[Goanet] Is Goa a conservative or liberal society? (ChatGPT's point of view)
Is Goa a liberal or a conservative society? Goa is a unique blend of both liberal and conservative values, which is reflected in its culture and traditions. Historically, Goa was a Portuguese colony, and its culture was influenced by European values, including liberal ideas such as religious tolerance and individual freedom. On the other hand, Goa is also a society with deep-rooted conservative values, particularly when it comes to family and social relationships. Family ties are strong in Goa, and traditional gender roles are still prevalent in many households. In recent years, Goa has undergone significant changes, with the influx of tourism, urbanization, and increased exposure to global cultures. This has led to a shift towards more liberal values, particularly among the younger generation. Overall, Goa is a society that values both tradition and modernity, with a mix of liberal and conservative values. -- FN * +91-9822122436 * 784 Saligao 403511 Bardez Goa --- YouTube Channels --- FN https://www.youtube.com/c/FrederickFNNoronha/videos or https://bit.ly/FNOnYouTube FN1 https://bit.ly/FNVideos1 FN2 https://bit.ly/FNVideos2 --- ---

[Goanet] You Are the Bearer Of Memories
Done stray thoughts: As you get older, as your siblings die or forget, those close to you depend on you for important family dates. When your extended family cannot be expected to know more about your immediate family than you do, you realize that the memory buck stops with you. On a quiet and cold Toronto evening I was listening to some classical music when my son who occasionally perfects the family tree he has created pops a question; Dad, when did your father die? My brain quickly whirs into motion trying to piece the puzzle from various related events, because I don’t remember the date, just the month and year. I have no one to ask. My wife who has a memory the sharpest of anyone I know, won’t know because it was before we were married. My mother has passed, so that route is out. All my uncles and aunts have passed, the only one living has dementia. I have no siblings. His death certificate, unlike his birth certificate was not needed over the years, so it got misplaced somewhere. What can I say to my son? I give him a date but tell him that it may not be accurate. Understandingly, he tells me: No problem there. If you don’t know it, I don’t think anyone does. I have suddenly discovered I am the sole repository for some of my family memories. Me and no one else. Roland. Toronto.
[Goanet] GOA GOVERNOR PILLAI NEEDS TO DO SOME SOUL-SEARCHING
It is appalling that Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai chose to grab that so-called Honoris Causa PH.D degree from an unrecognized and little known Logos University International which is an unaccredited private university in Florida founded only in 2006. It was incumbent for Governor Pillai to ascertain credentials and repute of that University as he is duty bound to safeguard the solemnity and sanctity of his very high position as Governor and also Chancellor of Goa University. Logos University is not recognised by our Ministry of Human Resource Development or University Grants Commission. Infact there are very stringent guidelines about such foreign universities. Governor Pillai should have sought the advice of the Vice- Chancellor of Goa University but in his own enthusiasm went ahead with acceptance of that sham honorary doctorate. An inquiry by the Ministry of Home affairs is needed on this issue since it's a foreign University not recognized by the Govt of India but possibly trying to seek legitimacy through the backdoor by influencing the Governor of a State through such cheap publicity stunts. Our central intelligence agencies need to probe if this foreign university has given similar honorary degrees to any other Governors and Politicians in a bid to influence them. Governor Pillai must urgently seek a clarification from the University Grants Commission on the legality of his honorary foreign doctorate and must gracefully surrender it. In this sordid episode there has clearly been glaring serious issues of breach of security at Goa Raj Bhavan who didn't run a check on this foreign university. This whole stage managed dubious conferring of this Degree is scandalous and smacks of a fraudulent act. It is unfortunate that the presence of distinguished Padmashree His Holiness Sadguru Brahmeshanand Acharya Swamiji and His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao, Archbishop of Archdiocese of Goa and Daman was engineered to try and legitimize this sham. Eminent personalities must tread cautiously whilst being manipulated into attending such dubious functions. Adv.
