Wanted to build church in Vanxim but Bishop sold land. Wanted to build floating
church and place in Mandovi but casinos plying trade. No place for church and
celebrations.

The last?I read, TOURISM?is Goa's largest sector of the economy; directly and
indirectly employing most Goans of?ALL caste and creed.?
To attract the tourists, (AND THEIR MONEY)?Goa needs celebrations and more
celebrations. ?For Goa's?economy these celebrations are not fun.? It is
business, money and employment.
If Catholics are concerned about being relegated, celebrate in a big way the
feast of Goa's own son St. Joseph Vaz.? Build a cathedral in his honor.??
Celebrate the other Christian festivals.

The last I read, TOURISM is Goa's largest sector of the economy; directly and
indirectly employing most Goans of ALL caste and creed.
To attract the tourists, (AND THEIR MONEY) Goa needs celebrations and more
celebrations.  For Goa's economy these celebrations are not fun.  It is
business, money and employment.
If Catholics are concerned about being relegated, celebrate in a big way the
feast of Goa's own son St. Joseph Vaz.  Build a cathedral in his honor.
Celebrate the other Christian festivals.
Nobody is holding anybody back!

[Goanet] Why Shivaji Jayanti in Goa?

2016-02-19 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

On February 19, Goa went into big celebrations of Shivaji Jayanti.
There were Banners and Saffron flags with Shivaji's face all over every 10
meters in the cities.
There were processions, merry making and fireworks till late 21:30 hours.
I would like to know, and likewise many Goans too,
1- What has Shivaji , who was a Maratha warrior got to do with GOA? He is
revered in Maharashtra!
2- Who has financed this lakhs of expenditure for the celebrations in Goa?
3- What is the hidden agenda of this celebration at such expense? Making Goa
part of Maharashtra?
4- Can the protagonists of this Maratha Shivaji show us Goans from history; in
what way Goa and Goans need to be grateful and commemorate this Marathi
warrior? In fact, as per history, Shivaji repeatedly attacked Goa to conquer
it; and was driven off several times by Sultanate of Bijapur and the Portuguese.
I smell a sinister plan here, that there are people still having hopes that Goa
merge with Maharashtra!
