to a PDF 
file using Soda PDF Pro 12.
The photograph was of a printed document.

Now some kind person  told me in order to change the background to white 
without disturbing the print (e.g. to change the background) I should do the 
following:

  1.  Load the PDF File
  2.  Click on 'Colors' (main menu)
  3.  Click on 'Map' (r.side menu)
  4.  Click on 'Color Exchange'.  (r. side menu)
  5.  Then in  the  'To Color' slot (lower of the two slots)  change  'Current' 
to 'White'.
I did this somehow and lo and behold the background to the page was WHITE  when 
I printed it out, with the text print standing out much better than in the 
original.

Unfortunately, I seem to have got muddled at stage 5.   When I now change  
'Current' to 'White' and then click on 'OK'  I find the  'To Color' slot has 
reverted to Black. What am I doing wrong?

I attach three screenshots.

  1.  Before changing the color: 'From  Color = 'Black' and 'To Color' =Black
  2.  After changing the color:  'From Color = 'Black' and 'To Color' = White
  3.  When I click the 'OK' button: 'From Color = 'Black and 'To Color' = Black
