I don't see any ads either, and I'm not using AdBlock. But I am using NoScript. The page seems to trip NoScript's anti-XSS (Cross-Site Scripting) defenses. NoScript claims it's logging details to the console but I never see any. In any event, I had to do an Unsafe Reload to get the page to work properly. The linked-to page is apparently search results. Another irritation, the single result link uses JavaScript rather than a simple HREF to link. Bogus. Keeps me from opening links in new tabs, which I do all the time. And then the page it opens is wrapped in frames for no good reason. I note from the site icon and URL format that they're running Loathsome Notes. That probably explains the craptacular web design. With Notes, Lotus/IBM seem to have an explicit design goal of making the worst user interface known to man. -- Ben ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/
pages won't load when Firefox AdBlock/NoScript active (was:Looking to Hire...)

I was thinking of mentioning that same URL but thought part of might be session-specific glop. The page seems to trip NoScript's anti-XSS (Cross-Site Scripting) defenses. NoScript claims it's logging details to the console but I never see any. I see plenty of complaints about the page's CSS, but nothing from NoScript. And if you think that page is bad, try logging into Gmail and looking at the Firefox error console. is there a topic / meeting for Monday at SLUG?
Rob/Ben et al (I don't know who al is), Just curious if there will be a meeting on Monday at SLUG? If so, is there a topic or is it more of a round-table meeting? Greg Rundlett ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/

LUG meetings and topics

The implicit modus operandi seems to be that we have to have a fancy topic in order to have a meeting. Why should Linux fans have to have a pre-arranged topic to meet? I know nobody thinks we actually *have* to, but nonetheless, meetings without a topic tend to have hugely lower attendance. It seems reasonable to suppose that since no topic is unusual, that's treated as reason to skip the meeting, since if the meeting was good it would have a topic. I'm told that in some other LUGs, it's the norm to just gather to help each other and network (people networking, not computer networking).
