 Which one of the attached?

Looks like you're using Microsoft Windows. (Windows 8? Vista? I can't tell)

The folder to remove would be C:\Users\John\.gimp-2.8 I think -- or rename it
so you can put it back later if desired. GIMP should create a new .gimp-2.8
folder on startup.

If GIMP 2.8 has never worked properly for you, it might be a problem with
migrating settings from version 2.6 in some cases. I don't know that there is
such a problem, though - I am speculating.

Both .gimp-2.6 and .gimp-2.8 (the ones that start with a . (dot) ). Your
troubles probably started when you installed Gimp and it migrated your
settings from .gimp-2.6 to .gimp.2.8

Problem solved and Gimp is much happier now! :-)

[Gimp-user] First Time User - Just a blank Gimp Screen

2014-08-16 Thread Planenuts
Hi,
I'm wondering if you don't have the docks hidden. I also got tricked
by this a few times, the first times I was trying GIMP. Hi the Tab key
(or check the menu Windows Hide Docks) to check if that's your
problem.
Have fun.

Jehan

I too have the same problem, a blank screen with no toolbox or options. Managed
to get a toolbox up and then the options dialog, but anytime I change tools, the
dialog disappears.

2014-08-02 Thread wayward_one
I'm just a first time user. The only thing I see is a very big and blank gimp
screen telling me to drag dialogs to the side. Is there Not a Default with lots
of nice widows and icons already there? How do i get to that point.
