[GNC] Old version Gnucash

[GNC] Printer woes
I finally gave up looking for my missing backup files and re-entered the years transactions. I copied the chart of accounts which did save some time. Now I have a new problem. I attempted to print out a checking account transaction register and found that there is no printer icon shown. What do you suppose would have caused that? I can print the register to the screen as usual but can’t make a hard copy. I’m using iteration 3.2 on a Win 7 machine. The printer is a Brother wireless laser. It is the exact setup that I have been running with Gnucash for the last couple of years. I’m clueless. I have been unable to find any reference to printer setup in the help screens and have never before needed to. My workstation finds the printer as it will do a screen print of any open screen I’m using in Gnucash Thanks in advance for your help, James Fuller Sent from my iPad ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user If you are using Nabble or Gmane, please see https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Mailing_Lists for more information. - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. [GNC] Problem with save-as
I tried to use the save as to change the name of a file last evening. Here is what I did: from the File drop down menu I chose Save-As, When the next screen popped up it asked for the name I wanted to use. I chose and entered databack. I then went to the Places select box and clicked on 640GB (F:). Next I went to the Name screen and entered in the save in folder (pre-existing) cruzback. Then moving to the bottom right of the screen clicked the radio button Save as. I looked in F:\cruzback. There is a save with the familiar Backuologo followed with databack 8/13/2019 GnuCash Financial Data 8 KB. There is also a databack.Gnucash.20190813152947 8/13/2019 3:29 which is the usual data file accompanying the backup files. My question is tis, why is there no dates etc. appended to the name databackup? I'm afraid that without that info, the next save will just overwrite this file. any idea how I'm messing this one up? Re: [GNC] Problems moving vertical lines between columns on registers
David, thanks very much. after some cut and try I got what I Need. I appreciate the help. Regards, James On 8/12/2019 6:09 PM, David Carlson wrote: James, Keep in mind that in the register view the description column is a special case that essentially defaults to use all the space that is not explicitly given to other columns. This means setting the other widths first, then dragging the right edge of the description column title box leftward and letting it snap back until there is no horizontal scrollbar at the bottom. Of course, this can get awkward for users that run the program on computers with different display and font settings. Since those settings are defined as user settings, different computers normally each keep their own settings, but if one accesses the program remotely via ssh, for example, it can still get very interesting. [GNC] Help with Export
Hi, I'm trying to export my chart of accounts so that I can start a new set of books. After opening Gnucash I move to the File drop down menu. then choosing Export I get a screen that offers options. I choose export accounts. A screen pops up that wants ( i think ) the name of the file to be saved. In this case I'm using the name ' CruzersGnu19 '. I then select C: for the drive. when I accept Save As, I get an error message that says " there was an error saving the file" "invalid argument" Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but I can't see what. Any help would be appreciated. James Fuller ps. I'm accustomed to using apple Ipads. I do a much better job of communicating on them. Grrr. [GNC] delete transactions
Hi, Looking through my bank account files I see that I made a mistake with a check. The check was written for three items which I meant to split to two accounts. say the three items were $25.00 each. I printed a check for $75. while looking at the accounts, there is an orphan account which shows a deposit in the amount of $25. I failed to expense the $25. that I should have. The check is greyed out in the bank account so I can't get into it and correct it. Can someone tell me the effect of going into the check account and deleting the transaction along with the orphan account entry? Or can I even delete the check and Orphan entry? If I can't can someone suggest how to correct my mistake. Re: Upgrading to new laptop, new version?
Hi, I am a gnucash user not an authority so you are forewarned :-). I did much the same thing in not staying updated. I finally updated to the current version. The update went seamlessly. My advice would be to update now. If a problem did occur you could always roll back but it isn't likely that any problems would pop up. YMMV. Re: GNUCASH Free Accounting Software
Adrian, I saw your reply below. I cannot seem to print by date range. What I’m trying to do is print the bank account transactions by date. Specifically the year 2017. I also need to print out a couple of expense account transactions for the same period. I did not close 2016 and every report I have printed shows all of 2016 along with 2017. What am I missing?
