Send Christmas Greetings to your loved ones in Goa. 2006 Christmas - Two Packages available from EXPRESSIONS http://www.goa-world.com/expressions/xmas/ Hi Newton! It was nice of you to take the time to write about the Goan anomaly in Melbourne and particularly to make an attempt for all three associations to reconcile in the spirit of Christmas albeit previous attempts have proven futile. As you know, it was always our (an independent group of Goans and not an association) aspiration to get the World Goa Day (WGD) celebration under one umbrella! For your information, the founder of WGD, Mr. Rene Barretto approached many people in Melbourne to kick start the celebration in the year 2000 and apparently he followed this up for the next two years. As no one responded to Rene's e-mails, he decided to contact me in Melbourne (as I had just come from New Zealand) and Rene requested me to shoulder the responsibility of staging WGD with a few families and friends. With the help of Jude and Sarojini and yourself and few others we stagged the first World Goa Day event in August 2003. Being on the Executive Committee (EC) of G.O.A. in the year 2003, (when you were the Treasurer), I tabled Rene Barretto's invitation to the then President who as you rightly said refused to accept this event on grounds that they have an Annual General Meeting in August and they could not take an additional event during this time; an excuse we were unable to comprehend. Moreover, when we told the EC that the aim of WGD was to promote cultural heritage and Konkani, I was told by the then President why promote Konkani in Melbourne? However, at the request of Rene and for the love of Goa and our language I took it upon myself to stage the first event in August 2003 (without forming yet another association) from our own pocket (as we do not have big balances built as membership for years) and with the assistance of some people who were equally passionate about Goa, culture and the language. In that year few Goans approached me (and you are aware of this) to form another association. I ignored this baseless request. As I said many times before, World Goa Day can and should be a part and parcel of one organisation on the proviso that we have just one organisation.. All that is required is to (a) get back the Australian Goan Association members who bifurcated from G.O.A. on some genuine grounds, (b) change the myopic clauses in the constitution that has been in existence for some 28 years and (c) embark on a new constitution that will encourage our young people to carry out our cultural heritage, food, music, arts, literature etc. What we need is new structure on new grounds and not new structure on old grounds. If Crab mentality is a part of our Goan culture, it is that time of the year to take stock of what associations have achieved so far The only way we can move forward is to change from being Goan Crabs to Goan Frogs, so that we can leap forward and progress. Since the kick off, of WGD in 2003 and right up to now, we were able to bring many Goans together from woodworks and others sitting on ice and on fences for a very long time. All these people wanted to come to an event which was not only free from membership fee but above all free from politics that even interfered with smooth running of friendships between families. Do Goans really need a Club with membership fees and status in these days and age? Send Christmas Greetings to your loved ones in Goa. 2006 Christmas - Two Packages available from EXPRESSIONS http://www.goa-world.com/expressions/xmas/ St. Xavier's Alumni/ae International Reunion St. Xavier's College is hosting for the first time an International Reunion of its alumni/ae and former teachers on December 17, 2006, on Dr. Mariano Saldanha Lawns of the College, in association with the Association of Alumni/ae of St. Britto High School, St. Mary's High School and St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School and College (BMX). Around 150 alumni/ae from USA, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Australia, UK, Gulf and some other countries, and an equal number from the other parts of India are expected to participate in this programme. Most of the students of St. Britto High School, meant for boys, and St. Mary's High School, meant for girls, join St. Xavier's. BMX is a Canadian brainchild and the first Reunion was held in Toronto, Canada, in 2004. The second BMX Reunion will be held in Goa from December 16 to 21, 2006. One of the items of the BMX programme is the participation in the Goa Xavier College Alumni/ae and former teachers Reunion. Such Reunions have been hosted by the College in the month of December since 2002, with participation mostly of the local alumni/ae and a sprinkling of foreign alumni/ae. But this year, it is truly an international reunion. The Chief Architects of St. Xavier's have been Fr. Edward D'Cruz s.j (1963-65), Fr. Nicolau Pereira (1965-1991) and Fr. Antimo Gomes (1991 - 2002). The former two have passed away. Fr. D'Cruz was the Principal of St. Xavier's College, Mumbai and his services were loaned to the Archdiocese by the Jesuits when St. Xavier's was established in 1963, soon after liberation of Goa. To him goes the credit for laying the foundation of the College, which initially functioned in Bastora, in the Fransalian Complex for 5 years. Fr. Pereira joined soon after completing his Ph.D. in Chemistry in U.S.A. The present huge complex consisting of Teaching Block, Administrative Block and Hostel at Altinho, Mapusa, was undertaken by Fr. Pereira alongwith the expansion of academic courses and other programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. level. His tenure was the longest. He was known in the student community as POP. Fr. Gomes served the Archdiocese for many years as Secretary of Diocesan Society of Education before starting his teaching career at Xavier's from 1984 to 1991, when he was appointed Principal. He introduced P.G.Degree programme in Psychology and many other courses. During his tenure the gardens became lush green with new plants which he loved very much. The present International Reunion has an added significance because its memorial is going to be a vast auditorium named as Fr. Nicolau Pereira Auditorium which will be a gift of its alumni/ae and friends of Xavier's to the student community. This auditorium will accommodate 1500 persons. The alumni/ae friends of Xavier's are going to gift chairs which will carry the nameplate of the donor, each chair costing Rs.15,000-00 to cover the cost of the building. The Alumni/ae are going to help the College in the context of Internationalization of Higher Education for twining partnerships with foreign Universities, Faculty exchange programme, Student exchange programme, Student internship, Faculty enrichment partnership , Joint research projects, Joint publications etc. The College needs the assistance of its alumni/ae for international networking. This will help the College for enrichment of the teaching-learning process, greater flexibility of educational experience, improved quality of research, sharing of the best practices and economic potential. Neither a nation nor an institution can simply afford to rest on its laurels. It needs to constantly keep pace with the times, for 'time and tide wait for no man'. Keeping this in mind the college plans to add a host of facilities to its infrastructure. Chief among these are a new state-of-the-art library building, an auditorium with a seating capacity to two thousand and an indoor stadium. These will enable our students to be better equipped, both in faculties of the mind and of the body, so as to prepare themselves for the future. Ever mindful of its rich past, St. Xavier's College rededicates itself to the tenets of its founders so as to produce academic excellence and all-round development of its students. Mopa plus 100% civil Dabolim. Emergence of a multi-airport system in Goa (like in Mumbai and Delhi in a few years). The crux of the matter lies in assigning the right role to Mopa vis a vis Dabolim and building it accordingly. This means one has to be international and the other domestic, at least to start with. Maybe after 10-20 years there can be a switch.[Self] Yesterday's Times of India had this report headlined: Unused airstrips to help fight jam. The sub-headline read Govt plans to revive 21 airports to ease air traffic rush and develop regional routes. In the text, the civil aviation minister is quoted as saying: Many of these strips are lying unused and face encroachment. If we dont revive them we may lose them. adding however that airstrips slated to be revived havent found any takers though low cos carriers have shown interest in operating to new destinations. In this connection the report notes that domestic air services are now available to 74 airports as againts only 50 in 2000. This leaves 20 potentially usable AAI airports out of a total of 33 unused ones it manages. Question: Why cant Mopa be included in this category and built into a small domestic airport? It can have a regional route structure like Pune (Lohegaon), Hyderabad (Begumpet), Bangalore (HAL) etc. Trouble is these are all defence controlled and slated to be closed to civil traffic sooner or later! Maybe it is because I have been educated and lived all my life, mostly, in Goa. Selma: Secondly, as a Goan I think I'm informed enough about Goan society to offer personal opinions. You on the other hand have offered us your opinions on Canada, having never set foot on its shores. I wonder which one of us is more flamboyant. Cecil: That is true. I should not be offering opinions on Canada, however informed they may be. Also Maria Aurora Couto should not be offering opinions, however informed, on what happened in 17th century Goa without actually having been there. Flamboyance is another matter entirely. -- Selma: Lastly, I do believe that Goan society has a pecking order based loosely on the chauvinism of language (to borrow Frederick's phrase). At the top is Portuguese at the bottom languishes Konkani. Phrases like we only speak English in the house, flaunted proudly are all too common. Cecil: You are entitled to your beliefs, however removed from reality. It is a pity that no intelligent and informed person on this forum shares your belief. One could equally easily claim there is a pecking order based on caste or skin colour or material possessions or political power or whatever. Unfortunately life is much more complex and pecking orders are a mixture of a lot of things, language being just one minuscule component. -- Selma: Speaking of Goan elitism, in your own humour column you write sneeringly about people who enjoy Konkani tiatre. Well, being able to appreciate English film noir does not make one any more intellectual than being able to enjoy a Konkani tiatre makes one plebeian. Such is the elitism of Goa that permeates every strand of its society. I rest my case. Cecil: 1) Even a South Goan will tell you that a humour column is different from an intellectual debate. 2) I also make fun of people from Salcete (not Salcette), Agassaim, Moira, Mapusa, Aldona... Also people who ride old Fiat cars and modified Enfields. I laugh at men who wear wigs and women who get their hair straightened. I regularly poke fun at matrimonial advertisements, multi level marketing, animal activists and overzealous administrators. Non-Goans, New Yorkers, Keralites, Germans, Sicilians and Ponjekars. Yuppies, puppies, hippies and sarcastic uninformed Goan migrants. Everybody and everything will come under my satirical scanner. 3) I have never claimed any superior ability to appreciate English film noir. I poke fun at IFFI Delgates - which includes myself. That is the crucial point, being able to laugh at oneself. 4) I regularly go for tiatrs (and not tiatre!) as do most members of my plebeian family. I am as critical of badly produced tiatrs as I am of badly directed English films or badly written postings to GoaNet. Perhaps Selma someday you will get rid of the big chip you carry on your shoulder that makes you think of yourself as the victim of some injustice. That will be the Eureka Moment when you will realise that it is not the language that made people shun you like the plague (to borrow your own phrase) but the way you misuse the language to perpetuate myths - and the attitude that accompanies. It is also being carried out in Margao. The main transformer in the Market Area of Panjim used to regulalry trip and cause long blackouts in that area every alternate day. With the new underground cabling and transformer, our supply has improved dramatically.[Sunith D. Velho] The electricity situation in the market area has improved dramatically, due to the new transformer installed for INOX(the main IFFI venue).[Sunith D.Velho] I was intrigued by your ascribing the improvement in the electricity situation to, initially, the transformer and underground cabling. Susbequently you have overlooked the underground cabling. I am sure there is a link between the electricity situation in the market area and both the transformer as well as the cabling even though at one time you argued that cabling was irrelevant. Systems thinking would dictate this. Btw, Inox has a standby generator and relies on the external power supply for its usual requirements. It is not totally reliant on the latter. Cheers. The real elites in Europe hardly had any formal education except for what was provided in royal and linked circles for elite functions. Indeed, the current generation of royalty in the UK, like Charles, are the first to see the insides of a university. The Queen herself in the UK has no educational qualification whatsoever! This has never stopped her from being supremely elitist in everything she does! Clearly too, in terms of experience, Mario appears not to have encountered totally uneducated and illiterate brahmin people, and the like, who believe they have inborn characteristics that make them superior to any formally and highly educated and successful person. Such is the paradox of elitism. Whether we are discussing elitism or snobbery, the crux of the issue in this discussion is surely the empty elitism or snobbery of some based on their personal beliefs rather than on verifiable facts that might determine their elite status. Just some quick thoughts. MARCOS GOMES CATAO Not aware of any Great Goan Women? What a pity! If you are not aware of any GGW then: 1) It could be because there were non pre 1950. Which could be further construed to mean that the Portuguese regime afforded few opportunities for women 2) That even though you took so much time to ferret out all these male luminaries it did not occur to you to look out for women 3) To quote you 'one has always to be learning' so I guess you have some homework to do! I don't think its (1) because I do know that there were many bright women in the time frame you mention and that there was little gender discrimination in the Portuguese regime.(2) As for your painstaking 'research' if you had taken the trouble to look then you would have been pleasantly surprised to see that some of the great men on your list were actually related to women who were equally or perhaps greater! Case in point being Bruto da Costa (Lisbon) whose wife is a Chemical engineer and environmentalist in Lisbon and his sister in law Adelia Costa said to the first woman psychiatrist of Goa. And how about the well known educationist Correia Afonso? And to that list I would add Maria Aurora Couto, a writer and Professor (3) A good place to start your homework would be Goa Sudharop's e book where you would find many women even from the 1950s. Send Christmas Greetings to your loved ones in Goa. 2006 Christmas - Two Packages available from EXPRESSIONS http://www.goa-world.com/expressions/xmas/ http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/763906.cms Pondicherry may host India's first int'l cruise hub TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ MONDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2006 02:27:54 AM] BANGALORE: Indians cruising on international high seas registered a three-fold increase in 2006. Now, a global cruiseliner like Carnival or Cunard, for instance, could show up with an international hub in the country. At least four top cruise operators - the names unidentified at the moment - are talking to the privately-owned Rs 1,850-crore Pondicherry Port (PPL) to develop the country's first dedicated international cruise terminal. The greenfield deep water port at Puducherry (formerly Pondicherry) spread across 320 acre, in which a global institutional investor will hold up to 50% stake, will show up with a luxury cruise facility with two terminals on a dedicated 55-60 acre land. Currently, Star Cruise has a domestic hub in Mumbai connecting it with Goa and Lakshwadeep but the cruiseliner operates out of the Mumbai Port Trust Terminal. PPL's Indian promoters, SPML and On Metals Infrastructure Group, and Asipac, an urban infrastructure development consultant, expects to seal an agreement with a leading cruise operator by early 2007, and the terminal is expected to become operational by 2009. The work on project, which has received all necessary governmental clearances, is poised to roll out mid next year. The idea is to make Pondicherry a hub for one of the the largest cruise-liners and a port of call for others. The business plan envisages short haul domestic cruises to Andaman, Sunderbans, Lakshwadeep and Goa, and longer cruises to Maldives, Seychelles, Mauritius, Singapore, Dubai and some Mediterranean destinations, said Amit Bagaria, CEO, Asipac, when contacted. The cruise terminal will have transit accommodation for crew and passengers, a MICE convention centre, business lounges, duty-free retail and a crafts bazaar for international tourists, he added. However, the names of the global cruise operators interested in the venture were not known, even through Asipac added serious talks were on with four out of the top 10 cruise-liners. According to Asipac estimates, the Pondicherry terminal could target almost 500,000 cruisers by 2011. This may sound like a large number, but when you consider that Miami handled 3.6 million cruise passengers last year, Singapore 1.6 million and Barcelona 1.4 million, given our size of population and growing economy, the 0.5 million target is not so big, said Karan Rekhi, vice-president (Ports Hospitality), Asipac. About 220,000 Indians would have cruised in 2006, a three-fold jump over the previous year. Among them over 200,000 flew out of the country to embark on a cruiseliner from major international hubs like Singapore or Miami. A native of Mumbai, Reita Faria was crowned Miss World 1966, 40 years ago. Rediff India Abroad Managing Editor (Features) Arthur J Pais flew to the Irish capital recently to meet the lady who was once the prettiest woman on the planet. The cabbie didn't have to be told the complete address. Just as we were giving him the name of the street in one of the most coveted locations in Dublin, he asked eagerly, I bet you are going to Miss World's home? He wouldn't call her by her married name. Just Miss Reita Faria. As he dropped us at the sprawling house Reita Faria Powell shares with her husband, endocrinologist David Powell, the taxi driver asked a bit sheepishly, Do you mind if I wait for a second? I want to see how she looks in real life. And there was Reita Faria Powell, looking years younger than her early 60s, with a radiant smile, offering her hand in warm welcome. The first Indian to be crowned Miss World 40 years ago, the Mumbai-raised Reita was one of the best known Indians worldwide in her times. Aishwarya Rai would claim the same crown in 1994 but, in the mid 1960s, Faria was much more than a celebrity. We knew three Indians in Ireland at the time, and Reita Faria was one of them, John Cunningham, a lawyer in Killarney, some 150 miles from Dublin, said when he heard my wife and I were visiting Faria -- who added her husband's last name to hers in 1971, the year they married. The other two were Mahatma Gandhi and Sabu, star of the hit movie Elephant Boy. Reita has always been very special to us, the lawyer continued. She became one of our own in no time. For many years, she was our only Miss World. Many of her admirers salute Reita's steadfast mind, having read how she spurned a glamorous life for the pursuit of medicine, giving that up to nurture her two daughters. Anyone over the age of 40, it seems, knows of Reita Faria Powell. Many remember seeing her on television, during reruns of the Bob Hope show in South Vietnam, staged soon after she won the Miss World crown in 1966. As recently as a month ago at the Ryder Cup golf tournament, the Powells got a warm welcome at a five-star hotel, thanks to the memories of Reita Faria. Last year, when the Powells were skiing in the Italian Alps, a group of English people looked at them intensely. After chatting a bit, they said to Faria's husband, 'We don't want you to be embarrassed, but was your wife very famous?' Send Christmas Greetings to your loved ones in Goa. 2006 Christmas - Two Packages available from EXPRESSIONS http://www.goa-world.com/expressions/xmas/ Cornel, Usage of the term crab mentality is not unique to Goans. I have witnessed it being used by people from other parts of India in reference to Indians in general. I had a professor in Bangalore who was fond of pointing out specific examples of the crab mentality of his colleagues. I also know that other close-knit world communities wield it in their moments of self-hate. The term itself refers to a rather curious cancrine behavioral trait. You might have noticed that live crabs tend not to escape from a basket even if it is left open. The reason for this is when one crab tries to climb out of the basket, others invariably pull it down. Of course, it is unlikely that crabs have a mind, and therefore, any semblance of a mentality. [Goanet] The Goan crab mentality!
* G * O * A * N * E * T C * L * A * S * S * I * F * I * E * D * S * Spread the Christmas cheer - even when you're not here! Send Christmas Greetings to your loved ones in Goa. 2006 Christmas - Two Packages available from EXPRESSIONS http://www.goa-world.com/expressions/xmas/ Hi Cornel, The term Goan crab mentality, I am told, stems from the story of a Goan fisherman having gone to the market with a basket of live crabs. At the fish market, he kept the basket open. A suprulo tourist asked him why does he not cover the basket, as the active and energetic crabs could easily crawl out of the basket. The experienced fisherman replied, These are Goan crabs. When any crab climbs up to get out of the basket, the other crabs will definitely catch it and pull it back to the bottom of the basket. Now you know the origin of the Goan saying. Now in your worldwide travel and encounters with Goans, would you validate this saying? You do not have to reply to this rhetorical question.:=)) Kind Regards, GL - Cornel DaCosta The term Goan crab mentality is used often. What is the link to the humble crab? To date I have not come across it as a term in everyday English usage. Just curious and with definitely no axe to grind! I learnt to pray alone opening my heart to God and of late I have just been getting stray thoughts which often tell me that this is not accordance to God's will. The priest talking about natural family planning and talking about cycles safe and unsafe. While on one side God himself is telling us increase and multiple, the priest tell us to restrict our family. While one side Jesus is telling us If you want to come to my Father you have to come to me, the church talks about devotion to Mary and her intercession. Mary herself never told us that she is going to save us but Jesus did.Jesus spoke about heaven and hell and from where did the purgoratory arrive? In the bible no mention is made as where Jesus went after been burried while the I believe states he descended among the dead. So all the confusion is created by the priests themselves and Dr.Carmo is calling me Helluvial confused Goan or east Indian or Mangalorean as if they are not human beings.Idiots speak like idiots. Today it looks like the Roman Catholic church is bankrupt otherwise why the hell boxes are placed all over the church near each and every images? Albert _ Connect with your friends who use Yahoo! [Goanet] Goa Regional Plan 2011 to Crucify Natural Heritage

Send Christmas Greetings to your loved ones in Goa. 2006 Christmas - Two Packages available from EXPRESSIONS http://www.goa-world.com/expressions/xmas/ Do GOACAN a favour, circulate this email to your family members, relatives, neighbours and friends. Help others be BETTER INFORMED, The time is come for the people of Goa to ORGANISE not AGONISE !! Documented by Goa Desc Resource Centre (GDRC) Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- Regional Plan 2011 to Crucify Natural Heritage --- by Prajal Sakhardande Natural History is a very important branch of History. Natural Heritage naturally follows from there. Our destructive, unscrupulous, hasty, malicious, vicious, greedy vermins that is the politicians of Goa need to be educated in these two branches of history and our electorate needs to be literate and educated about them. Wake up to the fact that they dont love us neither they have Goa in their heart and hence the destructive regional Plan 2011. They have therefore planned to systematically deface Goa. Remember they are all hand-in-glove. Goa is being sold by them. Our mother green Goa is for sale. As our angry young doctor Oscar Rebello puts it Goa is being raped by them. An architect perceives this Regional Plan-2011 as a huge Land Scam. In ancient times kings amassed huge booties and the war spoils were distributed between the king and his ministers. The 21st century Goan political scene is no different. Here the King and his Kingpins will enjoy the spoil of the Regional Plan-2011. Should we sleep over this land scam nee the Regional Plan 2011. Builders from Goa, Mumbai, Dubai hand-in-glove with our ministers and bureaucrats are out to roll earthmovers on our beautiful green hills at Betim, Baga, Arpora, Terekhol and at various prime hills in practically all the talukas of Goa. Thanks to the Regional Plan 2011 Goa will wear a ugly look. Our natural beauty, our mangroves, coastal belt, agriculture, trees will be axed to satisfy the unsatiated greed of the politician and the builder. Goa has a rich wealth of natural heritage. Our beaches like Morjim, Harmal, Mandrem, Kerim in the Pednem taluka, coastline of Bardez, Salcette, Murgao, Canacona will be victims of this dubious Regional plan. The Heritage trees of Panaji were axed at Tambdi-Mati-St Inez in the name of beautification. Nowhere in the world beautification takes place by cutting trees. Trees add beauty to the city. The historic rain tree avenue of Panaji at Campal is our unique heritage. At Candolim-Orda a hill is being cut. The Calangute hill will wear an ugly crown not of green olives like the Greeks did but a crown made of concrete. Have a look at the ugly Tata eyesore at Betim over looking Panaji. The entire stretch of the Betim-Verem hills will be a eyesore, thanks to the Town and Country Planning Dept, Government of Goa. The governments we elect to serve us finally turn out to be our greatest enemies. The very existence of Goa is at stake. All our NGOs have come together to fight the Draconian Regional Plan-2011. The whole of Goa should rise to this historic occasion and be there in large numbers on December 18, 2006 at Panaji to oppose the Regional Plan 2011. We have to save our Natural Heritage of Goa, her beautiful beaches, her hills, her mangroves, her agricultural lands, her trees. We also need to save our Mhadei from being diverted by the Karnataka government. We need to save our heritage temples, Old Goa world heritage site from the proposed garbage treatment plant. With noted conservation architect Ms Poonam Verma in tow we went to dialogue with the temple committee of Navadurga temple at Paigunium in the Canacona taluka to save the heritage of the said temple. We have to fight and fight and fight! Let us unitedly fight to save Goa. Send Christmas Greetings to your loved ones in Goa. 2006 Christmas - Two Packages available from EXPRESSIONS http://www.goa-world.com/expressions/xmas/ We,at South Goa Public Interest Action Group (SGPIAG) a registered NGO based in Margao,Salcete, South Goa District ,with jurisdiction, at present, over the entire South Goa District, are delighted that we have today completed six years since the formation/registeration of our NGO. This anniversary the members have resolved to extend their unstinted support to a Peoples Movement -- under the aegis of SAVE GOA front that is building up to save Goa from a man-made catastrophe the REGIONAL PLAN 2011 which tends to convert vast agricultural land to settlements; not to meet the growing requirements of the ever fragmenting Goan families but to make Goa a land of and for --- GOANS OF ANY ORIGIN by the turn of this decade. It may be recalled that last year 2005 our NGO alongwith several other citizens groups provided logistic support to the movement to repeal a draconian ordinance that was introduced by the Goa Government. This time the Regional Plan 2011 as approved vide Gazetted dated 10th August 2006 portends extensive damage to this tiny 25th State of Goa and which would have a irreparable damage to the demographic composition and the nature gifted assets that makes us and our tiny 25th State of India distinct from the rest of the country a cynosure of all eyes. Therefore on this anniversary we appeal to Goans world wide to lend support to the Peoples' Movement and ensure that the REGIONAL PLAN 2011 is consigned to the waste paper basket. Note well that after the coming hustings (state elections) in February, 2007 or May 2007 the deluge of migrants will far exceed the 3.5 lacs of the total population of 14 odd lacs as per 2001 census and with the changes in the Regional Plan 2011 the real estate industry will change the landscape and put extensive pressure on our natural resources, and outdated infrastructure. Hence its now or never visit www.savegoa.com for further details and lend your support to the movement by sending messages in support - email them to [EMAIL PROTECTED] HELPLINE 9822160493 OR 9822122235 We at SGPIAG also appeal to the Non resident Goans who may descend in Goa ---to join in large numbers and carry placards banners whatever to register your protest against the REGIONAL PLAN 2011, on 18th December, 2006 eve of the 45th aniversary of the Liberation of Goa at 1500 hrs IST for a massive rally at AZAD MAIDAN at Panaji. It is of interest to note as well that the audio visual and print media too has been building up the tempo to make this peoples movement a turning point in the anals of Goan history.
