[Goanet] Cattle speedbreakers

2021-09-14 Thread Nelson Lopes
Cattle speedbreakers
The cattle nuisance on NH17 and other District roads and state High ways
are posing danger to life and limb. If there are no owners of these
animals, let loose in hordes , they need to be confiscated
The cattlepounds and gaushala have not remedied this problem due to space
and financial viability. The Govt cannot be expected to incur expenditure on
animals on these orphaned animals
Many a precious life has been lost and major damage suffered by vehicle
owners
It is the responsibility to the road tax payers and users to provide safety
.Sometimes they serve useful purpose as speed breakers for the rash
 ,negligent speeding motorists
Animal welfare rules of not sending to slaughter houses cannot take
precedence over human welfare Rules need to be modified with stringent
fines, imprisonment for the owners ,who let loose this menace
Besides many a paddyfield cultivation is left fallow due to the invasion of
cattle feasting on cultivated crops.Govt subsidy on fencing on a vast scale
is not feasible option of choice as the component borne by tenants is not
attractive proposition and the cumbersome procedure for necessary sanction

[Goanet] Piggish Numbers

2021-09-14 Thread Roland Francis
Canada on the other hand, has 14 million pigs to a population of 38 million
people, while Iowa itself the biggest pig producer state in the US has 24
million pigs to a human population of only 3 million. 8 times pigs to people in
that farming state.

Goa sausages sell for 12 to 15 dollars a pound in Toronto. Sorpotel even more.

Eric (if he knows a Smithfield employee) and I, should do some pork-running on
the lines of rum-running of prohibition days, or gun-running of today. At the
very least we would bring down the price of Sorpotel in Toronto.

Smithfields is the US’s largest pork processor with 55,000 employees but has
been bought out by China which is the world’s largest pork producer. The next
time the US threatens China, it will gets its pork cut off!

For those wondering, a pig weighing more than 120 pounds becomes a hog.

Roland.

Yea, Joao bab, u surely do not want to make pigeons into red meat eaters!

I recall some years ago attending a small NGO gathering of interfaith peace
workers & the keynote speaker was the Dalai Llama.

He sometimes comes to Montreal Canada to meet privately with members of the
Tibetan Buddhist temple.
Many ‘refugees’ living here.

After his short ‘talk’, someone asked him what can we do locally to promote
peace.

He got a bit exasperated, as he had outlined already a few simple things.

He said:
if u want peace, eat less red meat !

- u know, when people order steaks & ask for it to be cooked ‘rare’, not ‘well
done’, some blood/fluids are still flowing on the surface of the steak in the
plate. I notice plates at the next table, as I have ‘subji’ in mine 

Some people were very upset & he was not invited again for 2 yrs at meetings of
that large prestigious organization across North America.
Then they bowed to each other & made up, & I was there, as I was on the
Executive Board.

Señor Joao Barros-Pereira, does ‘red meat’ make people more aggressive? Is
sorpotel also red meat & a pinky, oinky culprit?

Amcher susagad grunting piglets get suspicious some harm is going to happen to
them soon, when we start pampering them & give them first names ?

Quebec, in Canada, is the largest producer of pork in North America, & it is
exported all over the world. Very hi-tech farms.
They r given hormones & chemicals, etc., to fatten them quickly, & this stuff
gets into the food chain.

What does Joao want to reply ! oink-oink !

Dear Ivan,
Please don’t treat these as corrections, they are merely slight ‘adjustments’.

1. The Dalai Lama would not be pleased to be associated with a South American
pack animal.

2. Manitoba is the largest producer and exporter of pork in Canada, not Quebec.

Regards.

Interesting, Filo.
India's BJP fanatics should be up in arms - the cow is their god and
their urine is claimed to be a health giving drink, which could replace
coca-cola at restaurants. But of course, the Hindus won't rebuke or
attack the Bloomberg researchers.

Most Hindus are plain cowards before whites ready to kiss their shoes.
Hindu malevolence only extends to Muslims & minorities who are brown or

Recently, Goanet.net published re. ‘colours of the Indian flag’.

We rarely discuss much today about ‘non-violent protest’, its
1) philosophy &
2) its tactical actions, etc., which Mahatma Gandhi wrote about in some detail,
& others have done since.

I hope this PDF attached gives some perspective, in your actions in future,
when making a non-violent stand is essential.

[Goanet] Original article re. Indian flag

2021-09-14 Thread Ivan Pereira
This was the ‘original article‘ re.colours of the Indian flag, written in July,
2020.
I hope it gives perspective & we do not turn excessively inward: I do not
anticipate that occurring, as we do have a larger perspective.

From: "Ivan D."
Date: 2020-08-14 10:16 PM (GMT-05:00)
To: Ivan DP
Subject: Aug 14 & 15, 1947: Independence of Pakistan & India

I hope u have/find the time to read this, & that it provides a historical
perspective of the events of 14-15, 1947, & the decades before 1947.
- Ivan D. ✌

Aug 14 & 15, 1947: Independence of Pakistan & India:

The first flag below (with the wheel, ‘chakra) is that of the Republic of India
(Independence in 1947).

The second flag (below left, orange on left)) is that of the Republic of
Ireland (war of independence, 1918-1922, & included in the Irish Constitution
in 1937). It was first flown in 1848 (by Thomas Francis Meagher).

The third flag (below right, green on left) is of the Ivory Coast (independence
in 1960).

Historical perspective:

The Indian independence leaders admired the Irish.

They felt that the Irish, with close territorial proximity to Great Britain,
still won their independence, & they wondered why they were having difficulty
1000s of miles away.

So, it is not very clear if the same colours are just a coincidence, or
whether the Indian independence leaders were reaching out to Europe, & making a
statement with the flag colours that they were not making it excessively a
racial issue.

Some British leaders sought European support, stating just that, & attempting
to isolate India from the international community.

Ivory Coast got their independence in 1960, again difficult to imagine the same
colours are a coincidence (green the grasslands of the Savannahs, white the
rivers, orange the coastal areas).

When an Ivorian coast woman won the World Indoor 60m dash, 1988, she had no
flag. She borrowed the Irish one, reversed it (backwards, so green was first),
& ran the victory lap with it.

For the Irish, green signified the Catholics, orange the Protestants, & white a
truce between the two.

India considered green the (agricultural) wealth of the land, white meant
‘purity’, & orange ‘spirituality’.

The wheel in the middle (Chakra) represented Asoka the Great, & Indian
civilization of his time.

In my view, our planet is shrinking, inter-related intrinsically & in practical
terms, & in time we will celebrate & fight for ‘sovereignty’ at different
levels, from the autonomy of the individual to the well-being of our planet.

Decades ago, there was a small radioactive leak from a nuclear power plant in
New Jersey.

Six months later, scientists sent teams to collect snow samples from Mount
Everest & Mount K2, (the tallest mountain), from places no human being has
been.

The snow samples examined in the laboratory had ‘the signature’ of that
radioactive leak.

Increasingly, we will have to solve challenges & find solutions at a global
level, while protecting our sovereignties at different levels, and the primacy
of the ‘nation-state’ will take a back seat to emerging universal values
related to our collective survival.

Of course, the struggles of peoples of the earth & humanity for freedom will
continue to be remembered, & freedom gained celebrated !

(PS. Why Aug 14 at the top? Pakistan was given independence on Aug 14, 1947, so
Pakistanis claim they got independence first. SURE !)

Sept 15 is a huge feast in southern Italy, celebrating the ‘Ascension of Our
Lady’, when her body & soul (not just her soul) went to Heaven, one of the
Mysteries of the Catholic faith (I am not sure if all Protestant denominations
celebrate Aug 15 in the same way).

I assume that is a coincidence, too, not just a reaching out to Europe by the
Indian independence leaders, who kept stressing that they did not want
independence to be construed as primarily a racial issue, tho it was also very
much that !

I hope this gives some perspective to the outstanding leadership in a very
debilitating time in history.

AHIMSA ! ☮️

[Goanet] Choice voters right candidate is a myth

2021-09-14 Thread Nelson Lopes
Choose the right candidate
Does the voter have the right choice? Or does he has to choose the
lesser evil . ? None of the above option is meaningless.Except that it
satisfies your conscience not to be a part of forced option. The right to
recall demand has not taken off the ground. Also that defectors be barred
ar least for two successive terms and holding public office of any kind too
is a non starter The right given to Speaker to decide is debatable
Some papers carry out sustained campaign of educating the voters. IT may
touch of minuscule few by reasons of right decisions .The voters are
largely motivated by personal equation with the candidate caste, religion
and some petty favours received or promises made
The voter has no choice on candidates in the fray. MASSIVE dvertisement
BLITZ on birthdays.birthday bash, having been an Sarpanch, Zilla parishad
member, having lost in previous election etc seems to be strength of
self propelled candidates
Then the exercise of donations to church temples ,clubs and associations
etc is resorted to. Increasingly being host or chief guest at
tournaments.parties wedding, social occasions to announce their
popularity is an instrument of convenience
Who cares about past antecedents or precedents of selfless work with track
record and passion for sustained social work or past records of
defections? The truth is many a times the defectors are reelected by very
same voters .Throwing in regular parties and goodies to blind the voters
momentarily is favourite tactic of deceit..
Then there iis the wiabilty factor of funding own campaign and also
donating to the party funds called as buying ticket

The real task is the ability to take path in legal debates, education
specially legal background and ability to bring in legislation. OF late the
importance of legislator has degenerated into promises of road , bridge
constructions and other activities for which Govt departments exist
Just the ability to sway crowds with emotional content based on religion
caste etc appeals to voters to identify themselves seem to work . If the
candidate proposed by any party has no support of majority of voters it is
useless to debate on such a forced choice.Independents are opportunists
but due to political disagreements such turn coats or revolutionaries
find acceptance in revolts and discontent.

What about discarding those who made it as the only profitable career and
are determined to dig in ,stick like limpets for years together. THE TALK
of new faces is only to wear a mask of difference perception that a balance
of new and old makes for a good recipe
No where in the world poaching, defections or so called toothless anti
defection legislations are in vogue. India is a glaring exceptions that has
found no export favour
Sometimes the change and an oppirtunity reactions to old regime has turned
out to be distraous experiment in oblique thinking
There is no reasonable objective criteria for selection , nominating of
candidates and with illiteracy being high the right choice always suffers.
In fact those with criminal background but not yet convivted is bane of
indian politics Muscle piwer and financial clout rules the day
So what is laudable campaign of educating voters scratch at best the
surface with doubtful outcome of desirable results

[Goanet] A CASE MERITING THE JUDICIARY TO HANG ITS ITSELF

2021-09-14 Thread Aires Rodrigues
The reported news that the disqualification petition against those 10
Congress MLAs will be heard through video-conferencing on 15th September by
a specially constituted bench of the Bombay High Court headed by Justice
K.K.Tated is just hilarious.

As Justice Tated is due to retire in three days on 18th September, the
scripted show will just go on.

The Judiciary including the Supreme Court with then Chief Justice SA Bobde
has in this case just dragged its feet and abdicated in its responsibility
to decide this matter pertaining to alleged political prostitution one way
or the other. It has been a spectacular example of Tarik Pe Tarik.

With the Assembly elections around the corner this matter will now have to
be adjudicated in the People’s Court. Jai ho
