[Goanet] Take up your cross and follow me

2017-07-08 Thread Nelson Lopes
Take up your cross and follow me

This message directs the faithful to follow the difficult path with your
crosses of pain, sufferings, sickness, misfortunes, sorrows etc in the
footsteps of Christ, on earth., Jesus never intended to build physical
crosses, as a sign of a true follower. The interpretation and significance
is quite contrary to our doctrine. The residences , open places , streets
etc. are dotting with physical structures as an external identity of our
faith and believe. It is become a fad, a new fashion and competition to
erect crosses also by the way side. .Perhaps, we are under mistaken notion
that such physical structures are the best ways of propagating and
announcing to the word our religious attachments. Sometimes these crosses
are also an obstruction to general public. Often it marks a corner, a
boundary to ward off/ secure against official action on illegality of
property by hoping to invoking religious sentiments. Cross adorns all our
Churches, chapels as it is a sacred sign/ symbol of Catholic reverence,
devotion , adoration and respect. This symbol before Christ was a sign of
humiliation, reserved for the worst criminals and offenders. It is Jesus by
his supreme sacrifice, sufferings, death on the cross has elevated it to a
deep meaningful object in the salvation of mankind. Any desecration can
therefore hurt the religious sentiments, raise passions and emotions
leading to riots and violent protests engulfing the innocent in the society

The present day crosses are expensively created with a taste of art and
design. Except foe the annual feast of the cross, these symbols are more
a less a dormant reminders of our identity at the best. The trend in
erecting at every house seem to be a norm. Sometimes lighted candles, an
electric bulb keeps company May be another celebration of fulfillment of
vows will bring it alive. A Peculiar and strange use is that crosses are
used to entomb the remains of loved ones as a special resting place, which
is ill advised. Certain crosses are attributed with miracles and faithful
throng to these sites praying, singing of litanies, bow in reverence, stop,
honour with garlands,.light candles, undertake pilgrimages in fulfillment
of a vow as they travel, e,g Fulam Kuris on NH 17 on Margao –Panjim has a
perenial crowd of devotees and requires booking in th time slot on days

Entertainment industries to malign the community hangs crosses on the necks
of anti social elements representing a notorious character .Many have also
tattooed the symbol of cross on their bodies. Our precious ornaments have
pendants of a cross etc. The Priests earlier used to sport embroidered
cross or of gold on the lapels of shirts

People who have erected cross in their own compounds are often a cross to
their neighbors by their behavior, attitudes and anti religious activities
and which could be avoided .Our religious sometimes recommend that a cross
of various materials be buried to ward off evil spirits and cross be
erected on the site of accidents more out of fear that the soul be lurking
in the surroundings. In the film Omen the cross has significant effect on
dissolving evil spirit may strenghten the belief of power of the cross

VM wrote: Modi-Costa Bhai-Bhai
Even as New Delhi and Lisbon accelerate into a brave new world of close ties,
there is the possibility Goa will be left outside, despite every advantage and
immense suitability, as the locus for bilateral co-operation. This is because
of understandable ambivalence and unease from Goans who can easily recall the
considerable negative effects of Portuguese colonial dictatorship in their
homeland. Many freedom fighters are still alive, who suffered jail and vicious
beatings in retaliation for brave acts of conscience. Their sacrifices deserve
lasting respect and recognition, and no one should take them for granted.

GL responds:
The above excuse for Goa and Goans not developing closer (social and economic)
relations with Portugal is another one of those lame excuses for being sussegad
about available opportunities.  Even when Prime Minister Costa visited Goa and
his family home, native Goans did not bother to give him a generous and
enthusiastic welcome. - of course expecting the Gorment to do it all.
As expected, dialog about Modi's visit to Portugal degenerated on Goanet to
"Invasion v/s Liberation".  It is so much easier to talk and write than doing
something.

Re: [Goanet] CABLE TV DIGITISATION SERVICES

2017-07-08 Thread Sebastian Rodrigues
Goa has no facility to monitor mobile tower radiation

Goa has no facility to monitor mobile tower radiation and Term Cell in
Nagpur is not bothered about doing monitoring in Goa. On 20th July 2017 it
will one year since Goa Government decided to hand over monitoring of
mobile tower radiation to Nagpur based Term cell in Maharashtra State of
India. On September 09, 2016 letter was sent to term cell in Nagpur.

However what shocked us now is that inquiries at Goa State Pollution
Control Board (GSPCB) revealed that they have no information whether Term
cell is monitoring or not even though there are several complainants to
mobile towers all over Goa with backing of BJP rule in India and Goa. Term
cell was meant to intimate the complainant and we are sure this has not
been done as we are complaints on three occasions and listed at GSPCB
records shared here.

Radiation from Mobile towers is harmful to every living form including
human, animal, birds, plants, crops, reptiles and fish. There are hundreds
of scientific studies about the harmful effects of microwave radiation, and
also specifically about the effects of mobile towers. E.g. the following
sites tell about them and have direct links to the relevant science
articles:

https://emfscientist.org/
http://www.disconnectbook.com/
http://microwavenews.com/
http://www.bioinitiative.org/
https://www.emf-portal.org/en

Another very noticeable study is at links below:

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0006291X15003988

It is however surprising that Goa government is banking upon short term
memory of public to avoid monitoring of mobile towers of every service
provider including idea, Vodafone and newly entered one - Reliance that
went on spree of digging and installing mobile towers during night time all
over Goa. Idea and Vodafone have now been merged into one after recent
corporate merger.

Radiation affects everyone and its rather bizarre that Goa Government is
not at all serious about monitoring of radiation. We are also aware that
mobile companies has been funding political parties and that sure is
immediate incentive not to raise issue of radiation from mobile towers in
Goa. Only one MLA Alina Saldanha has raised public objection in press
citing that mobile towers has led to drastic fall in coconut yield and she
will not allow any mobile towers to be installed in her Cortalim
Constituency. It looks like her resistance has been over ruled and we see
mobile towers installed in Cortalim Constituency too.

That aside, its now a matter of historical record that baring Alina
Saldanha no MLA have spoken out against mobile towers in Goa. Another odd
man out is former Fatorda MLA Damu Naik who is one of the complainant
against mobile towers as you will notice in the list of complainants we
share with you here. The list prepared by GSPCB and was given to BMM as are
complainant on three occasions in Bambolim-Nauxim area in Tiswadi Taluka of
Goa. All together as per documents provided by GSPCB there are 51
complaints from different parts of Goa against mobile towers.

If Goa cannot afford to monitor radiation from mobile towers then all the
mobile towers must be shut down till monitoring facility is put in place.
Goa's environment minister cares a damn for radiation concern for Goa.

We request all the public and public representatives to put this issue on
the agenda and initiate action to get strict monitoring of mobile phone
towers. Our ancestors lived without mobile towers and radiations for past
running into thousands of years but our future generations may not live so
in the presence of radiating mobile towers.

Have a look at the documents below for study and action.

[Goanet] SPEED LIMITS AND DRIVE WITHOUT HELMETS?

2017-07-08 Thread Stephen Dias
Dear Arun Sinha
Editor
Navhind Times

Sub" WEAR HELMETS, DRIVE WITHIN SPEED LIMITS: Your Editorial

Dear Sir,

Your Editorial appeared on 8th July 2017 has lots of facts in it, but let
me comment on certain points.
All of us agree that the helmets are MUST for all the two wheeler drivers
as well as pillion riders and the speed limit is very much needed to ensure
on safety point of view.
The pressure put up earlier by the Transport Minister Sudin Dhavlikar
imposing on 2-wheeler drivers number of times its usage of helmet, since
he continued to be a PWD Minister is not well taken by the city riders. It
is fine that on highways is necessary because there, the speed limit is
much more beyond 40 kms per hour whereas in the city is very much less than
that. Over speeding is almost impossible in the city as number of traffic
police are seen patrolling. This speed will rarely give way for an accident
in the city provided the traffic lights are introduced at important
junctions/road crossings. But the tension and difficulties for the riders
to carry and use of helmets in the city is deplorable .Many of them
looses/forget their helmet either in Cafes, restaurant, market or in a
shop. The pressure for buying helmets is allegedly none other than a
business for some companies on account of plenty of 2-wheeler in the city
and non-availability of parking. Second point in the Editorial stressing on
medical experts views which everybody Tom Dick and Harry knows that the use
of helmets could help avoid injuries.
Rest in your Editorial is hundred per cent right.
