Re: [Goanet] What have Saligao Youngsters and Playground got to do with the Road - Mr. Bonnie??
Dear Mr.Agnelo Fernandes, Thank you for your encouraging words - during my stint in the army I used to get ridiculous postings ( we called them punishment postings ) sometimes in the North East , sometimes on the borders of East Bengal and even Indo- Pak (including Siachen )- and I always carried some black and white pictures of Goa in my suitcase which at nights I would just look at and dream of the day I would go back home to my peaceful and beautiful Goa - and finally I retired some years back and sadly I can say that things are worsening year after year - the filth and garbage ( smell of burning garbage and plastic is everywhere , sometimes I have to keep my windows shut during the day ) , unorganised planning of roads and infrastructure etc and ofcourse Calangute is not the same - majority in the market area either speak in Kannada, Marathi or are Bhayyas from the North and we dont have the basic infrastructure to support this influx of migrants . As a result they even urinate and defecate in open areas and Malaria cases are on the rise .Now everytime anyone gets a fever they are advised to do blood tests.*This was not the Goa I was planning to retire and live in - * Despite my poor health I make it a point to attend all GramSabhas ( Joseph Sequeira heaves a sigh when I dont )and highlight these issues . *I wish to once again thank Mr.Ashley* for taking up this onerous task of being the RP convenor and at the same time *opposing the road that is going to destroy the hillsides of Saligao.* *Col.Cyril P.D'Souza ( Retd.)* Calangute On 3/21/09, Agnelo Fernandes afernan...@cbi.com wrote: On Fri, 20 Mar 2009 15:21:03 +0530, Ashley Delaney ashley...@gmail.com wrote on the subject: Re: [Goanet] what have Saligao Youngsters and playground got to do with the road Mr. Bonnie (full text deleted) Hello Mr Cyril, Mr Bonnie, and my dear friend ASHLEY, I apologize to young Ashley for not having sent in the Congratulatory message on Thursday, 19 March, on the great efforts he is putting in as a Convenor for taking up and fighting the social evils in Saligao. It takes collossal commitment besides one's own work schedule and businesses. May the best be with him and a lot of courage too. I apologize to Col. Cyril for not having put down a word of appreciation for his efforts highlighting and fighting social evils in Calangute / Saligao, etc. May the best be with you too, Sir. I failed to understand the message in Bonnie's post. Playground and the by-pass road are two different issues and the issue in question here is the bypass road. Bonnie, please try to understand the immediate need of paying our attention according to priorities. It is not right for us to just punch keys on our keyboards, pass judgements, issue instructions, accuse inactions, whereas we, who want others to do the dirty work, are far away from Amchem Goa, waiting at the slightest opportunity to bug and criticise our fellow Goans who take up evils right there in Goa. They know the ground realities, they know the time, effort, and commitment that is needed to go through daily headaches and heartaches to see our Goa get back the place of pride of remaining the Rome of the East. Let us at least send in a word of encouragement if we cannot do anything better from far or near. Re: [Goanet] what have Saligao Youngsters and playground got to do with the road Mr. Bonnie
Hello Mr Cyril, Mr Bonnie First of all, let me thank both of you for your comments and support and much appreciated for the same. my replies are below BUT people have only the name FOXES,?but they are not cunning like FOXES, the most wanted THING for the village is the PLAYGROUND which people do seems to be having no thinking of the importance of the play ground.* most of the young boys girls are into bad habits like drinking / smoking / drugs / etc... Mr bonnie, these are hard hitting accusations indeed. Being from the village, working in it and having seen first hand what goes on, i can assure you that saligao is not at all that which u presume to be. the youth here are much more than what u think and are very enterprising. the current RP which we are doing has gone into great dept and we ahve earmarked many things for the village like garbage management site, playground etc. *The ground was proposed at Saligao in front of the school but.PEOPLE People of Saligao go to protest in calangute OK i do not understand your above statement? yes people did protest when the playground was proposed in front of loures convent for many reasons. however this entire area has now been earmarked for a massive water harvesting project which will be used to revitalise the village in the RP. (saligao of old has pictures of the area becomng a huge pond which used to recharge the village wells, somehting which stopped happeneidng about 30 or more years ago the playground exact spot will be decided at the gram sabha to finalise the plan for the vilage. 2 spots being proposed include the a massive field area outside the village on the right hand side of the rd to parra and another field area just on the opposite side of the rd where the water harvesting is going to take place. the panchayat wnats it here in the middle f the village but many villages want it outsite to decongest and take ut trafic from the village. not getting into deatils here. peace of the village . People who will really suffer if this road comes into existence are those from lowlying wards of Salmona, Donvaddo and the article on the paper failed to mention that the proposed rd goes right through the source of the world famous salmona spring those like me who are settled outside the village will support him on this issue. I dont know whether you are from Candolim , Calangute , Baga or Saligao but I request you to support the Saligao villagers by protesting against this road and come to the GramSabha meeting. yes we have already got so many people who have never come to a gram sabha before to come for ward level meetings itself to help out in planning the village. we are expective almost the entire vilage to come for the gram sabha. *About your accusation that Saligao people are dumb and the youngsters are into drinks , drugs , smoking , etc* I request you to take back your statement as I too have my young relatives living in Saligao and they have a very good upbringing and do not do any of the above vices . Please do not generalis agree with him... this can be gauged from a lil boasting abt me. i'm a youth from the village and i happen to be the convenor.. all because of he upbringing i had. if at all you see poeople who u claim are questionable. they will most likely be migrants of which we are making efforts to try and control using this RP e. Mr. Bonnie please wake up from your slumber , move out of your luxurious cell and pull up your socks , roll up your sleeves and get ready - there is a lots of work to do - theres a long road ahead we all must trod... great words col!. we in slaigao have began to do that. we have used the excuse of the regional plan to document almost 80% iregularities in the village including filling of fields etc. and we have managed to get almost the full of saligao united in their fight towards corruption. we ahve done our level best to ensure that NO political clout was allowed to interfere in our work. thanks and best reards Ashley Delaney -- Linux is to computing what freedom is to mankind...and then there's Microsoft Devine Computers Abreovaddo, Saligao, Bardez, Goa. Thanks *Bonnie Fernandes *00971508488096 ? ? Dear Mr. Bonnie Fernandes, this is with reference to the above letter I have received from you via 'goanet' - in the first place my friend you are completely missing the point - the people of Saligao ( Foxes and all ) are against the alignment of the MDR road coming from Gautam Hotel Porvorim via the hill slopes of Saligao threatening to destroy the flora , fauna and peace of the village . People who will really suffer if this road comes into existence are those from lowlying wards of Salmona, Donvaddo and Mollembhat. The convenor who will be highlighting this issue in the forthcoming Saligao GramSabha on the29th March has also threatened to move the courts on the issue. Lots of people from Saligao including those like me who are settled outside the village will support him on this issue. I dont know whether you are from Candolim , Calangute , Baga or Saligao but I request you to support the Saligao villagers by protesting against this road and come to the GramSabha meeting. *About your accusation that Saligao people are dumb and the youngsters are into drinks , drugs , smoking , etc* I request you to take back your statement as I too have my young relatives living in Saligao and they have a very good upbringing and do not do any of the above vices .
