Basically, this is because those translations has lots of serious flaws.
They are made with old orthography, has plenty of errors and typos, use
terms unknown to most users. The effect of such translations being in place
is that users just switch to other locales which at least don't break
things. So that's not what our users should see in UI.
In most cases, I just update those translations (sound juicer, dasher
recently), but while I don't have time for all of these modules at the same
time, I just cleanup some of them.
Thanks for the explanation! That made some things clear. It's sad to
see translations removed, even if they are old and problematic. I
understand that your team is understaffed (or even this is an
understatement? :D), but maybe you could reach out to translators of
other FLOSS projects?
