[Goanet] Athanasio in trouble

2020-05-12 Thread BT Yahoo Mail

Goanet folk may have not noted that Athanacio Lobo of Moira (now in
Canada) has been charged for 'sedition' for his online petition to
re-liberate Goa and perhaps rid the place of cows, sadhus and such.
Sedition is an offence created by the Brits to discipline Indian
nationalists but was removed from the Brit lawbooks in 2010 as no longer
relevant.

But not so the BJP babus, who just love the sound of the word and have
retained the offence to terrorize anyone they don't like.

And poor Athanacio has been targeted.
If he is a Canadian citizen by now, he has nothing to fear.
And surely he has acted in good faith.

150 Goans who have
approached me on personal ground on my Dubai whatsupp no created only to bring
to gather all Goans who
are stranded and scattered throughout the UAE. There are some in desperate
situation.

The official nos of Goans registered with the Indian Embassy to exit from UAE
will be more .

There is repatriation plan from Central Government for 7 days and most of
the Destination Airport
mentioned in plan are in top Ten highly infected cities and nowhere Goa is
included as Destination
Airport even though it fall under green belt and almost 3000 Goans have
registered with Goa
Government portal to return Back to the homeland .We have been campaigning to
get direct flight
straight to Goa as with the lockdown in India flying to other states make
getting home more uncertain

Dabolim Airport was opened up for repatriation flights for tourist and
Government was helping them in
that situation. They should also give same help and consideration to Goans

The origin of Goan Association Germany was in Rüsselsheim. It eventually stop
functioning in Rüsselshem so we got it officially registered with Amtsgericht
Frankfurt and established it here as Frankfurt was centrally located and more
accessible to the Goans living in the Rhein Main Area. Only the yearly feast of
S.F.X is celebrated in Rüsselsheim. You are correct this GA is a e.V

Vizag gas leak: Who is liable?

The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), a Delhi-based think
tank, has come out with an assessment of the styrene gas leak that
occurred in the plant of LG Polymers India Pvt Ltd early morning May
7, 2020.

CSE — in its first assessment released at 3.30 pm — has attributed
the accident to the company’s negligence and in not adhering to
safety protocol. Based on the detailed note by CSE, below is a low
down on the gas leak that has already killed 10 people.

How toxic is Styrene?

Styrene — an organic compound used in the production of polymers,
plastics and resins — is manufactured in petrochemical refineries.
It is, likely, a carcinogenic substance that can react with oxygen in
air to mutate into styrene dioxide, a substance that is more lethal.

Acute (short-term) exposure to styrene in humans results in mucous
membrane, eye irritation and gastro-intestinal effects. Chronic
(long-term) exposure results in effects on the central nervous system
(CNS), including headaches, fatigue, weakness, depression, CSN
dysfunction, hearing loss and peripheral neuropathy. If it goes beyond
800 parts per million, the person can go into a coma ... Continue

SURVIVING THE CORONA CHALLENGE
It is good that the PM at last planned a conference where ALL the CMs are
called and will be heard!Lifting lockdown and having to see headlines in Goa of
traffic jams and no social distancing at market places, two wheelers back to no
helmet and zig zagging between traffic, not obeying traffic signals properly
and so on belies the hope we all have of a better way of doing things after the
Covid-19 lessons which have not been learnt! Corona is a clever virus and is
known to be mutating. We are living in a fools paradise if we think we can go
back to business as usual. Besides no income, rising prices fuel and ressential
commodities, why are people behaving like sheep? Humans have brains and
intelligence to realize that going back to old lifestyle cannot happen! WHO has
warned Corona is not going away in a hurry. Climate change and pollution if not
tackled by drastic changes in our present way of doing business and lifestyles
with wide disparities in income will bring in angry backlash of labor class and
eventually all mankind. We will then be devastated by angry citizens and
angrier mother nature! We will have no place to hide, not even in our homes! The
Centre and States better get their acts together and devise a sensible humaine
road map to make it possible for surviving the Corona challenge and saving the
earth for all humankind to live with a healthier quality of life in peace and
hapiness!

[Goanet] Do not let guard down

2020-05-12 Thread Nelson Lopes

Do not let guard down
People become naturally complacent over a period of time Similarly attention
focus diminishes with time . Initially the Govt of Goa with police and CRP
enforced the lock down. Goa has been fortunate to be green zone. with only 7
cases , which have recovered with no deaths. People by a and large co operated
with the guide lines .It takes just once case to change the colour of the zone.
e.g. Shindudurgh Davengere etc How safe Goa will be with markets ,trains buses
, opening up .People have started beach visits , group meetings at street
corners with relaxed norms of stay at home
Many Goans unemployed, students ,sailors stranded in various parts of the
world, are being brought back home. There is a risk involveled in this
humanitarian exercise of great magnitude .People want to get back to old ways
but remember the danger of infections is still lurking around the corner. It is
predicted that June July are peak periods also with change in climate
People have now to observe self restraint. Those above 60 plus others with
disease of heart ,kidneys ,hypertension ,diabetes must absolutely limit
movements Children below 10 years must also be guarded. How the situation will
change with opening of schools is difficult to fathom as of now
Use mask that will prevent infection Any type of mask is no guarantee to
adventure far and beyond It only gives psychological comfort . Sanitisation
of hands specially before eating must become a habit of compulsion from here
onwards
Maintain social distance absolutely at all times in all places with friends
or visitors .The normal habits of social interactions will have to be curtailed
over a longer period for personal safety and others on contact .Use freedom of
relaxation with utmost responsibility. There may be no police to remind
and enforce guidelines we will have to be self guided and educate others too
by example .If there is outbreak we will undo the effects of sacrifices of stay
at home. No more we will be able to shift blame and point fingers at Govt You
are your own best protector under circumstances. as this scourge of pandemic
will last a little longer .
No gatherings ,attending of group celebratory activities whether religious or
social in nature .Eating habits of non veg food stuff ,street and outdoor foods
must be put on hold . Exercise and rest can accentuate good health , Let us not
forget to pray for divine intervention to find cure and also be grateful for
our present state of good health

[Goanet] Sedition Or Malice?

2020-05-12 Thread Roland Francis
Using the very same British Raj law enacted in 1860 and used by the erstwhile
colonial authority to suppress activists fighting for Indian independence, in
order to curb freedom of expression in an online petition drafted in order to
voice displeasure against the force used in 1961 Goa, generates in 2020 an
irony the Goa Police seem to be unaware of.

See the news article in the TOI referenced in the Goan Voice UK about Toronto’s
Atanasio (Nash) Lobo brother of Goanetter Flo Lobo of Moira Goa being the
subject of an arrest warrant by the Goa Police for sedition.

What is involved is a petition on Change.Org that has gathered less than 4,000
signatures in as many years, that seems so important to Goa Police that laying
aside all criminal matters that beset the state including its corrupt
politicians, it becomes a priority to arrest a Goan working and residing in
Canada who it appears has become a threat to them even in these unusual times
of a pandemic.

Bad timing or monumental stupidity?

Roland.
