Re: [Gimp-user] Troubles with Windows 10

2019-09-23 Thread Rick Strong
I'm running GIMP 2.10.12 on Win 10.0.183xx. I was leery of Win 10 myself but
so far so good. It was a clean install on a new machine and seems OK to me.
However, I don't use it daily nor push it to the max. Of course, everyone's
system configuration is different.

Good luck,

As fa-flyingalone put it in their first paragraph:

"Windows 10 does not play nice with Gimp , read that a lot in other forum
and for
the most part Win 10 is not too bothered about helping out with " those
little

problems "seems to be the way they see it.”

So it sounds like your IT folks at work are going to have to set you up with
a partition running something other than Win 10 - perhaps a Mac or Linux
partition just to run GIMP on. If your employers require you to use GIMP, it’s
on them to provide an environment that supports it.

I'm not the one choosing the operating system, it's a work computer which
has to run Windows 10. Amongst other reasons, the software we use for all
our design work is Creo, which is windows only.

Hello Ken
Windows 10 does not play nice with Gimp , read that a lot in other forum and for
the most part Win 10 is not too bothered about helping out with " those little
problems "seems to be the way they see it.

If you want to look into community help types and help in general look at Linux
- these days it's easier than it used to be and a lot of operating systems can
be installed with a little common sense also reading the install guide and the
very helpful forums IF you should need that help , at the now I'm using
Netrunner Rolling it's a Manjaro derivative , 9 months and still going good ,
the occasional hiccup and the help is there when I need it , Mint is popular
also , spend a moment at http://distrowatch.com/ , if you decide on a ubuntu
family distro double triple check the reviews use with caution ( privacy )
(yours) , It is not difficult to run a Linux operating system and the admins of
the Linux O.S. are there for you and so is the community.
Sorry I cannot help with Windos 10
