Hi Ana and Eddie Perhaps the appropriate terminology might be Portuguese era Goan houses (in Goa). I agree with Eddie's idea of replicating those old homes instead of putting up concrete monstrosities just as in the UK I rather like those mock Tudor homes. However, I suspect that costs and rental returns will determine what Goa now gets. If anyone of you saw the last episode (repeat one) on Contacto Goa (RTP) featured on architecture in Goa. Even the anchor Fransisco Machado said 'There are no Portuguese houses like these in Goa in Portugual, these are Goan houses'.

Hi, I am surprised that people refer to Goan houses as Portuguese ones. We do not, I repeat do not have Portuguese houses but Goan. If anyone of you saw the last episode (repeat one) on Contacto Goa (RTP) featured on architecture in Goa. Even the anchor Fransisco Machado said 'There are no Portuguese houses like these in Goa in Portugual, these are Goan houses'. Some Goans while trying to sell their house, say 'Portuguese house'. On my visits to Portugual I have never seen houses in Goa in Portugal. Ana Maria de Souza-Goswami
