vanz (empty coconut) Vanz is barren, so this must mean barren coconut tree (that does not yield fruit. 'One recent rage in countries like the Philippines is virgin coconut oil -- extracted from fresh coconut, not copra, by mechanical or natural means, with or without using heat. To protect the oil's essential properties chemical refining, bleaching or deodorizing is avoided. It is believed to be high in minerals and vitamins' - I do not know how far this is true - has any one compared the nutritional value of regular and 'virgin' ? Prior to extracting oil from 'copra' it is sun dried for a couple of days, and the oil practically oozes! 'lime made out of dried coconut leaves burn to ask' what does this mean?? Thanks Maurice D.

Dear FN, We must thank God and I really believe it is an act of God, because one exploded prematurely and the other was detected in time before it exploded. Because, from the first set of victims (those two carried the device in the scooter) gave away the identity of the organization they belonged to. If the bombs had exploded after they were planted, it would have been a difficult task for the investigators, and meanwhile, wrong community could have been blamed/implicated. Thanks to Mother Mary and St. Frances Xavior with whose intersession I believe this miracle occured. I hope the source of material for the explosives is found and this type of occurance does not happen again in our beloved Goa. M.D

A book that has shaped the understanding of the Goa Inquisition, specially within South Asia, though I do not agree with its portrayal. Available in bookshops, including at Rajhauns (Daulat Bldg, St Inez) or Broadway, etc. FN, Is this a revised adition? If not, more and more will deem that this is the truth about inquisition in Goa as this book heavily relies on Dellon's biased account in the first place. Unless some one brings out the truth,Iam sorry to say,this will be the impression of the Inquisition.
