Pashto Translation Team of Gnome
Dear GTP members, I have noticed that you have a Pashto Translation Team for Gnome Translation Project. But I noticed that The name for that team is Pusto which is wrong. The right spelling for this is Pashto which is used every where and is also right according to Spelling rules. What do you think, is name of the team changeable or we should create another team for this. I have sent and email to Ismail Maskani who is the only coordinator at the Pushto Team to add me to this team, but I have no reply from him. I want to start translation immediately because nothing is done in Pashto translation yet. what should I do? GTK+: Optional translation of %d to %d or %ld breaks PO file
In gtk+ branch gtk-2-10 there is this msgid:

This doesn't work. If I translate to %ld, msgfmt barfs and declares
the PO file broken.

The solution, presumably, is to mark this msgid as not c-format or use
strings like LOCALIZED and UNLOCALIZED instead.

It is %Id not %ld (a big 'i', not a small 'l'). Maybe this helps you?
Good point. When I put %Id, my msgfmt accepted the file. However, I
believe the bug still is real, since GNOME CVS refuses my file:
877 translated messages, 2 untranslated messages.

The ISO 639 registration authority uses the Pushto spelling for this English language name (see http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/englangn.html#op). In GNOME, we use the ISO 639 spellings of language names in English. So if you want to change this, please convince the ISO 639 authority. Then, when they have adopted their recommendations, we can change to use the other spelling in GNOME. What do you think, is name of the team changeable or we should create another team for this. libgnomeui broke the string freeze
The libgnomeui commit [1] by Kristian Rietveld introduced a new string [2], which is unacceptable in string freeze, 4 days before a release. There has not been any notification sent out to to gnome-i18n either... Hi Brent, Thinking about it, there aren't many pending patches that need to go in. Just one patch that breaks the code freeze to remove the gtkspell dependency. Alex, No, in fact I think this will make the translator's job easier. Also, it would be nice to get help buttons in the UI that open the manual in yelp. This is usually done with the gnome_help_display() function in libgnome -- I don't know the equivalent in the Mono bindings. The release team generally approves these kinds of things, but I don't know if this makes sense for the case where tomboy is run outside of GNOME (does anyone do that?) We can take this discussion off the mailing list if you want since it isn't pertinent to translators. [1] It's still listing the 2.14 release notes. It would be a much easier start for us if we had the 2.14 notes merged into the 2.16 file, and the .po files available, as is usual on [1]. Request for UI break for Tomboy
Hi,
This simple patch makes the gtkspell dependency optional, and removes
the enable spell-checking checkbox in the Prefrences depending on
gtkspell's availability.
I could probably just commit this as it basically counts as a build fix,
but I thought I'd take the safe route since I'm new to all this.
Besides, it gives docs people a heads up.
Speaking of this, I'm not really sure how the docs should handle it.
Most people will have distros with gtkspell and will see the checkbox,
but since it's optional, some people will not. What should the docs
reflect?
