I was wrong to make that statement, and I withdraw it
with apologies to anyone who may have been upset by
that allegation. Sorry guys.

Hi JC,
Thanks for agreeing with me!
Kind Regards, GL

In response to this from me (JC):
[When I first joined clinical medicine, I had the opportunity to do a rotation
at the Ribandar Hospital. And while the Panjim GMC hospital was beginning to
be partitioned and messed around by the Delhiwallas who were in charge of the
funding of Goa, The Panjim hospital was still cleaner that any of the hospitals
I had visited in Bombay or Poona.]

self-governed as a full-fledged state.
It appears that GMC has gotten worse along with everything else with Self-rule
/ Statehood.:=))
I often wonder if things would have gotten even worse with "Independence" with
no restraint from Delhi or Lisbon.

JC responds:
Dear Gilbert,
That is a refreshing breath on absolute non-comprehension.

(2) On what basis is Lawrence stating that Goa has Self Rule ?

Nothing has changed since this thing called "statehood" came about.
Only that the Goa Alibaba gang has more to swipe.
sincerely jc

If it was not for the mass migration of most of the
administration, under threat from the 1962 edict of
the Candeth Govt, and later, the "punishment"
inflicted on Goans by the losing mergerist Bandodkar,
things would have definitely been a lot better.

But then, had Goa been "independent", the
Maharashtrawadi Gomantaks wouldn't have existed -
would they? Nor would the "imports" be in a position
to demand their pound of flesh (they were already in
position and well-settled in Goa by the time Goa got
its statehood) and give Goans the run-around.

But then, it is only my humble viewpoint. I could be
wrong.

P.S. Considering it is virtually impossible for an
"outsider" to open business in Kerala, how difficult
is it for a Keralite (or for that matter, any
non-Goan) to open business in Goa? Has this
"loophole" been closed yet?
