I have installed GIMP version 2.6.12 on two identical machines,
Windows 764-bit and the program installed but will not open.  There is
the informationthat came up on the screen.

 Problem signature:

 Problem Event Name:  APPCRASH
 Application Name:    gimp-2.6.exe
 Application Version: 0.0.0.0
 Application Timestamp:   4f2efd76
 Fault Module Name:  libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll

libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll seems like a clue to me … I don't understand any
of the other stuff here.

 Fault Module Version:   2.24.8.0
 Fault Module Timestamp: 4f2500a4
 Exception Code:c005
 Exception Offset:   0001c00e
 OS Version:    6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
 Locale ID:   1033
 Additional Information 1:    97bd
 Additional Information 2:    97bd58ed0a3669728b37c1dd576f8751
 Additional Information 3:    4d52
 Additional Information 4:    4d527e55604cfa384fad8b0494da8aa7

I also installed this same program on my machine, Windows 7 64-bit
also, but itinstalled fine on mine and will run.  My machine is an
 older machine.

Just wondered if there are any ideas of what I could try to get this
program to work on those two machines.

Could http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.gimp.user/21283 be the
solution? That is, search the computer for files named
libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll, and rename any such files that are _not_
within the GIMP directory.

hope this helps,
-Kevin
