Re: [GNC] Scheduled Transactions

2021-02-13 Thread David H
A couple of things that might assist...

1. Right click on any txn and click Schedule down near the bottom of the
context menu to create a scheduled txn from an existing txn.

2. Use the Actions >> Scheduled Transactions >> Since Last Run... menu item
to do a manual catchup run if you've setup a scheduled txn that has txn's
to be created that are prior to today + the create in advance period.

I've always found it easier to delete the wrong scheduled txn and create a
new one using item 1 above as it seems to remember the last run date/next
occurrence due and doesn't seem to fire if I try updating the old scheduled
txn.

Cheers David H.

How? Is it necessary to delete the Schedule and start all over with a new one?

Maybe, but if you have to re-create the SX (Scheduled Transaction) and
delete the current one, that isn't too painful. (unless you have lots of
SX in play for this case)

> The Schedule in question is basically a distribution of salary costs and
benefits, may of which are direct percentage relations to salary. Is it
possible to enter formulas into the Schedule in such a way that all/most
split-accounts are updated simply by changing the salary amount?

Yes, I've done that when trying to work out an 'envelope method' for
savings.

Use a variable in each split and name it something useful, like
"net_pay", then use a multiplier for the distribution:

net_pay*.0125, e.g. to set that split equal to 1.25% of net_pay

You'll want to carefully make sure your distributions add up to 100% of
net_pay or you'll end up with an Imbalance split. (which you can always
manually fix upon creation)

When the SX fires, you'll see a prompt to enter a value for 'net_pay',
then the SX will dutifully calculate and fill in the splits for you.

I highly recommend to always tick the box to "Review created
transactions", to make sure you don't have a rounding error creating an
Imbalance split.

Adrien

Re: [GNC] About 'parent-account-subtotal' option.

2021-02-13 Thread Deva -
Thanks Chris and Adrien.

>>>
Parent account balances ( Account Balance / Subtotal / Do not show)
Parent account sub-totals (Show subtotals / Do not show)
<<<

If the end result is that the options will change to what you described above,
it doesn't alter my report layouts, so I have no objections either.

Cheers.

Subject: Re: [GNC] About 'parent-account-subtotal' option.

To clarify:

The subtotal options are:

Parent account balances ( Account Balance / Subtotal / Do not show)
Parent account sub-totals (Show subtotals / Do not show / Text-book style
(experimental))

The first one describes subtotals before an account group -- see [1] below.
Options will cause this line to show either "$0", "$108,000" or blank.

The second one describes subtotals after an account group -- see [2] below.
Options will cause this line to show either "$108,000", or blank (line
skipped), "$108,000" with an unusual alignment.

e.g.
Asset $0 [1]
Asset:Bank $8,000
Asset:House $100,000
Total Asset $108,000[2]

The proposal would modify saved reports with "Parent account sub-totals" set to
"Text-book style (experimental)" to use "Show subtotals", and options limited
to:

Parent account balances ( Account Balance / Subtotal / Do not show)
Parent account sub-totals (Show subtotals / Do not show)

I suspect that the number of users adversely affected will be near zero.

Hello Christopher,
I am not sure I understand the impact of this change.
My settings on the Income report are -

Include accounts with zero total balances (unchecked)
Omit zero balance figures (checked)
Parent account balances (Do not show)
Parent account sub-totals (Show sub-totals)

I don't use the Text book style (experimental) option.

Re: [GNC] Tab Rendering Flaw

2021-02-13 Thread A Harvey
I have just started seeing the problem on Windows 10, GnuCash 4.4.
I found that when I have many (as in too many to fit on the screen) tabs
open at the top and scroll the tabs across very quickly, the text on one of
the tabs will fall down exactly as Tommy has shown in his screenshot. If I
scroll the tabs slowly, this doesn't happen. Since I just noticed this
recently, I have not explored further.

Re: [GNC] Blurry Font Issue on Windows

2021-02-13 Thread Taull Boi
Hi John,

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried various settings under "Change high DPI
settings". There are three options under "High DPI scaling override":
application, system, system (enhanced). If I enable this scaling option and
use "system" or "system (enhanced)" all gnucash fonts become blurry on my
system. If I use "application", then I see the same behavior as when I
disable this option: most fonts look good except for a few. This appears to
suggest that Gnucash is handling the font scaling mostly correctly but it
is broken for certain widgets.

Re: [GNC] Blurry Font Issue on Windows

2021-02-13 Thread Taull Boi
That doesn't solve the problem. As mentioned at
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/GTK3, I tried the following CSS and similar
variants,

#gnc-id-main-window {
  font-family: Segoe UI;
  font-size: 9pt;
}

That changes all the fonts, including the blurry fonts, but they stay
blurry.

Re: [GNC] Blurry Font Issue on Windows

2021-02-13 Thread John Ralls
HiDPI Display?
Make sure that application scaling is enabled in System>Display>Advanced
settings. If that doesn't do it there are some more settings that you can get
to on the compatibility tab of the start menu shortcut properties: There's a
button called Change high DPI settings.

Re: [GNC] Blurry Font Issue on Windows

I seem to recall that GnuCash uses a couple of fonts that are not available
in Windows, so Windows substitutes something else. If you can find those
and make your own substitutions that may solve your problem. I am not sure
if those are hard coded in the program or how to implement them.

Re: [GNC] flatpak 4.4 reports anomaly

2021-02-13 Thread David Carlson
If you still have a copy of your user prefs for 2.6 the .gcm file in the
books folder contains the configurations for any reports that were open
when the data file was last closed. This could help to create similar
reports in the new format.

Re: [GNC] Fwd: GnuCash window placement

2021-02-13 Thread David Cousens
David,

Adrien referred to the Gnome Tweaks tool earlier. If you have it installed
or it is by default with the gnome-desktop, it has an option in the Windows
options to Attach Modal Dialogs to the parent Window. I don't know if this
is your problem.

It has no effect in the Cinnamon desktop in Linux Mint after restarting the
desktop and restarting GnuCash. The popup windows still move independently
and are not locked to the parent and either can be switched to the front
with Alt-Tab.

This option isn't available in the Windows settings in the Linux MInt
preferences. I am not familiar enough with the Linux MInt, Ubuntu, Gnome
differences and interoperability to know if the gnome tweaks tool works
properly in Linux Mint or not. I had installed it after someone suggested
using it for another adjustment some time ago . I can't rmember if it fixed
that either.

Appreciate the problem with cats and keyboards. Mine like to wander around
the keyboard as well. Also enjoy chasing the mouse pointer and moving
objects on the screen which is how one of my monitors has an inactive stripe
down one edge after falling on the floor when he leapt at an image of a bird
flying across the screen.

Re: [GNC] USAA FSB requires newer QWIN support

2021-02-13 Thread Bob White via gnucash-user

Keith,

A couple of questions.

1. Where is the config file to be edited? (I'm on MacOS so a file name is
probably all I need.) Or is this all doable in the wizard?

~/.aqbanking/settings6/users

If you have more than one user (one for each institution) there will be
multiple '.conf' files. Open each in your fav text editor until you find the
one that has 'USAA' in 'bankName' and/or 'org' fields.

Currently not supported with GNC 4.4.1--missing httpUserAgent in dialog.

Will be doable in the aqbanking wizard shortly--developers are working to get a
build together with the updates.

2. Is userName my login id on the USAA website or my member number? In the
previous version it was member number, not login id.

I have 'userName' as actual name with 'userId' and 'customerId' set to the new
access id acquired at  www.usaa.com/accessid

Re: [GNC] Gnucash xml file ope error

2021-02-13 Thread Michael via gnucash-user
Richard, I got a similar error with some scheduled transactions.  It
seemed to occur when there was a comma in one of the entries.  Didn't
matter which back-end I was using.  Couldn't find a preference related
to commas.  However, removing the commas stopped the error.  My problem
occurred using the build on FreeBSD.  Have not had the problem with
other distros.  Probably doesn't help you, but check for commas.  Mike

I've been using Gnucash for years.  This problem started late last

Seems that when I can open it, if I save it as a new file, it will open
and I can update.  Then the next open, fails.

Also, if it helps, there is no problem if I save it as SQL format file,
so must be an issue in the XML.

Thank you.

I got new USAA OFX download working with GNC 4.4.1.

It's mainly a configuration task.

-- User config --

int uniqueId=""

char backendName="aqofxconnect"

char userName=""

char userId=""

char customerId=""

char country="us"

char bankCode="314074269"

int lastSessionId="0"

data {

? backend {

? ? char bankName="USAA Federal Savings Bank"

? ? char org="USAA Federal Savings Bank"

? ? char fid="67811"

? ? char serverAddr="https%3A%2F%2Fdf3cx-services.1fsapi.com
%2Fcasm%2Fusaa%2Faccess.ofx"

? ? char appId="QMOFX"

? ? char appVer="2300"

? ? char headerVer="103"

? ? char clientUid=""

? ? int httpVMajor="0"

? ? int httpVMinor="0"

? ? char httpUserAgent="InetClntApp%2F3.0"

? } #backend

} #data

-

Notes:

? -- 'httpUserAgent' is currently not configurable through GNC v4.4.1, but
it works when included in the file. ?It has been added in newer AqBanking,
look for support in next GNC release.

? -- 'CLIENTUID' can be found in OFXLog.txt generated by Quicken. ?Signup
for trial and cancel within 30 days no charge.

? -- 'your new USAA access id' can be found at https://www.usaa.com/accessid

You will need to disconnect accounts from within the AqBanking Wizard,
download accounts with new user configuration, then reconnect accounts. ?In
my case, the new credit card account numbers in the accounts list are not a
100% match to the number found on your credit card. ?There were enough
common digits to know which was which, just be aware. ?I was able to
successfully download and update 2 checking accounts, a savings account,
and a credit card account.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Bob

PS. ?I did clone the AqBanking repo and build and install the latest
libraries on the same machine I am running GNC. ?I am not sure if the
GNC?used the libraries distributed with it or the ones I built so YMMV.

Questions:

Adrien

Deva,

See Chris' clarification. There will be no change for you.

My settings on the Income report are -

Omit zero balance figures (checked)
Parent account balances (Do not show)
Parent account sub-totals (Show sub-totals)

I don't use the Text book style (experimental) option.

This doesn't print the parent subtotals at the top, but it's aligned to the
bottom, after all sub-accounts are printed. If this format is still possible
with your change, then I am good.

If you mean, with this change, the subtotals will get printed at the top of the
sub-accounts (along the parent line), then I'd prefer to avoid that.

Thanks for the clarification. I was forgetting you need to do something
with existing saved reports that might have this option set.

Re: [GNC] About 'parent-account-subtotal' option.

2021-02-13 Thread Christopher Lam
To clarify:

The subtotal options are:

Parent account balances ( Account Balance / Subtotal / Do not show)
Parent account sub-totals (Show subtotals / Do not show / Text-book style
(experimental))

The first one describes subtotals *before* an account group -- see [1]
below.
Options will cause this line to show either "$0", "$108,000" or blank.

The second one describes subtotals *after *an account group -- see [2]
below.
Options will cause this line to show either "$108,000", or blank (line
skipped), "$108,000" with an unusual alignment.

e.g.
Asset $0 [1]
Asset:Bank $8,000
Asset:House $100,000
Total Asset $108,000[2]

The proposal would modify saved reports with "Parent account sub-totals"
set to "Text-book style (experimental)" to use "Show subtotals", and
options limited to:

Parent account balances ( Account Balance / Subtotal / Do not show)
Parent account sub-totals (Show subtotals / Do not show)

I suspect that the number of users adversely affected will be near zero.

To long-time and new users,

Regarding subtotals in several reports e.g.

Asset $0
Asset:Bank $8,000
Asset:House $100,000
Total Asset $108,000

>From 2003 onwards, there was a 'parent account subtotals' option 'text book
style (experimental)' to show subtotal after groups of accounts. It mimics
'parent account subtotals' = 'show subtotals' with a different alignment.
It has never graduated from experimental and is buggy. I suggest we remove
it, and switch the option to 'show subtotals'. The change will be in 4.5
due in March/April. The relevant PR is
https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/pull/908

Any objections?

I got new USAA OFX download working with GNC 4.4.1.

It's mainly a configuration task.

-- User config --
int uniqueId=""
char backendName="aqofxconnect"
char userName=""
char userId=""
char customerId=""
char country="us"
char bankCode="314074269"
int lastSessionId="0"

data {
? backend {
? ? char bankName="USAA Federal Savings Bank"
? ? char org="USAA Federal Savings Bank"
? ? char fid="67811"
? ? char
serverAddr="https%3A%2F%2Fdf3cx-services.1fsapi.com%2Fcasm%2Fusaa%2Faccess.ofx"
? ? char appId="QMOFX"
? ? char appVer="2300"
? ? char headerVer="103"
? ? char clientUid=""
? ? int httpVMajor="0"
? ? int httpVMinor="0"
? ? char httpUserAgent="InetClntApp%2F3.0"
? } #backend
} #data
-

Notes:
? -- 'httpUserAgent' is currently not configurable through GNC v4.4.1, but it
works when included in the file. ?It has been added in newer AqBanking, look
for support in next GNC release.
? -- 'CLIENTUID' can be found in OFXLog.txt generated by Quicken. ?Signup for
trial and cancel within 30 days no charge.
? -- 'your new USAA access id' can be found at https://www.usaa.com/accessid

You will need to disconnect accounts from within the AqBanking Wizard, download
accounts with new user configuration, then reconnect accounts. ?In my case, the
new credit card account numbers in the accounts list are not a 100% match to
the number found on your credit card. ?There were enough common digits to know
which was which, just be aware. ?I was able to successfully download and update
2 checking accounts, a savings account,
