[Goanet] BABUSH MONSERRATE IS A HARDCORE POLITICAL LIAR

2021-03-17 Thread Aires Rodrigues
Goa has not seen a bigger ‘political liar’ than Babush Monserrate. All that
he says is false and fake promises to hoodwink the voters.

His belated statement today about the proposed Ribandar Health Care Centre
is absolute political thrash that will fool no one.

For the last over two months through his PA Needha we have consistently
tried to get an appointment with him to know the status about the Health
Centre but he has not been ready to meet us as he knew very well that his
Health Centre promise was a very false and fake one.

With all his U-turns and fake promises Babush Monserrate has fooled the
people of Panaji and Ribandar for too long.

For the first time at this CCP elections he has not released any Manifesto
knowing very well that nothing that he promised in the 2011 and 2016 CCP
election manifestos has been delivered. It has all been a bundle of sheer
lies and utter deceit.

On March 20th the people of Panaji and Ribandar will ensure that Babush
Monserrate gets a political trashing for having fooled the people for too
long. His political grave will be the best thing that will happen for
Panaji in particular and Goa at large.

[Goanet] POLICE CAN’T ACT AS PIMPS OF POLITICIANS

2021-03-17 Thread Aires Rodrigues
Law and order is key to the prosperity and well being of any society. Today
while Goa is witnessing a rise in crimes, there is a need for a consensus
amongst all political parties to allow the Police to function freely and
independently devoid of any political interference and manipulation
whatsoever.

Towards ensuring radical police reforms the Supreme Court in 2006 in a
landmark judgment had issued seven clear directions all of which have not
yet been truly implemented by the State of Goa.

One of the directives was to set up a Police Establishment Board (PEB)
headed by the Director General of Police (DGP) to independently decide
transfers, postings, promotions and other service related matters of police
officers of and below the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police and make
recommendations on postings and transfers above the rank of Deputy
Superintendent of Police. We may have a PEB but it is mere paper Tiger
which is toothless and powerless with all the decisions being infact taken
by the politicians in Power.

While the law requires that the Police should be insulated from any
political interference and be independent in its functioning, the factual
ground reality is that our Police lack freedom in discharging their duties
while having to bow down to the dictates and directives of the Politicians.

Over the years the power and authority of Goa’s DGP has been systematically
eroded. Even in the matter of posting of police personnel, Ministers and
ruling MLAs have gone to the extent of appropriating the power to assign
postings of constables to Police Inspectors and even Dy SPs to SP’s. The
intent and manner behind depriving the DGP his say in such routine
administrative matters is deplorable while the damage done to his status
and position is unacceptable.

Politicians publicly speak about the independence of the police and of law
taking its own course but factually they interfere and unduly intervene in
the day to day working of the Police. We have a lot of good and smart
Police personnel but unfortunately their brains and investigative skills
are in the custody of the politicians whose line they have to tow. It is
time to ensure the Police function as a professionally competent body and
not as mere agents of the political party in power.

A small state like Goa could have maintained its peace and tranquility but
the ground reality is a matter of great concern. To curb the rising crime
rate we need good police investigation but the sun seems to be shining for
the perpetrators of crime. If no immediate corrective steps are taken we
may reach a point of no return.

We can no longer allow a police force driven and manipulated by politicians
when we are entitled to have law enforcers who are people oriented to
strictly enforce the law without fear or favour.

[Goanet] BJP tireless tactics to malign Muslims

2021-03-17 Thread BT Yahoo Mail
The BJP Hindus in social media, with nothing else to do, keep looking
for ways to smear Muslims.

A few days ago, a video of a Hindu man urinating on a holy statue was
re-posted with the claim that the man is Muslim.
The video was posted by Twitter users Gopal Goswami @gopugoswami, Ramesh
Solanki @Rajput_Ramesh, @Dharmicbaba, @YamrajFromHell, and @P_Katyayan.
Between just these accounts the video has been viewed over one lakh
times. Goswami wrote, "See why they go to Temples:- it's nothing to do
with drinking water but to pee on the murtis & Ling".
His tweet gained close to 4,000 retweets. The video was also shared by
@HinduEcosystem_, promoted by BJP leader Kapil Mishra, where it drew
over 50,000 views.
Swarajya's senior editor Swati Goel Sharma and BJP member and former MLA
Hari Manjhi shared the video as well.

Sheer BJP Hindu malevolence.

2021-03-17 Thread Roland Francis
Sorry, really, why?
The Bible condones it as long as they don’t die within three days of being
beaten.

Ephesians 6:5-8 Paul states, “Slaves, be obedient to your human masters with
fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ” which is Paul
instructing slaves to obey their master. Similar statements regarding obedient
slavescan be found in Colossians 3:22-24, 1 Timothy 6:1-2, and Titus 2:9-10.

Jesuits pledge $100 million for descendants of enslaved people the Catholic
order once owned
Maryland Jesuits in 1838 sold 272 people to plantation owners in Louisiana to
pay off Georgetown University's debts.

2021-03-17 Thread Roland Francis
If I were to retire in Bombay (though no chance of that), I would organize a
company selling walking tours of the city’s many splendours. One of them would
be the Churches - all of them, the Catholic, various Protestant, the crosses
and the synagogues. Much history and beauty attaches to each of them. None like
Europe’s beauties of course but each one full of character.

Nothing like it exists in Toronto. The beauty and the history I am referring
to. Not bereft of course since we have our own British Dominion character, but
far from what Bombay has to offer.

[Goanet] EFFICACY VARIANCE OF VACCINE

2021-03-17 Thread ELVIDIO MIRANDA
EFFICACY VARIANCEOF VACCINE
Elvidio Miranda
As if one vaccine having different trends of efficacy in various countries,
probably because the degree of resistance to infection with corona virus varies
due to people of different countries having differing immunity to a particular
vaccine, it may be stressed that actual experience of the Swedish/British
vaccine has thrown up a mixed bag of efficacy across different countries, much
unlike the performance at the clinical trials, which observed a slightly
different pattern of efficacy. Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Norway and
Indonesia have suspended the use of this vaccine, while other countries have
persisted with vaccination of its people. It is fairly conclusive that this
vaccine has had varying degrees of efficacy across various countries thus
having even made the makers of the vaccine defensive as clear side effects
especially clotting of the blood, even bleeding and low count of blood
platelets having been observed so far. It is known that this vaccine has 95%
efficacy, but in terms of actual inoculation results, that figure is obviously
not consistent across countries. Can inconsistency of efficacy be ascribed to
its total percentage, as seen in the clinical trials? Would that argument
suffice for countries to continue vaccination drive amidst an air of
uncertainty? Is 5% risk a tolerable degree?
