[Goanet] State mourning for what?

[Goanet] State mourning for what?

Poinginni/Canacona school went ahead with it’s school  pre-planed
event and the pople including the parents made a big issue out of it.

People seems objecting everything or everyone now a days.
I personally feel there was nothing wrong in going ahead with the
school event  which was planned well in advance.
KENDA SUDORTOLO AMCHO LOK?

Holiday is given to mark a respect to a departed soul
State mourning does mean that the people should stay indoors
and mourn the whole day

Looks like everyone or everything is given a political twist now a day.
People should  at least leave Schools and institutions etc  out of it.

Inox, which otherwise play National Anthem at the beginning of each
show, where all people stand up, was not closed on the day though

Misfiring of Rifles during the guard of honour ceremony for the
departed soul of Ravindra Kelekar..
That’s really embarrassing.
Will there be any enquiry or protest against it?
I don’t think so.

As for Sorter’s remark on Late Dr. Jack de Sequeira death/holiday
makes a valid point though.

Bakibab Borcar, TB Cunha, Menezes Braganza etc were also great men.

Quote:
One and half day's state mourning, for what? This is the question asked
by commoners on the streets of Panjim.
Who is this man Ravindra Kelekar? May have a a list of awards
and writings to his credit in hindi, devnagiri konkni and marathi,
so what? Awards confered in India do not necessarily make a man great.

We know all the controversy about awards in this country and all the
boot licking and what not that goes on to become eligible.
Was a holiday declared after the demise of Dr. Jack Sequeira, why not?
The Gandhian tag is being attached to Ravindra Kelekar, but what was
his Gandhian contribution on the front of social reconstruction in Goa
and promotion of Gandhian values. What was his contribution
to resolve the raging conflicts in Goa?  Did he raise his voice against
the injustices perpetrated on the people of Goa? Was every section comfortable
with Ravindra Kelekar? Is he so great as D.D. Kosambi
or Shenoy Goembab or B.B. Borkar? These are questions that need
to be asked.
We also join in paying our respects to Ravindrabab as a literary person
and definitely pray that eternal rest be granted for his soul.

[Goanet] State mourning for what?

Soter is smack on. Good questions. Could this have been perhaps been a
pretext for the Goa Govt. internally celebrating one stage towards a
plausible demise--accelerated erosion of Konkani.

Remember dear Vidhwans---demise in the case of a language such as Konkani
does not mean death. Consider the word before it--plausible, before going
ballistic.
