Watch it, Patto is not here to defend his name

The renaming of Jalan Silibin to Jalan P Patto has caused an unusually large 
uproar from the businesses and residents in this particular area. 
Although it is natural to have opposition to this plan to change the road name, 
it must be contained within the precinct of fair comment and good faith.
After reading two news reports in The Star, one cannot deny the fact that there 
is a smack of insensitivity permeating this whole affair of renaming the road. 
If one has scant respect for P Patto and has an unstoppable urge to comment, 
please do exercise some humility because P Patto's wife and his two daughters 
are still around and most important of all, Patto is not here to defend his 
name. 
Disappointingly some of the comments have apparently gone overboard. As it 
stands, these have undeniably inflicted injury upon Patto's family as it 
degrades what they have cherished so much of him as a good husband, a good 
father and an upright politician. 
Being fair in one's comments means that one should not utter comments like 
‘Patto would not be unhappy even if a pub is named after him’. One cannot miss 
an intentional sprinkle of cruelty in this comment. 
This comment implies that Patto had spent his lifetime centering around pubs 
and wouldn't be unhappy if a pub is named after him. 
Patto once told me that when he leaves this world only his name remains. 
True to the point but I do not wish to speculate whether he would approve or 
disapprove of having a road named after him. But I am very sure that he would 
have be offended that his name is being tossed about in disrespect.
Please let him be respected as a fine, honest and humble gentleman for in the 
name of justice he had fought without fear or favour and for this very same 
reason a road will be named after him. 
When I spoke to Patto's wife over the phone a very short while ago, she was 
clearly upset and I could hear her sobbing and she said, ‘What did my husband 
do to deserve all this? My daughters and I did not demand or ask that a road be 
named after my husband’. 
No, he does not deserve all this. Let us have some decency.

I refer to the Malaysiakini report Abdul Razak: Najib not involved.
This press conference of Abdul Razak Baginda, definitely raises many more 
speculations and perceptions. One that comes to one's mind is why are you 
speaking for someone else? 
They are big enough to take care of themselves and there were ample 
opportunities for them to come forward and speak up and put to rest the many 
doubts and suspicions created in the public's mind. 
Instead, they chose to make only denials and use their political position to 
avoid being cross- examined to be proven right or wrong. 
Perhaps Abdul Razak, you were too isolated in prison to have actually known the 
various discriminatory statements and reports that were made during your 
detention which essentially, should have been thoroughly investigated and 
proven beyond reasonable doubt that they were false and vindictive and merely 
smear campaigns. 
Alas, this was not the case and thus you cannot blame the public for thinking 
that there must be some strong influence to manipulate the case. 
The big questions still remain as to who ordered the execution and where is 
Bala, a key witness to this case? The current accused and who are ordered to 
make their defence, could not have acted on their own to allegedly blow up a 
person who appears to be a total stranger to them. It points to someone out to 
protect his or her reputation and with a fear of being exposed. 
Without Bala's testimony, the case is wide open and gives room for doubt.
Therefore Abdul Razak, we the public, surely smell a rat and like in the chess 
game, the pawns are allegedly made the victims of a despicable and heinous 
crime. It does not take an expert in the field of criminology to figure this 
out. 
Abdul Razak by your press conference, it appears you want the public's sympathy 
in highlighting the 'ordeal' you went through while being locked up. But it is 
a far more traumatic for the family of the murdered girl who have lost a 
mother, daughter and sibling. It is an irreplaceable loss and those involved 
should not go scot-free and should bear the full brunt of the law.
You would have done greater justice to yourself by not commenting about this 
case at all. A person's guilt or innocence can only be proven in a court of 
law. You are also not in anyway qualified to speak up for someone else or to 
make any statement. 
Thus your statements are purely your own personal opinions and not the truth 
nor evidence. 
However, you could have entered a defence when there was a chance, to counter 
all these so- called perceptions, misconceptions and lies.
All we want to see is justice being done and the accused punished without any 
personal vengeance for anyone. Crimes that go unpunished by man, cannot escape 
the wrath of God and we are all answerable to Him, whoever we conceive Him to 
be.

More than once my Case Officers asked me, apropos of nothing in particular,
if I knew the location of the centre where I was being held. I said I did
not. In fact the location of this place, known as the Holding Centre, was a
jealously-guarded secret.. The security of the place itself, especially of
the inmates, should not be known to anyone, even to those working in the
Police Force - in fact, to no one, that is, other than the Special Branch
officers assigned directly to such duties. (p. 75)

True Lies

They said, 'Datuk Raja Abu Hanifah and Ishak Haji Mohamed have confessed. So
why should you not do so?' I was not deterred nor deluded by this line of
approach. Had they not begun to realize even yet that the answers I had
given to their questions were honest? Did they really expect me to break
down and tell some other story that would fit in with the confessions? As

In the United States, President-elect Barack Obama is prepared to appoint
his former rival Hillary Clinton as the Secretary of State. The Democratic
Party has emerged united once again after a good-willed competition.

In Malaysia, after the party elections, the split within MCA gets wider,
thanks to the appointments of party and government posts.

In the United States, Barack Obama held out the olive branch to John McCain,
and former foes were instantly turned into friends. They even issued a
common statement, vowing to cooperate and launch a new era of reform
together.

In Malaysia, political parties carry on with their intraparty fights. The
opposing camps will not call it a day until their rivals are completely
thrashed out.

By comparison, we see the stark differences between a mature democracy and a
semi-mature democracy.

Of course, the leaders' self confidence and tolerance have also been very
obviously dissimilar.

Obama is fully confident of his leadership and has a bosom big enough to lay
aside all past grudges.

Clinton has not pulled his leg, and McCain has not launched repeated
assaults on him.

But for a matured and wise leader, Obama is very clear that this is nothing
more than a natural course in the election game. Without all the ups and
downs, the election would have been an utter boredom.

A leader must know how to put down the differences after the election has
come to a close. There is no need of sweating over minor details, otherwise
how different could we be from ignorant children?

Barack Obama is a person tasked to do great things, and therefore has to set
his sights far and wide.

To include Hillary Clinton in his Cabinet is to provide an outlet for the
pent-up emotions of the Clinton faction and leftists, and Obama can
therefore rest assured that no one is going to leave a banana skin on the
floor for him to step on.

Team of Rivals has had a very excellent account of how Abraham Lincoln had
harnessed the talents. Lincoln had the exceptional power of bringing his
rivals into this team, and this not only erased any ill-feeling which had
stood between them, but also fortified his own strength so that opposing
camps could now work and move towards a greater common goal together.

After Abraham Lincoln was elected the 16th US president, he generously
extended his invitation to some of his former rivals to his Cabinet,
including New York Senator William Henry Seward as the Secretary of State,
Missouri judge Edward Bates as the US Attorney General, Ohio Governor Salmon
P Chase as the Treasury Secretary, and Democratic lawyer Edwin M Stanton as
the Secretary of War.

These "political rivals" used to belittle Lincoln's ability and judgements,
especially Seward and Stanton. But after working with him for some time,
they all became his closest allies.

The greatest contribution of Seward as the secretary of state was the
acquisition of Alaska from Russia for US$7.2 million in 1876, a deal then
ridiculed as the "Seward's Folly" but has today been proven the most
profitable deal the US has ever sealed in history.

Grateful for Lincoln's appreciation, Stanton worked as much as 15 hours a
day and became an outstanding secretary of war. At Lincoln's death, Stanton
made a remark which until this day still lingers in the US Hall of History:
"Now he belongs to the ages."

It simply takes some exceptional traits to become a real stateman.

- If your monthly EPF contribution is  11% ( RM440 ), taxable income = RM3560, 
income tax payable = RM77.
- If your monthly EPF contribution is    8% ( RM320 ), taxable income = RM3680, 
income tax payable = RM109. 
Conclusion : If you choose to contribute 8%, you will end up paying more income 
tax to the government, which will make the government richer.

Finance Minister Najib said this measure is meant to boost up the slow-down 
market, but from this example wee see that the money does not go into the 
market. Instead the money goes direct into the government's pocket through the 
greater amount of income tax that we will have to pay. 
Obviously this measure does not help the market at all. 
Do we still want this kind of government that doesn't have the best interest of 
the people in mind?

RPK membuat kejutan lagi dan kali ini kejutannya menbuat  Zahid Hamidi 
tersentak.Lapuran RPK bahawa tahanan ISA tidak dibenarkan solat jumaat 
menyebabkan Zahid Hamidi terkejut besar dan mungkin tergelincir imannya kerana 
perbuatan riddah.Apa tidaknya apabila Zahid mengesahkan dakwaan RPK dan 
menuntut rakyat tidak mempertikaikannya.Ini bermakna ISA merupakan undang 
undang yang mengatasi perintah ALLAH. 

Untuk menjastifikasikan kenyataannya,Zahid Hamidi cuba menyerang keperibadian 
RPK yang lebih terkenal dengan imej liberalnya.Zahid Hamidi dalam keadaan 
terkejut bertanya "berapa kali kah RPK pergi solat jumaat".Satu soalan yang 
agak peribadi dan menonjolkan keperibadian RPK yang liberal.Barangkali RPK

Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Yang di-Pertuan Agong sebenarnya mempunyai beberapa 
peranan dan kuasa khusus yang boleh digunapakai dalam situasi sekarang. Baginda 
boleh mendapatkan bantuan daripada Majlis Raja-Raja yang diberi kuasa oleh 
perlembagaan untuk membincangkan apa sahaja perkara yang dirasakan perlu. 


Apa peranan Yang di-Pertuan Agong dalam situasi sekarang? 

Berdasarkan undang-undang, Yang Di-Pertuan Agong perlu bertindak mengikut 
nasihat kerajaan. 
Hakikatnya, walaupun tidak disebut secara jelas dalam perlembagaan, Baginda 
perlu memastikan wujud sebuah kerajaan pada setiap masa. 

Seterusnya, jika terdapat persoalan mengenai kredibiliti dan legitimasi 
sesebuah kerajaan, Yang di-Pertuan Agong tidak boleh bersikap tunggu dan lihat 
sahaja. 
Baginda wajar bertindak proaktif dan mengawal keadaan. Tidak ada institusi lain 
yang boleh memainkan peranan ini. 

Kita tidak boleh bergantung dengan kerajaan sedia ada tatkala kesahihan 
kerajaan tersebut sendiri sedang dipertikaikan. 

Mungkin jika kita mengikut protokol dengan ketat maka Anwar tidak boleh ke 
Istana Negara sekarang. 

Dengan itu, Yang di-Pertuan Agong sewajarnya menjemput Ketua Pembangkang 
tersebut untuk mengadap dan mempersembahkan senarai ahli parlimen yang beliau 
dakwa akan menyokong beliau dalam kerajaan baru. 

Yang di-Pertuan Agong mempunyai hak untuk mendengar secara terus daripada 
ahli-ahli parlimen tersebut, sama seperti mana Sultan Selangor dan Raja Perlis 
telah memanggil mengadap ahli-ahli dewan undangan negeri mereka selepas pilihan 
raya Mac lalu. 

Sekiranya Yang di-Pertuan Agong mendapati dakwaan Anwar adalah benar dan Anwar 
memang mempunyai sokongan yang mencukupi daripada ahli-ahli parlimen, maka 
Baginda boleh menitahkan agar Abdullah meletak jawatan.

Africa) London (UK). 
 

A white woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man. Very 
disturbed by this, she called the air hostess.You obviously do not see it then 
she asked. You placed me next to a black man. I did not agree to sit next to 
someone from such a repugnant group.Give me an alternative seat. Be calm 
please, the hostess replied.
Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another 
place is available. 
 
 The hostess went away then came back a few minutes later. Madam, just as I 
thought, there are no other available seats in Economy Class. I spoke to the 
captain he informed me that there is also no seat in Business Class. All the 
same, we still have one place in First Class.
 
Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued. It is not usual for 
our company to permit someone from Economy Class to sit in First Class. 
However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous 
to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting. 
 
The Hostess turned to the black guy, said, Therefore, Sir, if you would like 
to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in First Class.At that 
moment, the other passengers, who been shocked by what they had just witnessed, 
stood up applauded.

As the opposition leader increases the pressure, the nation's biggest political 
party asks the prime minister to leave 
JED YOONG, ASIA SENTINEL Malaysia's 50-year-old political infrastructure is in 
danger of coming completely apart, with opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim amping 
up the pressure to replace Prime Minister Ahmad Abdullah Badawi unless the 
government goes after him with the draconian Internal Security Act, which 
provides for indefinite detention without trial.  
Anwar, who leads the Pakatan Rakyat, or People's Alliance, demanded Thursday 
that Prime Minister Ahmad Abdullah Badawi convene by Tuesday an emergency 
session of parliament, which is now in recess for the Muslim fasting month of 
Ramadan, to allow a no-confidence vote against the premier.  
Abdullah Badawi was weakened further Thursday when the Sabah Progressive Party 
(SAPP), which has two lawmakers in parliament, said it would quit the Barisan 
Nasional, or national ruling coalition. SAPP president Yong Teck Lee said the 
party would become independent, but attacked the government, saying that "the 
Barisan Nasional has lost its moral authority to rule."  Yong is said to be 
close to Anwar ever since the latter enticed him to switch sides in Sabah state 
elections in 1994.   The party has split with two federal lawmakers and two 
state legislators sticking to Yong, and another two state legislators moving to 
a splinter party. Yong’s Deputy disagreed with SAPP's move and resigned from 
SAPP 
The Barisan itself has been on a downward spiral since March 8, when it lost 
its two-thirds majority in parliament for the first time since Malaysia became 
an independent country 50 years ago. Abdullah Badawi has largely been made the 
scapegoat, partly because he is perceived as weak leader, partly because of 
implacable attacks by the former prime minister, Mahathir Mohamad, and partly 
because of deteriorating economic fundamentals as the global economy goes into 
decline.  
With Anwar breathing down their necks, senior leaders, including cabinet 
ministers, of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the largest 
ethnic party that helms the Barisan Nasional, held an emergency meeting of the 
Supreme Council at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur last night to openly 
call for Badawi's resignation as party president and the country's prime 
minister. Such a move is rare among the usually-complaisant politicians.  But 
the editor of a popular Malay-language weekly says UMNO may be united in 
"hatred" for Anwar. 
 Within UMNO itself, said a Kuala Lumpur political observer with ties to the 
party, the concern about Anwar taking over could trigger the use of the ISA 
against him. Abdullah Badawi threatened to use the law against Anwar on 
Tuesday. There is considerable concern among UmNO stalwarts that if Anwar takes 
over, he will seek to prosecute some top officials for corruption, along with 
law enforcement officials who engineered his imprisonment in 1999 on sexual 
deviation and corruption charges. 
Concern about Anwar could also cause UMNO's leaders to hold their noses and 
select Najib Tun Razak, the scandal-scarred deputy prime minister, to replace 
him although Najib is saddled by numerous allegations of corruption as well as 
complicity in the October 2006 death of a 28-year-old Mongolian translator who 
is widely believed to have been his lover before he handed her on to his best 
friend, Abdul Razak Baginda.  
Badawi tried to neutralize his possible forcible ejection from the leadership 
by swapping portfolios with Najib on Wednesday.  Najib is the now finance 
minister while Badawi is also defense minister, a position held by Najib for 14 
years. Badawi told a press conference Wednesday that he could leave earlier 
than 2010 under his announced plan to hand the premiership to Najib. 
"I will decide when I want to go. I will not be staying more than 2010," he 
told reporters. "If I should want to go earlier, that is flexible. That is the 
flexibility we have arranged. It depends on the progress of the role I am 
giving to Najib. Let's see what he can do." 
Mahathir, who has carried on a three-year vendetta to rid the leadership of 
Abdullah Badawi, has issued an ultimatum to Najib to take over or be taken out 
along with the prime minister. If Najib takes over, however, that will be 
handing the leadership of UMNO back to the same people who raised popular 
disgust over corruption and nepotism in the party. 
In addition to the possibility of being jailed under the ISA, Anwar also faces 
charges that he sodomized a 23-year-old aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

sodomy, the government appears to be going ahead with plans to charge Anwa

PENANG: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a threat only to the Barisan Nasional (BN) 
and Umno, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s position, and 
not to all Malaysians, said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Lim, who was asked to comment on Abdullah’s statement that Anwar was a threat 
to the nation’s security and economy, said Malaysians in general did not share 
Abdullah’s views.
“The people in Permatang Pauh did not think so, neither do other Malaysians. 
The only threat that Anwar poses is to Umno, BN and also Abdullah himself, and 
this should not be confused as a threat to the entire nation, including the 
democratic and political process in the country.
“Malaysia is not Umno/BN and Umno/BN is not Malaysia. It is wrong, incorrect 
and irresponsible of Abdullah to say so.

“I hope the ISA (Internal Security Act) threat is just a remark and not a 
prelude to a bigger operation which would affect the country,” he told 
reporters at the launch of the Penang Free WiFi project yesterday.
Lim also congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on his 
appointment as the finance minister. He said he would seek a meeting with Najib 
to foster a constructive and fruitful relationship between the state and 
federal government.
“I will seek to brief him on the situation in Penang and areas of cooperation 
where the federal government and state government can achieve a win-win 
situation.
“Even though we do not have a finance minister from Penang, we hope that Najib 
will prove that he will be fair to Penangites,” he added.
Lim said there were a few issues which would be brought up with Najib, given 
that Penangites paid taxes in excess of RM5 billion each year, and deserved a 
fair share of the nation’s wealth.
On SAPP’s withdrawal from BN, Lim said he hoped that more BN component parties 
including MCA and Gerakan would leave the coalition, especially after the 
latest ISA arrests.
“MCA and Gerakan keep opposing the ISA arrests outside, but within the cabinet 
they just shut up. They don’t practise what they preach and we can see who is 
sincere, like Datuk Zaid Ibrahim who quit as minister because of his steadfast 
principle against the ISA arrests. Let the people decide who has principles, 
when it matters,” he added.

kepada ekonomi dan keselamatan negara.

Semalam dalam satu sidang media di Putrajaya Abdullah menuduh Anwar membawa 
ancaman kepada ekonomi dan keselamatan negara. 

Perdana Menteri itu juga mengugut akan menahan Anwar dibawah Akta Keselamatan 
Dalam Negeri.
“AMK memberi peringatan keras kepada Abdullah agar tidak menjerumuskan negara 
ini ke kancah kekacauan dengan membuat lebih banyak tangkapan-tangkapan tanpa 
bicara atau tindakan-tindakan lain yang boleh menjejaskan keharmonian dan 
kestabilan negara,” tamhbahnya lagi.

Menurut Shamsul lagi, AMK menggesa Abdullah untuk meminta Yang DiPertua Dewan 
Rakyat memanggil segera sidang khas Dewan Rakyat bagi membolehkan BN 
membentangkan usul yakin (motion of confidence) kepada Abdullah untuk terus 
menjadi Perdana Menteri.

“Sekiranya Abdullah mendapat sokongan majoriti Ahli Dewan Rakyat, maka ia akan 
menstabilkan keadaan negara. Jika sebaliknya, maka Anwar Ibrahim akan dapat 
membentuk kerajaan baru dengan aman.

I urge all readers of this blog - brother and sister Muslims, Christians, 
Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and others - to continuing praying for the immediate 
release of all ISA detainees.
When we think of ISA detainees now, we think of what Raja Petra, Teresa Kok and 
the Hindraf Five must be going through now. But there are about 60 other 
detainees - and a whole lot of human suffering, including that of their 
families.

If you are Muslim, you might like to reflect on what Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh 
wrote:

The ISA is against Islam for it violates the principles of truth and justice as 
mentioned in the Holy Book of Al-Qur’an in Chapters An-Nisa’, As-Syura, and 
An-Nahl, verses 58, 15 and 90 respectively. To arrest and detain a person only 
and only on the basis of suspicion and without trial, without opportunity to 
defend oneself is forbidden and considered haram in Islam. Even if the 
Government wishes to detain a person for preventive purposes, the matter must 
be decided in an open court. Detention without trial - without the opportunity 
to defend oneself in an open court - violates the rights and denies the 
guarantee that Islam provides to all individuals. The guarantee is that 
everyone has a right to freedom and well-being.

Equanimity (upekkha) is the quality of being emotionally calm, balanced and 
even, especially when confronted with difficult situations. Sometimes it is 
also called equipoise (susamahita) or being centered (majjhatta). Equanimity is 
the last of the four Brahma Viharas, one of the different ways love can express 
itself. It can be difficult, impossible even, to feel warm friendly regard to 
someone who has hurt us or who is unapologetically evil. The way we can express 
love to such a person is by remaining calm, unmoved and free from hatred. From 
this stance it will be much easier to open up to that person when we have 
developed our love more strongly. Equanimity is also a skilful way to respond 
to the many temptations, provocations and sensual impressions that assail us 
every day. It will allow us to keep our sense of balance and, as the Buddha 
said, to ‘walk evenly over the uneven’ (S.I,4).

September 16th, 2008. Whether it happens today, tomorrow, or the day after,
Malaysians will get a government that they are entitled to, one that stands

Rakyat has the numbers. Even if they do not, even if it takes us a few more
months or years to get to a point where Malaysia will look like it does in
this photograph, with or without the Pakatan Rakyat, we will get there. I am
convinced of this.

Welcome to a born-again Malaysia!

SEPT 16 - This is perhaps the second Sept 16 so many Malaysians have been
excited about. The first, of course, was 45 years ago, in 1963. Probably for
simplicity sake, the coming together of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore
as one nation was supposed to be on Aug 31, the same date as Malaya"s
independence.

But as fate, and opposition from Indonesia and the Philippines, would have
it, Malaysia's formation was slightly delayed, leaving the new nation with
two birthdays. Not surprisingly, Malaysians from the peninsula pay far less
attention to Sept 16 than our Sabah and Sarawak brothers and sisters.

In 2008, we are on the cusp of history once more. It is not without
significance that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim cleverly chose Sept 16 as a
self-imposed deadline. He could have picked, say, the first Tuesday of
December, but he went with the date on which our nation was truly born, a
date that continues to serve as a point of contention for East Malaysians as
representative of how Putrajaya has little regard for their interests, a
date that remains a regular day for much of the country despite its
significance, which also happens to be something Pakatan Rakyat wants to
change. In other words, 45 years on, Malaysia could be on the verge of being
born again as a nation. This time as a functional democracy, something that
we put on hold in the name of stability and economic development at heavy
cost.

Like 45 years ago, there is resistance and opposition. There is uncertainty,
fear and tension, some real, some orchestrated. This isn't surprising. The
status quo will never stand by idly waiting while change takes over. In
fact, the status quo bets that Malaysians will retreat back into our
suspicious ways once enough pressure has been applied, so it is choosing to
crush the hopes of all of us who are optimistically dreaming of a new
Malaysia by using the same old tactics. The best way to discourage
Malaysia's maturing into a functional democracy less obsessed with race is
to divide the people further and prevent us from uniting for a larger cause.

So we now have, on this Malaysia Day, new ISA detainees, fabricated
accusations of religious interference, a clampdown on the media and many
other unsettling developments. All of which, I believe, are designed to
create a state of unease and fatigue among Malaysians. But we also have, on
this Malaysia Day, a citizenry that is considerably more enlightened, one
that is more likely to see through the cynical manner race is exploited like
a trump card by those afraid of losing all power.

This Malaysia Day, Malaysians are saying, "Enough!"' Enough of using the ISA
as a political tool. Of using real people as pawns in their game. Enough of
politicians who cause hate among Malaysians, then exploit it for what it's
worth. Enough to an entire nation being held hostage by the likes of Datuk
Ahmad Ismail. Enough of Sabah and Sarawak being treated like second-class
states. Enough of the blatant corruption, lies, mismanagement and downright
incompetence. Enough, in other words, of Barisan Nasional rule - it is time
for all right-thinking MPs to seriously consider crossing the floor as the
moral thing to do.

SINGAPORE - If Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim is successful in his 
historic bid to form a reformist government in Kuala Lumpur, he will likely owe 
much to the country's Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak. 
Anwar claimed on Tuesday he had secured the parliamentary numbers needed to 
topple Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi's beleaguered government and called for 
"handover talks" towards a peaceful political transition. The government 
refuted that claim, saying Anwar was employing the "politics of distraction" 
because he failed to achieve his avowed September 16 deadline to seize power 
through parliamentary defections. 
The large, lightly populated and culturally distinctive states on the northern 
coast of Borneo island, separated by the small oil rich Sultanate of Brunei, 
are now key to Anwar's ambitions. Should their members of parliament shift 
their loyalties away from the ruling Barison Nasional (BN) coalition 
government, their defections would be decisive for Anwar's Pakatan Rakyat 
alliance. 
After the dramatic March 8 election, which saw the United Malays Nasional 
Organization (UMNO)-led BN coalition suffer its worse result since it first 
took government on independence from Britain in 1957, Sabah and Sarawak 
together now account for 55 out of the BN's 140 parliamentary seats. With 
Pakatan Rakyat holding sway over 82 seats, Anwar needs to woo a little over 50% 
of the Borneo seats to form a new government. 
Helping Anwar's cause is the fact that about 40 of these 55 are from small 
parties in alliance with the dominant UMNO, which has led the national 
government and shaped Malaysia's political direction for five decades. To bring 
Borneo members on side, Anwar has offered to give the East Malaysian states a 
greater share of petroleum revenues, from 5% to 20% - an especially enticing 
offer given US$100 plus a barrel global oil prices - and greater autonomy 
generally. 
Of the two states, it may be Sabah's MPs that are prone to lean first towards 
Anwar. With Sabah lagging well behind other Malaysian states in its level of 
economic development, Anwar has said greater petroleum revenue sharing would 
only be the redistributive start to remedy the BN's severe neglect of the 
state. According to the government's own national development plan, the 
incidence of poverty in Sabah is four times the national average. 
Another point of contention between Sabah and the central government is the 
issue of illegal immigration, with many Sabahans feeling that Kuala Lumpur has 
not done enough to control the entry of migrants from nearby and even poorer 
southern Philippines and Indonesia. Anwar can also promise those BN MPs from 
Sabah who cross the floor some of the spoils of office, in terms of ministerial 
appointments in his new government. 
The region's political dynamics and relationships with Kuala Lumpur are steeped 
in a complicated history. Formerly British crown colonies, and, before that, in 
the case of Sarawak, ruled by the so-called "White Rajah" Brookes family - 
three generations of Englishmen who fashioned the borders of present day 
Sarawak independent of London - and Sabah, once run by the British North Borneo 
Company, a company chartered by Queen Victoria, the two joined Malaya and 
Singapore to form Malaysia on September 16, 1963. 
The lightly populated states, together making up just 5.5 million of Malaysia's 
27 million, are socially and culturally different from peninsular Malaysia. 
Non-Muslim indigenous Dayak peoples of various tribes - Iban in Sarawak and 
Kadazan and Dusun in Sabah are the largest - are mostly Christian Anglicans or 
Catholics, along with ethnic Chinese, and make up the large majorities in both 
Sarawak and Borneo. 
Muslim Malays and the small percentage of Dayaks who are Muslim make up less 
than 25% of the population in both states, compared to the peninsula where 
Muslim Malays make up about 60%. It is now notable that their federation with 
the peninsula in 1963 was a rush affair. 
The British believed, in the Cold War context of the time, that both their and 
the region's best interests would be served by the incorporation of the two 
states into a new Malaysia, especially given the claims by Indonesia's 
president Sukarno that they should become part of Indonesian Kalimantan to the 
south. Intertwined with this was the fate of Singapore. 
Arguments for the inclusion of Singapore into the new federation, argued by 
both the British and Singapore's leader, Lee Kuan Yew, could only be accepted 
by the UMNO, that is, Malay-led government in Kuala Lumpur of Tunku Abdul 
Rahman, if the Borneo states were also included. 
Their Malay and Dayak populations would ensure a non-Chinese or bumiputra "sons 
of the soil" majority in the new Malaysia. (Singapore was later to go its own 
way after being pushed out of the federation by Kuala Lumpur

Manakala ada pemimpin lain pula menyebut jangan jadi macam Mat Jenin jika
kerajaan baru tidak berteraskan Islam.
Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz yang juga Menteri Besar Kelantan berkata, pemerintahan
diterajui Umno dan BN sekarang tidak menunjukkan matlamat yang jelas sama ada
menuju pemerintahan Islam atau mengamalkan demokrasi.
“Kerja-kerja Umno dan rekod buruknya menjadikan parti itu Islam pun tidak,
demokrasi pun tidak,” katanya.

Ketua Penerangan PKR, Tian Chua berkata  pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat akan mengadap 
Yang di-Pertuan Agong sekiranya Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad 
Badawi enggan bertemu mereka untuk membincangkan peralihan kuasa secara aman 
dari Barisan Nasional.

Ini akan berlaku dalam tempoh 24 hingga 48 jam. Demikian malaysiakini

Tian Chua sewaktu merujuk kepada sedang akhbar penasihat PKR itu jam 2 petang 
tadi menambah bahawa:

Awal pagi ini, AFP memetik Bendahari PAS, Dr Hatta Ramli sebagai berkata, 
Pakatan Rakyat akan menghadap Yang di-Pertuan Agong bagi mendapatkan mandat 
untuk memerintah, sekiranya Abdullah enggan bertemu mereka.

Menurutnya, isu pelantikan perdana menteri dan pertukaran kerajaan membabitkan 
peranan baginda.

Dr Hatta mendakwa, Pakatan kini mendapat sokongan dari 116 ahli Parlimen. Ini 
bermakna 35 ahli parlimen kerajaan telah menyertai Pakatan.

Anwar berkata, beliau telah mendapat lebih daripada 31 ahli parlimen dari BN, 
yang diperlukan untukk menubuhkan kerajaan baru dan menggesa Abdullah supaya 
tidak menguatkuasakan undang-undang darurat untuk menghalang peralihan kuasa.

Anwar menegaskan demikian dalam sidang akhbarnya di Ibu Pejabat Parti KeADILan 
Rakyat dekat sini. Antara pemimpin yang hadir ialah, Presiden KeADILan, Dato' 
Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Setiausaha Agung PAS, Dato' Kamarudin Jaffar, 
AJK DAP Pusat, Tan Kok Wai. 

Harakahdaily melaporkan Anwar tidak menafikan antaranya adalah yang berjawatan 
Menteri, Timbalan Menteri serta lain-lain pemegang jawatan utama dari pelbagai 
parti. 

Walaupun diasak pelbagai desakan wartawan meminta beliau mengemukakan senarai 
tersebut, Anwar bagaimanapun enggan berbuat demikian kerana bimbang ahli-ahli

Selepas pilihanraya umum 8 Mac lalu, Anwar telah menetapkan 16 September 
sebagai tarikh untuk menarik sekurang-kurangnya 30 ahli parlimen kerajaan 
menyertai Pakatan untuk memulihkan beliau menubuhkan kerajaan baru.

On ISA crackdown as Pak Lah faces dissension

Flaneur: I have no words left to describe the latest moves by our honourable 
and beloved leaders who are so deeply revered by the rakyat that it bleeds the 
heart just to hear them proclaim their actions stem from their concern for the 
people's welfare and safety. 

Using the thesaurus to find synonyms for dirty politicians, one would still be 
totally lost for words to describe these fellows. The innocent get arrested 
while the corrupt are still free to roam. 

A travesty of justice honed to perfection by a regime afflicted with dementia 
(a disease caused by a gradual death of brain cells leading to... insanity?). 
Didn't someone once say, ‘those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make 
mad?’ 

John Z: I knew Ahmad Ismail’s punishment, however light-handed, was too good to 
be true, that Umno was actually turning over a new leaf.

The arrests of the three is uncalled for, especially of the reporter. It's akin 
to ultimately punishing the person who shouted ‘fire’ instead of the actual 
person who lit the match and started the fire. The logic being that if the 
person did not shout fire, the house would have burnt quietly to the ground 
with nobody ever having known the existence of the fire.

What kind of justice is that? I guess Umno wants to drill into our heads that 
in their Malaysia, justice is not blind, it looks at skin colour and political 
affiliation. 

And I would like to bring your attention to the supposedly ‘new and improved’ 
MCA. Where is the outrage from the people that matter? Namely the presidential 
hopefuls of Ong Tee Keat, Chua Jui Meng and Chua Soi Lek? Their silence once 
again proves that MCA is too cowardly to do anything for the rakyat.

Kumar: As the Sept 16 dateline approaches, an increasingly panicky Umno has 
resorted to use of the ISA to create a climate of fear. While pretending to act 
against racism and religious bigotry, the government is in fact, trying to stir 
up these issues to make it seem as though Malays and Muslims are under attack. 

How else can we explain action against three dailies simply for reporting the 
racial slurs of Ahmad Ismail? While the unapologetic Ahamd was let off with a 
punishment of no real consequence, the Sin Chew reporter was slammed with the 
ISA. 

The ISA jackhammer was also used against MP Teresa Kok for allegedly 
complaining about the call to prayers from a mosque. This is hardly a matter of 
national emergency.

Those who bleated about democratic principles being compromised by MPs crossing 
over to bring down the BN government should now hang their heads in shame. If 
this present government is not brought down as soon as possible, it will 
destroy the last remaining shred of democratic principles that the nation still 
holds and we can expect the next general elections to be in the style of 
Zimbabwe.

Doc: In the light of recent events, I am very disappointed with the muteness of 
top leaders in the coalition party within BN. After years of our undivided 
support, have they no empathy towards the grassroots?

It is time that they put their selfish agendas aside and support the rakyat. 
They must stand up and be counted. Having a stand which goes against the status 
quo is better than being ultimately vilified and despised by the very people 
they profess to serve.
 
Glo: What a nasty shock to read that the despicable and unjust ISA has once 
again been employed by the government to silence and intimidate the rakyat.
 
And why? All because of a threat of being toppled by Pakatan Rakyat. These 
actions have contributed and hastened its demise as a credible government as it 
resorts to acts of intimidation and thuggery in an attempt to stay in power. 
Sadly, any slender hope of reformation that might have been held by the rakyat 
has evaporated.
 
Ultimately, this episode (and all like it) are damaging Malaysia's image 
internationally. Without a doubt, the eyes of the world are watching us and the 
government is disgracing Malaysia on the world stage in 2008.
 
Please release RPK, Teresa Kok and Tan Hoon Cheng immediately.
 
Loyal Malaysian: So, the sword has been unsheathed. But not for the course of 
justice and fairness. But as a tool for intimidation and punishing the 
messenger, while Ahmad Ismail can rub our faces in his defiant roadshow.

So, as of now, three personalities who were in their own way trying to bring 
about a more just, fair, democratic and civil society in Malaysia have been 
incarcerated under the ISA. I have no doubt many more will follow.

So, even as I have misgivings about the morality of Anwar Ibrahim’s September 
16 takeover plan, this development shows that such concerns are misplaced.

When Anwar was sent to goal in Sungai Buloh by the then Prime Minister of 
Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad in 1998, he launched the Free Anwar 
Campaign. Now, it is time that we start a Free Raja Petra Movement.
This September 15 meet will hopefully result in a nation wide campaign to Free 
Raja Petra and the not to be forgotten others who are now under ISA detention. 
I also appeal to Amnesty International and Journalists Without Borders, and 
other Human Rights Organisations around the world for their support and 
cooperation. 
My Fellow Malaysians, we cannot be indifferent anymore. But in showing our 
concern, let us keep the peace and deny the present Badawi government, which is 
under siege of their own making, the chance to declare a state of emergency in

Allow me to quote again from the man who crafted the ISA,the late Reginald H 
Hicklings: 
“I could not imagine then that the time would come when the power of detention, 
carefully and deliberately interlocked with Article 149 of the Constitution, 
would be used against political opponents, welfare workers and others dedicated 
to non-violent, peaceful activities.”

“Organised violence” was the key to the preamble of the ISA and that I had 
drafted to detain communist insurgents without trial, but in later years, a lot 
of people were being arrested who had nothing to do with organised violence 
(communist insurgencies) at all.”

Popular Opposition Leader, the late Tan Chee Khoon said about the ISA:

“This infernal and heinous instrument has been enacted by the Alliance 
Government at a time when the emergency was supposed to be over. Then it 
promptly proceeds to embody all the provisions of the Emergency Regulations 
which during the Emergency had to be re-enacted every year, but now it is 
written into the statute book ad infinitum…”


And what about this one:

Prior to becoming Prime Minister, Mahathir had also adhered to a critical view 
of the ISA. In 1966, when Mahathir spoke out in support of the Internal 
Security (Amendment) Bill 1966 as a backbencher, he stated that “no one in his 
right senses like[s] the ISA. It is, in fact, a negation of all the principles 
of democracy.”

After becoming Prime Minister however the Tun had little if any hesitation 
using the law to suppress what he termed racialism but was seen by some as a 
move against his political opponents, the most notable of events being the 
infamous Operasi Lalang in 1987. But Najib was left scot-free and he was the 
most guilty.
I will want to find out WHO signed the order to detain RPK because:

Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, went on the record in 1988 
to state: 

“If we want to save Malaysia and Umno, Dr Mahathir (then Prime Minister) must 
be removed. He uses draconian laws such as the Internal Security Act to silence 
his critics.” 
The year before, he had also stated:
“Laws such as the Internal Security Act have no place in modern Malaysia. It is 
a draconian and barbaric law.”

RPK, ISA And The Rest Of Us
Malaysiakini reports that RPK has been detained by the police under the ISA. At 
the time of publication, the RPK was still at his house with police officers.
The news has spread fast. With it are concerns that a wider 1987 type crackdown 
is going to happen or that even worse, there is going to be chaos and racial 
violence.
We must remain calm. Reactionary behaviour and fear mongering is not going to 
make things any more sensible or easier. Things will unfold as they have to.
The Government must also do its part and explain clearly how RPK is a threat to 
national security and why he has been detained. He had presented himself 
everytime he was asked to at police stations and in court. He has been charged, 
has not attempted to flee the jurisdiction and has indicated his desire to

Paklah sudah diperangkap oleh orangnya sendiri, perancangan asal untuk 
membangkitkan perasaan bersatu orang melayu dalam menghadapi 16September kini 
beralih kepada krisis perkauman dan krisis Umno bersama Parti Komponen. dalam 
kenyataan Presiden PPP Dr M Kaveyas kepada pemberita selepas mesyuarat 
tertinggi BN ia berkata " inilah suasana paling luar biasa yang dihadapi BN 
sepanjang 15tahun pengalamannya". 

ya! kini bukan Umno sahaja yang mendesak pengunduran Paklah tetapi parti 
komponen dalam BN juga.masalah dihadapi Paklah makin bertambah apabila Dr 
mahathir mengumumkan akan menyertai semula Umno sehinggakan Paklah tidak mampu 
memberikan respon kepada soalan wartawan berkenaan kemasukan Dr Mahathir. 

Seperti dirancang,Sebenarnya Ahmad Ismail juga terlibat memerangkap Paklah, 
buktinya pada hari yang sama dia menyerang kaum Cina seperti orang Yahudi di 
Amerika, Khir Toyo juga menulis dalam Blognya bahawa jika Paklah tidak meletak 
jawatan peristiwa 13Mei bakal berulang. kenyataan Ahmad Ismail dan Khir toyo 
pada hari yang sama tentang soal perkauman seperti dirancang. sehari sebelum 
Ahmad Ismail membuat sidang medianya menyerang kaum Cina, dalam perjumpaan 
dengan Paklah Ahmad Ismail telah bersetuju untuk membetulkan kenyataanya dengan 
nada yang lebik baik. tetapi apa yang berlaku adalah sebaliknya, kenyataan 
Ahmad Ismail lebih racist dari sebelumnya. ia turut mengejutkan Paklah.dan 
dalam waktu yang sama Paklah diperlihatkan seperti perancang sebenar 
membangkitkan Api perkauman. seperti dirancang,kesoknnya Muhyidin Yasin 
mendedahkan Dr Mahathir akan menyertai semula Umno dan Mukhriz Mahathir

Paklah terlepas pandang adalah Khir Toyo & tengku Adnan adalah Proksi Mahathir. 
Tg Adnan juga kini mencari jalan selamat untuk mengelak kes Video Vk Lingam 
yang akan memerangkap dirinya. Tg Adnan sendiri mahu Dr Mahathir kembali dan 
Paklah dijatuhkan.agar Tg adnan dan mahathir terlepas dari kes Video Vk Lingam 
yang sedang dibicarakan.

Ingat siapapun mungkin tidak menyangka Mahathir antara watak utama dalam isu 
Perkauman yang ditimbulkan akhir akhir ini, taktik Dr Mahathir sama dengan 
taktiknya dahulu menjatuhkan PM pertama Tengku Abdul rahman, ketika dia dipecat 
Umno dia membuat pelbagai fitnah keatas Tg Abdul Rahman dan akhirnya 
menimbulkan semangat perkauman untuk survival politiknya. itulah dahulu Dr 
Mahathir dikenali sebagai Ultra Melayu, kini dia membuat dengan cara yang sama. 
namun apa yang Dr Mahathir lupa zaman sekarang bukan seperti zaman dahulu. 
tindakan kamu akan cepat dihidu.Dr mahathir , Tg Adnan, Khir Toyo bersama Ahmad 
Ismail memerangkap Umno pulau Pinang dan Paklah kerana mahu mendesak Paklah 
meletakkan jawatan dengan kadar segera. apa pun caranya termasuk mengapi apikan 
semangat perkauaman matlamat mereka adalah satu, mereka mahu Paklah meletakkan 
jawatan dengan segera. Dr Mahathir telah berjaya memaksa parti Komponen BN 
mendesak Paklah meletak jawatan.itulah sebabnya

lagi selamat bersama anak dan menantunya. jika orang Mahathir berjaya 
menggulingkan Paklah, nasib Paklah dan Khairy akan teruk dibuatnya oleh orang 
Dr mahathir yang selama ini menyimpan dendam kesumat kepada Paklah terutama 
menantunya Khairy jamaluddin. Paklah sendiri tahu betapa kejamnya dr mahathir 
andai dia menyimpan dendam, lihat saja apa yang dilakukan Dr Mahathir ketas 
Anwar, sudah tentu Paklah dan Khairy memahami apa nasib yang bakal diterima 
mereka andai Paklah kehilangan kuasa.

Satu cara paling selamat adalah dengan berunding dengan Anwar! sudah tentu 
adegan Khairy menyerahkan Pasport kerumah Anwar melalui pintu dapur akan 
kembali berulang.kini mungkin Khairy akan menyerahkan surat serah kuasa kepada 
Anwar, dengan syarat Paklah dan menantunya tidak diganggu selepas Pakatan 
rakyat berkuasa. dengan cara itu sahaja Paklah dan menantunya akan selamat. 
tidak ada seorangpun dalam Umno boleh memberikan jaminan Politik, kerana tidak 
pernah diantara mereka berpegang pada janji, lihat sahajalah Muhyidin Yasin 
yang pada awalnya bersetuju dengan peralihan kuasa 2010 akhirnya mendesak 
Paklah berundur. yang lebih dahsyatnya kali ini Muhyidin bersama Dr mahathir &

There is surely no nation in the world that holds "racism" in greater horror 
than does the United States. Compared to other kinds of offenses, it is thought 
to be somehow more reprehensible. The press and public have become so used to 
tales of murder, rape, robbery, and arson, that any but the most spectacular 
crimes are shrugged off as part of the inevitable texture of American life. 
"Racism" is never shrugged off. For example, when a white Georgetown Law School 
student reported earlier this year that black students are not as qualified as 
white students, it set off a booming, national controversy about "racism." If 
the student had merely murdered someone he would have attracted far less 
attention and criticism. 
Racism is, indeed, the national obsession. Universities are on full alert for 
it, newspapers and politicians denounce it, churches preach against it, America 
is said to be racked with it, but just what is racism? 
Dictionaries are not much help in understanding what is meant by the word. They 
usually define it as the belief that one's own ethnic stock is superior to 
others, or as the belief that culture and behavior are rooted in race. When 
Americans speak of racism they mean a great deal more than this. Nevertheless, 
the dictionary definition of racism is a clue to understanding what Americans 
do mean. A peculiarly American meaning derives from the current dogma that all 
ethnic stocks are equal. Despite clear evidence to the contrary, all races have 
been declared to be equally talented and hard-working, and anyone who questions 
the dogma is thought to be not merely wrong but evil. 
The dogma has logical consequences that are profoundly important. If blacks, 
for example, are equal to whites in every way, what accounts for their poverty, 
criminality, and dissipation? Since any theory of racial differences has been 
outlawed, the only possible explanation for black failure is white racism. And 
since blacks are markedly poor, crime-prone, and dissipated, America must be 
racked with pervasive racism. Nothing else could be keeping them in such an 
abject state. 
All public discourse on race today is locked into this rigid logic. Any 
explanation for black failure that does not depend on white wickedness 
threatens to veer off into the forbidden territory of racial differences. Thus, 
even if today's whites can find in their hearts no desire to oppress blacks, 
yesterday's whites must have oppressed them. If whites do not consciously 
oppress blacks, they must oppress them unconsciously. If no obviously racist 
individuals can be identified, then societal institutions must be racist. Or, 
since blacks are failing so terribly in America, there simply must be millions 
of white people we do not know about, who are working day and night to keep 
blacks in misery. The dogma of racial equality leaves no room for an 
explanation of black failure that is not, in some fashion, an indictment of 
white people. 
The logical consequences of this are clear. Since we are required to believe 
that the only explanation for non-white failure is white racism, every time a 
non-white is poor, commits a crime, goes on welfare, or takes drugs, white 
society stands accused of yet another act of racism. All failure or misbehavior 
by non-whites is standing proof that white society is riddled with hatred and 
bigotry. For precisely so long as non-whites fail to succeed in life at exactly 
the same level as whites, whites will be, by definition, thwarting and 
oppressing them. This obligatory pattern of thinking leads to strange 
conclusions. First of all, racism is a sin that is thought to be committed 
almost exclusively by white people. Indeed, a black congressman from Chicago, 
Gus Savage, and Coleman Young, the black mayor of Detroit, have argued that 
only white people can be racist. Likewise, in 1987, the affirmative action 
officer of the State Insurance Fund of New York issued
 a company pamphlet in which she explained that all whites are racist and that 
only whites can be racist. How else could the plight of blacks be explained 
without flirting with the possibility of racial inequality? 
Although some blacks and liberal whites concede that non-whites can, perhaps, 
be racist, they invariably add that non-whites have been forced into it as 
self-defense because of centuries of white oppression. What appears to be 
non-white racism is so understandable and forgivable that it hardly deserves 
the name. Thus, whether or not an act is called racism depends on the race of 
the racist. What would surely be called racism when done by whites is thought 
to be normal when done by anyone else. The reverse is also true. 
Examples of this sort of double standard are so common, it is almost tedious to 
list them: When a white man kills a black man and uses the word "nigger" while 
doing so, there is an enormous media uproar and the nation beats its collective 
breast; when

Is Our Future Bleak?

If you ask Malaysians who feel pessimistic about the country’s future
to rise up their hand, I am sure you will find a sea of hands. The
fact is people do not feel encouraged in the current economic and
political gloom.

It is wrong to blame the state of our economy entirely on the perverse
domestic politics. But it is not incorrect to say that the current
political dilemma does not help to encourage a more positive economic
outlook. Perception is an important barometer for consumer spending
and business investment. A negative economic perception will slow down
demand and lower business investment.

It is foolish to think that by lowering retail oil price, our economy
will roar back fuelled by a tandem increase in domestic demand. Again,
Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi has asked Malaysians to seek divine
intervention to lower the price of crude oil. We should instead pray
for sense and sensibility of our politicians and policy makers.

What is driving the bearish sentiment of our local economy is the
current uncertainty of the future of Malaysia. Malaysians simply are
losing hope that this country will recover from its continuous slide.
Then again, we cannot blame them from losing hope when many of us
actually losing sleep over our own job security and soaring cost of
living. Inflation last quarter has shot up to 8.6% which is the
highest in 26 years.

The newly tabled 2009 budget is unexpectedly huge at RM207.6 billion
and yet showed very little indication that it will be able to create
more jobs and business opportunities for the people. Some managed a
cynical grin over the offer of RM20 free electricity bill knowing that
this sounds rather ridiculous.

Malaysia is one of the few countries where individuals are paying more
taxes than corporations. Individual highest tax rate is 27 percent
compared to 25 percent for corporations. The government is trying to
be morally correct by increasing sin tax for cigarette by an
additional 3 cents per stick. Will this alter the behaviour of
smokers? More are expected to migrate to cheaper contraband or locally
produced cigarettes putting their health and that of other non-smokers
at even greater risk.

The lack of policy wisdom is obviously not helping to restore and
enhance public confidence in the economy. We cannot spend our way out
of our misery nor can we simply depend on frugality to improve our
financial position. What Malaysia need is a clear, competent and
competitive economic solution. This solution can only be found if the
ruling government is able to provide a solid policy leadership.

In his numerous policy speeches, the Prime Minister has repeatedly
said that the private sector should take the lead in the economy. This
is easier said than done. For the last two decades, Malaysian
companies have been pampered with easy government contracts.
Businesses went on relentless expansion overdrive due to easy access
to funds. Projects were awarded not on the basis of performance but
social status and political patronage. But did the government stop for
a moment to ponder what has been achieved with the hundreds of
billions spent so far?

As a result, we have lost a generation of competent companies and
individuals. Companies which are competent but lacked political
connections had left to strike out on their own overseas. Some of them
found it simply too cumbersome to do business locally when know-who
takes precedent over know-how.

Many of our skilled professionals were attracted to work overseas due
to higher salary and equal opportunities. Did the government pause for
a moment to examine what was the main cause of our brain drain? Why
the civil service is not able to attract the best talents when many of

When will it sink into our politicians’ subconscious that it time for
them to exercise their mandate to govern instead of continuing to
bicker?

Again, this is easier said than done when the two coalitions simply
won’t allow the other to function and play their rightful role. A
fellow analyst remarked that both will probably continue with their
act until Malaysia effectively becomes a failed nation.

MPs get okay to go abroad, sparking rumours of bid to pre-empt crossovers

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's top government leaders yesterday defended an overseas 
trip planned for Barisan Nasional MPs over the next two weeks, dismissing 
speculation that it was to prevent their defection to the opposition. 
'Why connect their trip to the Sept 16 issue? They are not the ones planning to 
jump and leave the BN,' said Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi yesterday. 
'We will not give them the opportunity to set up government on Sept 16,' Datuk 
Seri Abdullah said. 
The Deputy Premier, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, confirmed that he had approved the 
trip from Sept 7 to Sept 19 organised by the BN Backbenchers Club for its 75 
members. 
Sept 16 is the date on which opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim claimed that he 
would topple the BN government with help of at least 30 BN defectors. 
Despite their denials, the coincidental timing swiftly cemented the impression 
of a panicky BN, as rumours spread wildly yesterday that the first wave of 
crossovers was imminent. 
Even national news agency Bernama had to issue a denial that it had sent a text 
message that seven BN component parties were holding a news conference to 
announce that they were quitting the coalition. 
Observers say the trip appears to suggest a government losing confidence in 
itself, and this will increase the pressure on Mr Abdullah to resign and hand 
over leadership to restore public confidence. 
He won a reprieve after announcing that he would retire in mid-2010 but Datuk 
Seri Anwar's landslide victory in the Permatang Pauh by-election has triggered 
fresh calls for the Prime Minister's resignation. 
An Umno MP was dismayed to find out that Mr Abdullah and Mr Najib had endorsed 
the trip which he had initially believed was a frolic of the backbenchers' 
club. 
'My god. We should not create an unnecessary perception that we are afraid of 
Anwar, and look like we are panicking,' he told The Straits Times. 
Yesterday, the vocal Chinese-based Gerakan party threw in another shocker when 
its president Koh Tsu Koon said it will review its position in the BN if Umno 
failed to restore people's confidence. 
Gerakan, which has two MPs, had stayed loyal to BN, to the point of near 
rebellion from its grassroots. 
'We will give a reasonable timeframe, then we will see the situation,' Mr Koh 
said. 
The party was among those rumoured to be announcing a crossover yesterday. 
After speculation spread like wildfire, seven of the smaller BN component 
parties especially from Sabah and Sarawak were forced to deny a mass defection. 
The BN coalition has 14 component members. 
Observers suggest that the rumours could be part of a psychological war by the 
opposition to diminish confidence in PM Abdullah's government. 
The opposition has hinted that 40 MPs are ready to move, although so far, there 
has been no sign of any movement. 
As Sept 16 draws closer, rumours have become so rife that it has become 
impossible to separate fact from fiction. It is speculated that Kelantan prince 
Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah may be asked to lead the new government. 
Tengku Razaleigh, who is challenging Mr Abdullah for the Umno presidency on a 
platform of reform, has maintained that he will stand by Umno, and has urged 
the BN component parties to do the same. 
The BN Backbenchers Club chairman Tiong King Sing, an MP from Sarawak, who 
organised the overseas visit, denied that it had anything to with Mr Anwar. 
He said it was an 'agriculture study' to look at technologies to increase farm 
output. The destination had not been confirmed. 
'It is a suitable time for us to go on the trip,' he said, referring to the 
Parliament's six-week break for Ramadan. 
The speculation was that the MPs would be brought to Australia or New Zealand.

I received a call from a mother two weeks ago. She told me that her daughter
is a government school teacher and has recently been scheduled for a
training course.

During the training session, a lecturer denied the citizenship of non-Malays
and called them outsiders. He then pointed at a Chinese student and said:
"The country belongs to Malays, you do not deserve anything."

It is not necessary for me to repeat other insulting and belittling words.

All the Indian and Chinese students were angry and sad after listening to
the lecturer's remarks. However, they dared not retort on the spot.

By evening, the daughter could not stand any longer. She called her mother
and complained tearfully.

DAP Ipoh Timor MP Lim Kit Siang disclosed a letter from a parent yesterday.

In the letter, the writer said her daughter has been successful in getting a
scholarship from the Public Service Department. It is compulsory for her
daughter to attend a course.

The course lecturer was from Biro Tata Negara and I believe you are clear of
the institution' s reputation and record.

The lecturer told his students that non-Malays should not question Malay
privileges. Instead, they must be grateful that Malays give them citizenship
and a place to stay.

He even instructed Malay students not to make friends with non-Malays.

I think you can imagine how non-Malay students felt at that moment. Even
some Malay students have been frightened and cried.

I wonder whether the two incidents involved the same lecturer. And whether
there are only two similar incidents? I believe there are more.

Such extreme racist remarks have repeatedly been heard in various
governmental courses and schools at all levels.

How many young souls have been hurt and how many enlightening brains have
been poisoned?

Umno apologised for its Division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail's remarks. But
there are hundreds of others similar to Ahmad Ismail around us who sow the
seeds of hatred among races.

Racial politics and monolingualism have created numerous people like Ahmad,
the lecturer mentioned above, as well as their followers.

Please stop it before the country is destroyed. What we need are
understanding and tolerance, not hatred and confrontation.

(I hope that the mother mentioned above could send me an e-mail to give the
details of the incident and names of those involved. So that I can pass the
information to related agencies for investigation. We must take actions to
make changes.)

The Biro Tatanegara (BTN) should be disbanded as it is a Trojan Horse in the
Prime Minister's Department which undermines and subverts the Prime

In his 51st National Day message last Saturday, Abdullah said united

It's all over the place. On bill boards, banners, on the air waves on TV and
radio, in newspapers. Everywhere.

"PERPADUAN TERAS KEJAYAAN'' That's Malay for "Unity is the core for
success". You can't be more right than that. And that's the theme chosen by
the government for this year's Merdeka celebrations. Rightly so.

Perpaduan teras kejayaan. Yes but we see racial cards being played at a
frightening pitch. Almost everything - from what we wear on our heads, to
proposals and ideas on places of worship, places of higher leaning and
places for the dead are exploited and played up along racial lines.

Perpaduan teras kejayaan. Yes but we see sentiments being fanned. We are
told our race is under threat. Our supremacy being challenged. And we might
be wiped out even by the "other" race.

Perpaduan teras kejayaan. Yes but we hear of people accusing other people of
selling out their own race.

Perpaduan teras kejayaan. Yes but we see the tenets of Rukun Negara
tarnished.

Perpaduan teras kejayaan. Yes but we the ugliness that cut short the now
well known forum organized by the Bar Council.

Perpaduan teras kejayaan. Yes but we hear of threatening words asking fellow
Malaysians to leave Malaysia, the very country they were born in.

Perpaduan teras kejayaan. Yes but the derogatory words and disparaging
remarks against may of us, still ring in our ears.

All that are the "sins' committed by politicians including ministers. We
know why they doing it. They know we know. But that's not stopping them. Not
even election results which showed multi racial lines do work.

Perpaduan teras kejayaan? Then we see, in Beijing, a Malaysian called Lee
Chong Wei embracing another Malaysian called Misbun Sidek. That tells it
all. It goes beyond sports. That's what Malaysia is all about. It's not a
lost cause, there's hope.

And I know as much as you do that many Malaysians, politicians and ministers
included who believe in that. Perpaduan teras kejayaan. Yes.

Tell-tale signs of cracks between then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and 
Anwar Ibrahim, could be seen in the 90s, where in less than a decade, his 
protege’s influence grew tremendously and became deputy prime minister as well 
as deputy president of Umno.

His meteoric rise indeed put pressure on the leadership of Mahathir, with 
supporters hailing Anwar as his apparent successor, of which it was intolerable.

>From then on, Mahathir sought to undermine Anwar's power and influence, 
>culminating in his successful effort in dismantling the Anwar-backed Wawasan 
>team of Umno vice-presidents comprising Najib Razak, Muhyiddin Yassin and Muhd 
>Muhammad Taib. (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi belonged to neither of the camps, and 
>was ousted as vice-president by the Wawasan team in the 1993 party elections).

However in 1996, Abdullah returned to the Umno echelon as a vice-president with 
the blessings of Mahathir, while Muhyiddin lost his position at the party 
polls. Anwar's position was very much shaken, culminating in his dismissal in 
1998 and the appointment of Abdullah as Mahathir's deputy.

Though there exists a crack in the nation's leadership in the 90s, Anwar took 
the opportunity to expand his horizon through his many overseas visits as a 
national leader, resulting in the further development of his ideals - instead 
of pushing forward reforms based on Islamic values, it would be based on 
universal values. 

Such a change in ideals can be gleaned from Anwar's seminal work on ‘The Asian 
Renaissance’ in 1997. In witnessing the rise of Asia in its economic growth, 
Anwar believed that the new world order should be based on the foundation of 
multiculturalism, and not ethnic affirmative action at the expense of 
infringing and neglecting the rights of others, reminding that Malaysia is in 
essence a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural entity.

If the 1980s characterised Anwar's passion in Islamic reforms, the 1990s could 
be characterised as Anwar's attempt at merging Islamic and Oriental thought, 
bridging the age-old animosity between the East and the West.

In this period, Anwar showed forth his vision for the nation from an 
international perspective rather than from a religious perspective.  

It should be noted that after Tunku Abdul Rahman and Mahathir, Anwar was the 
next Malaysian leader in articulating his thought through the publication of 
his seminal work. However, it was Mahathir who held the most number of 
published works, while Anwar was known more not by his ideas, but his 
tumultuous political career. 

In Anwar's seminal work, he made special mention of Mahathir and his patience 
in giving him the freedom and space to explore and develop his ideas. 

Fall from power 

Anwar's reforms came to an abrupt halt when in 1998, Mahathir took the step to 
strip him of all leadership position, reducing him to nothing.

At this time, Anwar realised that reforms would not be successful from within, 
and that he needed to take more drastic measures to effect permanent change. 
Thus the launching of the reformasi movement, accompanied by Anwar's Permatang 
Pauh and Kuala Lumpur declarations.

However, Anwar had to face the wrath of the law, being detained without bail, 
and the subsequent charges leveled against him caught the attention of the 
international community. His political struggle on the streets was subsequently 
turned into a battle in the courts. 

Yet the movement continued on and caught traction in the 1999 general election, 
with PAS the biggest winner. But the opposition faced one of their biggest 
defeats in the 2004 general election, with the Islamic party’s representation 
greatly slashed, while PKR was almost uprooted from national politics.

This was due in no small part that Anwar's ideals were still unacceptable to 
the masses, with the opposition still unable to see the advantage of such 
ideals. 

It was only after Anwar's release in 2004 that he had the opportunity to 
persuade PAS to turn aside their religious struggle, and instead fight for the 
welfare of all Malaysians. It was an arduous endeavour, taking three long years 
to convince PAS' rank to see the nation's political struggle through the lens 
of an Asian perspective.

With this, PAS was able to make inroad into the 2008 general election, to the 
point that it was able to assume the administration of Perak and formed a 
coalition government in Selangor. Such a drastic turnabout demonstrated the 
leadership and charisma of Anwar in influencing a staunch political party such 
as PAS.

The 2008 general election was the greatest opportunity for Anwar to pave the 
way for him to re-enter national politics, and in the process, his vision and 
ideals of reforms were this time widely accepted, benefitting not only DAP, but 
also elevated PKR to become the leader in the national opposition bloc.

what amounts to being nothing short of an embarrassing and humiliating defeat.'



On Official: Anwar gets BIGGER majority 

G Krishnan: Well, the sheer display of arrogance by the likes of Khairy and his 
BN ilk has once again been rewarded with what amounts to being nothing short of 
an embarrassing and humiliating defeat for the BN in Permatang Pauh.

All that venom, all that despicable personal attacks on Anwar, all that 
fear-mongering, all the race-baiting, all those big guns of the party, and all 
that money poured into the by-election, and what does the BN have to show for 
it?

I believe most reasonable people would conclude that the voters had sent a 
clear message to Abdullah and his son-in-law, and Najib and his groupies as 
well, several months back.

But that message did not seem to resonate at the Putra World Trade Centre.

I must admit that even as I type these words, I've got a grin on my face that 
stretches from one ear to the other. Oh, how sweet it is to see the likes of 
Khairy and Najib with egg on their faces.

All I will say for now is: ‘Hey, Khairy! Look who got ‘buried'!

Rebecca Gaythri: After 51 years of independence, Umno's policies are still not 
up to today's standards. It's just a race-based party that only cares for one 
race.

God is watching everything you do. He will put a stop to it one day.

Your days are numbered - the cries of the people will be heard. God created 
everything equal, but you stole it all for yourself.

In what condition would you like the Indians and Chinese to vote for BN? Under 
threat? Anwar has won and will bring good policies to suit Malaysians.

Peter Ooi: Yesterday's by-election in Permatang Pauh (PP) will also be hailed 
as a Good-Bye Election! We hope Permatang Pauh will shout for the rest of 
Malaysia good-bye to

- racial policies and racist politics

- to the Malaysian hybrid of apartheid

- to unbridled greed and wanton corruption

- to a heavily sullied judiciary and police force

- to a one party system domination where scoundrels lurk and find refuge

And say hello to a New Malaysia! Didn't I say this is a good bye-election ?

Kenny Gan: Anwar has won Permatang Pauh with a thumping majority of more than 
15,000 despite the overwhelming odds stacked against him by the BN machinery 
and polling held on a working day.

This is a convincing victory which declares that all the races, Malays 
included, endorse PR's multi-racial politics to BN's divisive racial politics.

If the BN government has any sense, it should heed the voice of the people and 
set about correcting its ways. But I fear that this message from the people 
will once again be ignored and Umno will continue to play on racial and 
religious sentiments.

The speaker of Parliament has already stated there is no urgency to swear in 
Anwar as an MP which is a dishonourable act to frustrate the will of the people.

As the BN government cannot or will not change, there is no choice but to 
continue the march to Putrajaya.

The huge support given to Anwar during nomination day and throughout the 
campaigning period shows clearly that the popularity enjoyed by Anwar.

The clarion call has sounded. The people have spoken. It is now up to all 
conscientious MPs from BN to jump ship and realise the Malaysian dream of a 
fair and accountable government.

One Malaysia: This marks the dawn of a new Malaysia being liberated from the 
clutches of BN which in reality is worse than the British colonialists.

BN , in particular Umno, is now in damage control mode. However, the damages 
are already done and exposed. The rakyat has proven to the hopeless Umno that 
BN is no longer relevant.

BN's bankrupt mentality has worsened making Umno, MCA and MIC into more 
incorrigible entities.

No amount of lies will save BN now. The demise of Umno, MIC, MCA are clearly 
visible.

Raptor 22: The rakyat has shown that the a bigger majority does matter because 
they are fed-up with BN and its political drama.

Let's talk about more sensible matters and not nonsense. BN will never ever 
learn.

I believe if only Pak Lah gave ceramah in Permatang Pauh for the past 10 days, 
BN would not have lost by such a huge majority.

But with the presence of MCA, MIC and worse Najib and Khairy, they buried 
themselves. So now, what Khairy is going to say?

Congratulations for the big win and welcome back to the parliament, DSAI. We 
were waiting for this moment long enough.

Menurut sumber-sumber yang mengetahui, Anwar mendapat 26,646 manakala calon 
Barisan Nasional (BN), Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah mendapat 10,436 undi.

Pengiraan masih dijalankan.

7.59 mlm: Pengiraan tidak rasmi menunjukkan Anwar setakat ini mendapat 16,101 
undi mendahului Arif Shah yang mendapat 6,071 undi. Pengiraan masih dijalankan.

6.55 ptg: Proses pengiraan undi sedang berjalan di 25 pusat pengundian. Menurut 
sumber-sumber dalaman, Anwar mendahului di semua saluran. 

6.30 ptg: Ribuan penyokong, sebahagian besarnya dari PKR, berhimpun di semua 
pusat pengundian. Polis turut mengadakan sekatan jalanraya menuju ke pusat 
pengiraan. 

Kira-kira 30 anggota polis dan trak FRU juga dilihat di tempat-tempat berkenaan.

6.05 ptg: Menurut Setiausaha SPR, Datuk Kamaruzaman, seramai 38,144 atau 65.25 
peratus keluar mengundi.

5.53 ptg: Polis telah menutup jalan utama menuju ke pusat penjumlahan undi di 
Institut Perguruan Tuanku Bainun, tempat keputusan pilihanraya kecil Permatang 
Pauh akan diumumkan.  
5.00 ptg: Proses pengundian tamat dan ini akan diikuti dengan proses pengiraan 
undi.

4.25 ptg: Menurut Setiausaha SPR, Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor berkata sehingga jam 3 
petang tadi, hanya 53.5 peratus keluar mengundi. Beliau juga menafikan khabar 
angin yang tempoh pengundian dilanjutkan hingga jam 6 petang. 
 
1.33 tghari: Ketua Polis Pulau Pinang, Datuk Ayub Yaakob ketika dihubungi 
Malaysiakini berkata, keadaan keseluruhan terkawal. Beliau mengesahkan seorang 
penyokong Pakatan ditahan pagi tadi kerana melempar objek dan menghalang tugas 
polis.

Menurutnya, kesesakan juga berlaku kerana faktor manusia yang tidak patuhi 
undang-undng dan ikut emosi sendiri. 

1.30 tghari: Masih terdapat 200 penyokong Pakatan di SK Sri Penanti. Kelihatan 
10 trak FRU serta trak meriam air ditempatkan di situ.

1.00 tghari: Menurut Setiausaha SPR, Datuk Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor, setakat jam 
12 tengahari, 44.8 peratus pengundi telah membuang undi.
Manakala Timbalan Pengerusi SPR, Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar pula menganggarkan 
sehingga jam 1 tengahari, peratusnya dijangka meningkat kepada 53 peratus. 
12.10 tghari: Seperti yang diramalkan oleh Jabatan Kaji Cuaca, hujan mulai 
turun di sekitar Permatang Pauh dan diramalkan juga akan berpanjangan hingga ke 
malam. 
11.20 pagi: Bilik gerakan SPR di Permatang Pauh ketika dihubungi berkata, hanya 
Setiausaha SPR, Datuk Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor yang boleh memberitahu peratus 
pengundian. Kamaruzaman kini sedang meninjau perjalanan proses pengundian. 
11.05 pagi: Ejen pengundian PKR, Rodziah Ismail, sahkan nama pengundi dalam 
kedua-dua versi daftar pengundi di SK Seberang Jaya 2, adalah sama, hanya muka 
surat yang berbeza. 
11.00 pagi: Ramai penyokong BN dan Pakatan di SK Sri Penanti sudah beredar. 
Hanya tinggal kira-kira 100 penyokong BN dan kira-kira 200 penyokong Pakatan 
yang masih kelihatan di situ. Anggota polis masih mengawal keadaan di situ.
10.52 pagi Calon Akim, Hanafi Mamat memberitahu Malaysiakini, beliau dalam 
perjalanan untuk melawat pusat pengundian di Kubang Semang.
Beliau menaruh harapan dan menegaskan, jika kalahpun "mesej kita sudah sampai 
kepada pengundi dan mereka boleh menilai". 
10.42 pagi: Ketua Penerangan PKR, Tian Chua sedang berunding dengan pihak polis 
untuk memberi lebih masa kepada penyokong parti politik beredar.
10.42 pagi: Ketua Polis Pulau Pinang Datuk Ayub Yaakob tiba di tempat kejadian. 
Selepas berbincang dengan para pegawainya, polis mengarahkan penyokong kedua 
belah pihak supaya beredar. 
Terdapat kira-kira 1,000 penyokong parti politik di situ, yang terdiri daripada 
kira-kira 400 penyokong BN dan 600 penyokong Pakatan.
10.30 pagi: seorang penyokong Pakatan ditahan di SK Sri Penanti kerana didakwa 
melontar objek ke arah penyokong BN. 
10.10 pagi: Anwar berkata beliau berharap dapat angkat sumpah di Parlimen esok 
dan "kita akan masuk Parlimen dengan agenda yang jelas dan mereka (BN) patut 
bangun dengan menerima realitinya". 
Dalam ucapan ringkasnya selepas membuang undi, Anwar berkata, beliau menerima 
sokongan kuat penduduk Permatang Pauh.
10.05 pagi: Timbalan Pengarah Pilihanraya PKR, Fauziah Salleh berkata pihaknya 
sedang menyemak perbezaan muka surat dalam daftar pengundi yang diberi pada PKR 
dan yang digunakan di saluran dua, SK Seberang Jaya 2. 
Katanya, muka surat 8 hingga 21 dalam daftar yang diberikan kepada PKR adalah 
untuk pengundi saluran dua, tetapi mengikut daftar pemilih yang digunakan oleh 
SPR pagi ini, bagi pengundi saluran dua adalah muka surat 1 hingga 14.

PERMATANG PAUH (SK) -KETUA Angkatan Muda KeADILan (AMK) Shamsul Iskandar Mohd 
Akin meminta agar menantu kepada Presiden Umno, Khairy Jamaludin,  memberitahu 
bagaimana Umno dan Barisan Nasional (BN) memperoleh wang yang begitu banyak 
untuk membiayai kempen pilihan raya Kecil Permatang Pauh.
Dalam kenyataan yang di keluarkan bagi mengulas tindakan Khairy yang juga Naib 
Ketua Pemuda Umno yang menuduh dengan melulu bajawa KeADILan menerima dana dari 
Amerika Syarikat sepertimana dilaporkan kepada media, Shamsul meminta Khairy 
supaya menarik balik kenyataan tersebut.
“AMK berminat untuk menanyakan Khairy bagaimana Umno-BN boleh memperoleh wang 
sebegitu banyak untuk membiayai kempen mereka,” katanya.
Jelas Shamsul Iskandar, KeADILan dan Pakatan Rakyat diterima baik oleh 
masyarakat, oleh yang demikian, pemberian sumbangan dan bantuan adalah begitu 
normal dari rakyat.
“Sokongan rakyat yang menghulurkan sumbangan dan bantuan kepada KeADILan dan 
Pakatan Rakyat adalah sesuatu yang normal,kerana perjuangan KeADILan dan 
Pakatan Rakyat sendiri berdiri di atas naluri rakyat yang mahukan perubahan,” 
jelasnya.
Dengan tuduhan oleh Khairy yang tidak terlihat dimana bukti dan faktanya, 
Pakatan Rakyat tidak pernah dimalukan untuk dihadapkan ke mahkamah kerana gagal 
melunaskan hutang sewaktu berkempen.
“Setidak-tidaknya KeADILan dan Pakatan Rakyat tidak seperti Umno-BN yang 
dihadapkan ke mahkamah kerana gagal melunaskan hutang sebanyak RM218 juta 
kepada Elegant Advisory Sdn Bhd berhubung penyediaan bahan kempen pilihanraya 
umum Mac 2004,” jelasnya.
Seharusnya, menurut Shamsul, Khiry perlu menumpukan penghujahan yang berkaitan 
dasar dan polisi demi kebaikan negara, namun tindakan beliau yang bersikap 
seperti anjing menyalak bukit adalah berniat jahat.
“Tindakan biadap Khairy ini jelas sekali berniat jahat, bertujuan untuk 
melengkapkan kempen pembunuhan karakter Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim di dalam 
Pilihanraya Kecil P44 Permatang Pauh ini.
Sewajarnya bagi Khairy dan Umno lebih menumpukan penghujahan yang berkaitan 
dasar dan polisi demi kebaikan rakyat, bukan bersikap seperti anjing menyalak 
bukit, menyerang peribadi calon Pakatan Rakyat sepanjang kempen,” jelasnya lagi.
Tambahnya,”Khairy juga perlu belajar untuk tidak bersikap seperti ‘kera kena

In "Fascism Anyone?," Laurence Britt identifies 14 characteristics 
common to fascist regimes. His comparisons of Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, 
Suharto, and Pinochet yielded this list of 14 "identifying 
characteristics of fascism." 

1.) Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, 
symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as 
are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2.) Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in 
fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in 
certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way 
or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long 
incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3.) Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to 
eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious 
minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4.) Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given 
a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda 
is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5.) Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively 
male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made 
more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and 
anti-gay legislation and national policy.

6.) Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in 
other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government 
regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. 
Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7.) Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses

8.) Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in 
the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric 
and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major 
tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's 
policies or actions.

9.) Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are 
the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually 
beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10.) Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a 
fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are 
severely suppressed.

11.) Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher

is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

12.) Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to 
enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and 
even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a 
national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist 
nations.

13.) Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and 
associates who appoint each other to government positions and use 
governmental power and authority to protect their friends from 
accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national 
resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen 
by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times 
elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even 
assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control 
voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the 
media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to 
manipulate or control elections.

Ten years ago, former PM Dr M tried to "bury" Anwar Ibrahim
politically by sacking him from UMNO. But Anwar refused to "go away".

Dr M then tried to break and "bury" Anwar's spirit by having him
arrested in front of his family – after which the then IGP would beat
him to near death. But Anwar did not succumb.

Abusing every institution and legislation and using the servile
courts, Dr M sought to bury Anwar's integrity with a sodomy charge.
But Anwar withstood the onslaught.

Through the mainstream media Dr M carried out a character
assassination most vile, vicious and venomous on Anwar. Though
wounded, Anwar refused to be vanquished.

Behind prison bars for six years and bruised, Anwar would not buckle.
As the years flew by, they had to literally bury a few personages who
were involved in putting Anwar away. 

Even when his party had only one MP; even when the PM asked
sarcastically "Who is Anwar?"; even when Umno declared he was
"irrelevant" – Anwar did not flinch nor falter. 

He in fact prepared the ground for a "mass burial" which took place
soon after the political tsunami in March. The political careers of a
few cabinet ministers were buried.

Now Umno is very worried that its very existence would be buried soon.
They create another silly sodomy story. But Anwar keeps on bouncing back.

In comes a greenhorn who blows his own trumpet and declares that they
will bury Anwar's political career. Dr M and the Umno hegemony tried
so hard but Anwar survived and became stronger. Who is Khairy Jamaluddin?

On Anwar slammed over 'back door' bid for Putrajaya

Ahmad Kamal: Dr Chandra's concerns are valid. As a matter of principle, 
resignations and crossing-overs are not democratic. If we would now thwart the 
ideals to democracy, who knows where this might lead to.

As much as I cringe at these political strategies by Anwar and PKR with support 
of the opposition partners, I must say that there is no time like the present. 
Abdullah Badawi and his team are not the leaders Malaysia wants.

If they are there today, comfortable in their parliamentary seats, we can 
safely surmise that the rigged elections would have something to do with it.

And since 1998, ordinary citizens and scholars have exposed the partisan 
Election Commission, a rotting judiciary, an undisciplined police force, rising 
prices and inflation.

Another four years is a very long time. I believe Malaysians are ready to 
support Anwar. His ambition to be prime minister by September is I believe a 
desire of most Malaysians as well.

Times like these call upon us to rethink our priorities. Of course, if the 
inevitable happens and Anwar becomes the PM for all Malaysians, we must see to 
it, that we check ourselves and those who are entrusted to look after the 
nation's affairs.

Check them from straying from our democratic ideals or even restore them at the 
shortest time possible. These are revolutionary times, Chandra!

May God Bless Anwar: I have an emotion I find difficult to explain. I dislike 
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib to the deepest core - that's easy to explain.

But I find I have a much deeper dislike for Ezam and Chandra Muzaffar. 

Lim Leong: I beg to differ with Chandra Muzaffar on his assertion that Anwar is 
being unethical and undemocratic in trying to seize power through the back 
door. Let's deal with the question of ethics and democracy in the context of 
March general election with the following facts:

1. Hardly any little air time had been given to the opposition parties in all 
mainstream media. In the mainstream media, almost every single piece of news 
had cast BN in good light and the opposition in bad light.

2. Indelible ink was to be used but its use was cancelled at the very last 
minute with no sound reasoning. It was subsequently revealed that cabinet had a 
hand in the decision to cancel the use of the indelible ink.

3. Pak Lah had already said the Anwar is ‘irrelevant' and yet in the last days 
of campaigning, suddenly there were a whole host of so0called intellectuals who 
came out and said ‘it will be unmitigated disaster if Anwar became the PM' and 
singing the praises of BN. These were splashed out in all mainstream media.

4. There were so many election bribes being promised if BN were re-elected and 
veiled threats that federal funding will be cut if vote did not go to the BN 
side.

5. Anwar was eligible to contest in April and yet the GE date was deliberately 
set to be in March.

My fellow Malaysians, do you think the BN government was being ethical and 
democratic with the last election campaign?

In fact, there is ample evidence that the government deliberately misled the 
people through absolute control of the mainstream media.

While I do not condone fighting fire with fire, sometimes it might be the only 
way forward when there is no level playing field to start with.

The Silent Saint: Now Chandra Muzaffar talks about moral credibility. Where has 
he been all this while? Where is the moral credibility in charging Anwar 
Ibrahim but not Saiful (under section 377B)?

Where is the moral credibility in not taking action against Dr Mahathir 
Mohamad, VK Lingam, Eusoff Chin and the others?

Where is the moral credibility in not taking action against a minister 
responsible for the shoddy construction of flyovers and hoarding millions of 
ringgit of taxpayers' money?

Chandra Muzzafar, you are a total disgrace to the academic community. You make 
statements that are most sweeping and baseless.

First, you attempted a character assassination of DSAI and when that failed now 
you are attempting discredit his action by bringing in the issue of moral 
credibility.

Even the most uneducated Malaysian can see the country is heading towards 
definite doom under the current most inefficient rule.

DSAI may not be the best leader in the world but he is the only hope for many 
of us who cannot tolerate, the corrupt, inefficient and vision-less governance 
of the current leadership.

The only way out for Malaysia's salvation is by forcing the current government 
out.

Semasa mula mula mengwar warkan bahawa PR akan ambil alih Putrjaya dipandang 
sinis oleh banyak pihak. Ramai berpendapat bahawa ianya cuma cakap cakap kosong 
untuk meraih populariti.
 
Pihak BN yang pada mulanya menepis andaian tersebut ternyata menambil sikap 
serius terhadap ancaman itu dan perbagai strategi awal diambil dan berkesudahan 
dengan pendedahan satu persatu strategi memakan tuan yang terdedah dan 
terlondeh!
Bermula dengan isu sodomi siri II yang menyaksikan bagaimana AMENO berjaya 
menyusup masuk ke kubu kuat PKR sehingga membuat rakyat terpinga pinga dan 
seterusnya rakyat didedahkan dengan kisa Muzakarah PAS AMENO yang menyaksikan 
bagaimana liciknya agen agen AMENO bermain peranan!
Rakyat perlu bersyukur kerana agen bermuka dua Ameno sudah dari awal tewas 
dimana Ezam telah dari awal keluar setelah kekalahan PKR di PRU ke 11.Jadi 
keterlibatan beliau sebagai agen AMENO terpadam(Walaubagaimana pun masih ada 
sakibaki pengikut beliau yang memberi input segala rancangan PKR kepada musuh)
Dari andaian penulis bahawa strategi DSAI tepat adalah Kerajaan BN punya banyak 
waktu untuk menangkis serangan demi serangan dan kelihatan mereka penat dan 
gerah untuk menangkis serangan bertubi tubi PR. Segala tipu muslihat gagal dan 
sekarang serangan terakhir bermula! Permatang Pauh akan menjadi saksi dimana 
besar kemungkinan undian kepada BN mungkin kurang dari 10,000 sahaja! Dengan 
undian yang merosot ini akan memberi tamparan hebat kepada BN dan sudah tentu 
disegala sudut mereka merasa bahang perubahan sudah nyata dan mereka harus 
memikirkan langkah selanjutnya!
Mereka mungkin akan membuat huru hara dan dengan itu akan cuba mengarahkan 
pihak Tentera dan Polis mengambil alih kuasa dan negara ditadbir oleh MAGERAN 
II.
Persoalannya bolehkan BN yang secara nyata gagal membendung kemaraan rakyat 
berbuat demikian? Apa kata dunia? Secara terang terangan rakyat sedar dan tahu 
bahawa kesemua drama huru hara adalah angkara Kerajaan semata mata dan rakyat 
tidak akan mengikut serta!
Andaian Kerajaan mengarahkan Tentera mengambil alih kuasa akan perbalik kepada 
mereka kembali kerana secara terang usaha meraka akan jadi sia sia belaka!
Jadi mengapa Penulis mengatakan tindakan DSAI itu bijak adalah menyedarkan 
kepada BN bahawa PR sudah bersiap sedia mengambil alih Putrajaya dan kamu serta 
kuncu kuncu kamu bersiaplah untuh undurkan diri dan kepada para Konspirator 
bersiaplah kamu untuk mendapatkan suaka dimana mana negara yang sudi melindungi 
kamu! Bukankah kamu diberi masa secukupnya untuk membuat persiapan?
Jadi andaian Anwar mengambil alih kerajaan sudah jelas dan beliau memberi masa 
secukupnya untuk kesemua para konspirator dan perasuah nyah dari bumi Malaysia! 
Akhir kata perubahan pucuk pimpinan akan berjalan dengan baik dan Malaysia akan

Tak seperti diawal siasatan dan tuduhan dahulu, Syed Hamid yang selalu bercakap 
besar dan bercakap kurang ajar berkaitan kes liwat, nampaknya akhir akhir ini 
wajahnya tak seceria dahulu, agaknya mengapa? pening kepala.. tertekan kerana 
tidak mempunyai bukti atau menerima tekanan dan amaran keras dari negara Asing? 
dulu bukan main egonya bercakap Anwar pelapor kepada negara asing, tapi sejak 
akhir akhir ini setelah diberi amaran oleh setiausaha Amerika Condaliza rice 
Syed hamid kini bertukar wajah dan cara bercakap walaupun masih dan tetap 
kurang ajar. apakah kini dia sudah sedar tidak ada kes yang kuat untuk membawa 
Anwar ke Mahkamah?
 

Andai dia terus kan hasrat bosnya itu, kita mungkin menghadapi sekali lagi 
krisis ekonomi yang teruk akibat dari tekanan negara luar, sebelum ini negara 
seperti Jepun yang tidak pernah mencampuri urusan dalaman Malaysia kini tegas 
membantah penahanan Anwar, wajah Syed Hamid seakan lebih tertekan apabila Wan 
Azizah mengumumkan secara mengejut perletakan Jawatan sebagai Mp Permatang pauh 
untuk memberi laluan kepada Anwar. 
apakah siasatan yang dihantar ke pejabat peguam negara benar benar kukuh dan 
sempurna? atau ada tekanan dari team lain menganggu Konspirasi mereka? sebelum 
ini khabar angin bertiup kencang Zaid Ibrahim akan meletak jawatan malah ada 
yang mengatakan Zaid Ibrahim sudahpun menyerahkan surat perletakan jawatan pada 
7 julai, mengapa tiba tiba Zaid Ibrahim membuat kenyataan yang dia tak akan 
meletakkan jawatan? malah lebih pedas lagi zaid mengatakan dia diminta meletak 
jawatan dari dalam kerajaan dan dari pembangkang. umum sedia maklum Zaid

sendiri. malah ada cawangan MCA secara terbuka minta pendakwaan dihentikan, 
saya kira seluruh parti komponen kini mendesak agar pendakwaan ini dihentikan. 
yang bercakap soal liwat ini hanya pemimpin Umno, syed hamid  kini hanya ada 
pilihan " Do or Die". kalau dia tak dakwa dia dan teamnya  Musa Hassan dan Gani 
patail bakal menerima akibatnya. kalau diteruskan tekanan dari dalam parti dan 
luar negara memuncak. andai dia terus dia kalah, dia hentikanpun mereka akan

Malaysia bakal menerima tekanan yang kuat andai Anwar didakwa!! ingat PM

PBB, apakah ini tekanan yang bakal diterima PM kita? sekurang kurangnya

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 Ogos (Hrkh) - Veteran Umno, Datuk Mazlan Harun akan membuat 
laporan kepada Biro Pencegah Rasuah (BPR) esok ke atas Perdana Menteri, Datuk 
Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi berikutan tuduhan Ketua Umno Bahagian Petaling Jaya 
Selatan, Kaptan (Bersara) Datuk Zahar Hashim bahawa Perdana Menteri terlibat 
dengan rasuah politik "of the highest order". 

Dalam surat bertarikh 11hb Julai 2008, Zahar mendedahkan salahguna kuasa dan 
rasuah yang berlaku dalam proses pemilihan Umno oleh Abdullah, yang juga 
Presiden Umno. 
Laporan itu akan dibuat pada pukul 9.30 pagi dan ahli-ahli Umno serta rakyat 
Malaysia yang mahu bersama-sama membuat laporan polis itu diminta berkumpul di 
Dataran Merdeka pada pukul 9 pagi esok. 
Menurut blogger Umno, A Voice (anotherbrickinwall.blogspot.com), beberapa orang 
veteran Umno yang juga ahli-ahli Majlis Bekas Wakil-wakil Rakyat Malaysia 
(Mubarak) akan turut serta memberi sokongan moral kepada Mazlan. 
Dalam suratnya, Zahar berkata, penawaran jawatan Presiden Umno dan Perdana 
Menteri oleh Abdullah kepada timbalannya, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak dan 
persetujuan Najib menerimanya dalam keadaan sekarang dan pada ketika ini 
merupakan rasuah politik "of the highest order," walau apa pun alasan yang 
diberi. 
"Sudah pasti ia akan memberi kesan yang menguntungkan Abdullah, khususnya, dan 
sedikit sebanyak kepada Najib juga," katanya. 
Terdahulu dari itu, kata Zahar, Abdullah telah terlibat dalam beberapa majlis 
ramah mesra dan penerangan dalam tempoh pemilihan seperti yang ditafsirkan 
dalam Tataetika Versi 2008. 
"Ketua-ketua cawangan dari beberapa negeri diundang khas, disediakan penginapan 
di hotel dan diberikan buah tangan berupa sejadah atau kain pelikat serta duit 
belanja melalui jentera dan sumber kewangan kerajaan. 
"Isu in telah menjadi buah mulut di kalangan ahli-ahli Umno," katanya. 
Zahar memetik Tataetika Versi 2008 yang melarang calon yang ingin bertanding 
sebagai Ketua Bahagian atau Ahli Majlis Tertinggi menganjur jamuan atau memberi 
sedikit wang belanja kepada para perwakilan dan akan dikenakan tindakan 
disiplin jika melakukannya._

salah satu kerusi yang akan dimenangi oleh PKR akan dibubarkan untuk 
membolehkan Anwar bertanding. Rakyat sememangnya maklum akan hal ini dan tidak 
timbul isu pengundi terpedaya apabila Wan Azizah melepaskan kerusinya kerana 
rakyat memang sudah maklum. 
Seterusnya, berhubung isu pembaziran, penulis menyokong penuh kenyataan Syed 
Hamid Albar bahawa wang rakyat akan dibazirkan. Meskipun begiyu, wang rakyat 
hanya akan dibazirkan sekiranya UMNO berdegil untuk bertanding walaupun yakin 
akan kalah. Ini barulah membazir. Untuk menjimatkan wang rakyat, sebaik-baiknya 
UMNO tak payahlah meletakkan calon. Ini dapat mengelakkan UMNO dari terus malu 
besar sekiranya hilang wang pertaruhan. 
Di samping itu, wang untuk pilihanraya bukanlah satu pembaziran kerana ia 
sebahagian proses demokrasi. Senarai pembaziran UMNO di atas barulah pembaziran 
dalam erti kata yang sebenar. Penulis ingin bertanya bukankah BN selama ini 
menggunakan wang rakyat termasuklah wang cukai yang dibayar oleh pembangkang 
untuk kempen pilihanraya raya UMNO. Ini bukan lagi satu pembaziran tetapi lebih 
mirip kepada rompakan wang rakyat.

"I am now facing one sedition charge and three criminal defamation charges. 
They say Muslims are allowed four and I have just reached my limit of four. 
Nevertheless, my great-grandfather, Sultan Ala’eddin Suleiman Shah, the Fifth 
Sultan of Selangor, had ten wives. He also had 44 children from these ten 
wives, my grandmother, Tengku Badariah, being one of those 44. Needless to say, 
with the track record set by my great-grandfather, would I be satisfied with 
stopping at just four? Certainly not! And, today, I am going to chalk up my 
fifth ‘criminal charge’, whatever that charge is going to be.

Today, in the spirit of my fifth criminal charge, I am going to make another 
‘seditious’ or ‘criminal defamation’ allegation against Deputy Prime Minister 
Najib Tun Razak, in the spirit of what Anwar Ibrahim said to CNN last week (see 
the CNN report here: http://72.47.236.85/2008/content/view/10077/1/ ). 

And this allegation is that Najib met Saiful to discuss the sodomy allegation 
against Anwar and for no other reason other than that -- and certainly not to 
discuss the young man’s future career or scholarship.

This time I am going for broke. This time I am prepared to go to jail for a 
long, long time just to make sure that Najib is not going to become Prime 
Minister of Malaysia in June 2010. Yes, I know I am headed for a fall, but I am 
going to bring Najib down with me. We shall both hit the dirt and become 
history, side-by-side. 

And how will that happen? Well, this time I video-recorded a ‘confession’ 
session. And the video recording is now in a safe place, ready to surface 
during my trial when they charge me for this newest ‘crime’, whatever that 
crime is going to be.

The gist is as follows. When Saiful went to meet Najib, he brought a friend 
along. And this friend has confessed to the entire thing in a video recording, 
which I now have in my possession. So bring it on. Give me all you’ve got. 
Charge me and let us see what happens in court.

Yes, Najib met Saiful to discuss how to fix Anwar on a sodomy allegation. No 
doubt, at first Najib denied all this. At first he said he never met Saiful, 
not even once in his life. Then he admitted meeting Saiful but said he met 
Saiful to offer the young man ‘career guidance’ and to discuss his future, 
scholarship, and all such matters. The first statement was a lie. The second 
was also a lie. Najib met Saiful to discuss the sodomy allegation against Anwar.

If Najib can lie so many times with regards to his meeting with Saiful, would 
he not also be capable of lying about never meeting or knowing Altantuya? What 
would Najib say if during my trial I adduce a military intelligence report 
dated when Altantuya was still alive which confirms that he was involved 
romantically (or ‘involved sexually’ would probably be the more appropriate 
word to use) with Altantuya?

Sure, charge me. Put me on trial. Even obtain a conviction and send me to jail 
if you wish. Hey, I am 58. By the time I go to jail I would probably be 60, if 
I happen to still be around and not already dead by then. So, you can send me 
to jail, but for how long? What difference does it make when I am no longer 
alive anyway? And I really don’t expect to live to a ripe old age of 83 like 
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Najib, however, will never become Prime Minister in 
June 2010. And that is worth going to jail for, however long the sentence may 
be.* 

“What questions are you going to ask me?”

“No questions. We will not treat this as an interview. You just relax and 
relate what happened, like a story-telling session, and then I will 
video-record everything you say.”

“What exactly do you need me to say?”

“I suppose you can just relate how you first met Saiful, how he came to be 
employed by Parti Keadilan Rakyat, what he did in the office, and

The FT’s Assif Shameen spoke to Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia’s opposition
leader, about the sodomy charges that he faces and his intent to
return to politics. The following is an edited transcript of the
interview.

Financial Times: There are reports that you will be arrested and
charged imminently. Clearly, you don’t think they have a case?

Anwar Ibrahim: First of all, with all the evidence that is now before
them, I don’t see any reason why the authorities should continue with
these investigations of alleged sodomy. There is this medical report,
which is authentic, very clear. A doctor who examined the accuser
clearly ruled out any alleged sodomy.

In any other system where there is justice and fairness, the powers
would have by now shut down the investigations and cleared my name.
But here in Malaysia, in our so-called police state, it is the intent
of the officials, particularly the Inspector General of Police, Musa
Hassan, which seems to matter most. This is the same man who was
involved in my case in 1998 when I was blind folded and brutally
assaulted. I have filed a complaint against him citing his
involvement. But instead of addressing pressing economic problems like
soaring inflation, the government is trying to divert public attention
with this filthy sodomy charade.

Financial Times: The government says it must proceed with the sodomy
complaint in accordance with law. If you are innocent, as you say, why
not just cooperate with investigators?

Anwar Ibrahim: I am cooperating and I have cooperated. Even though I
was never shown a copy of the complaint filed by the accuser or
officially told exactly what I am being accused of, I have cooperated
with the police and tried to answer all their questions. You have
probably heard the reports of how they came to arrest me, how I was
forced to strip at a government and how I was forced to stay in a cell
overnight. All this was staged to humiliate me. On my part, I have
provided them fool-proof evidence, alibi. There are no grounds
whatsoever for them to proceed any further.

On the other hand, there is compelling evidence of a deliberate and
persistent attempt to incriminate me. Why else would they not show me
a copy of my accuser’s complaint after six weeks? Why else do they
insist on my DNA or blood samples after they have seen a medical
report that clearly says that the accuser was never sodomised? Because
they want to fabricate evidence. This is what they did in 1998. Just
look at their track record. The players are same, the police chief,
the attorney general. Same people using same tricks.

Financial Times: Why do you think the authorities are doing this to
you?

Anwar Ibrahim: Because they are terrified. Because their corrupt
system is crumbling. You see, these are desperate people. They have
decided that they must finish the man who stands between them and
power. You must realise the ruling party [Barisan Nasional coalition]
lost badly in the March election. It was their worst showing ever.
They were humiliated. They won just half of the total votes and even
that was after they had disallowed the use of indelible ink which
would have stopped cheating.

I see this as a political ploy and a personal vendetta by the Police
chief and his political masters whose main aim is to disbar me from
active politics for life.

Financial Times: You said last weekend that you will soon trigger a
by-election to re-enter parliament and move a motion of no confidence
in the government before mid-September. Do you have enough defectors
from the ruling party to pull the rug?

Anwar Ibrahim: I will announce next week exactly when and where I will
contest. But yes, I am now ready to re-enter parliament. I was
disbarred from contesting during the March general elections but now I
am able to contest.I am confident that when we do move the motion, we
will have the numbers. You see, the reason why they are making all
these accusations against me is precisely because they know their days
are numbered. We have the numbers. We have the support. They want to
stop me before we throw them out.

Financial Times: Your opposition Pakatan coalition has been described
as a dysfunctional group riddled with in-fighting. Indeed, the
Islamist group PAS has talked with the ruling UMNO-led group about
power sharing. Can the Pakatan coalition hold while you are tied up
answering criminal charges in court?

Anwar Ibrahim: Yes, our coalition will hold and remain united. In any
coalition there are bound to be some disagreements. We are also a new
coalition and I admit there have been some teething problems. But I am
in touch with the leaders of PAS and our other partner, DAP, almost on
a daily basis. We are united in our goal to have a more open,
transparent, fair and just system. I am aware that some PAS people met
with UMNO leaders soon after the March elections. But PAS leaders have
assured me that they have no desire of

Asia Sentinel - A medical report surfaces saying the male aide who filed 
charges against the opposition leader wasn’t molested. The doctor who examined 
a 23-year-old male aide allegedly sodomized by Malaysian opposition leader 
Anwar Ibrahim found no evidence of tearing or scarring that would indicate 
penetration, according to a medical report leaked to local journalists.
If the document is genuine, it can be expected to raise further suspicions of 
complicity on the part of top government leaders in attempting to destroy Anwar 
politically. The charges against Anwar, filed by the youth on June 28, would 
have ended the opposition politician’s political career and put him back behind 
bars, where he had spent six years from 1999 on similar charges, which human 
rights organizations across the world condemned as trumped up. Sodomy is a 
crime punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment and caning.

Anwar was arrested two weeks after the youth filed the complaint and was jailed 
overnight on July 15 after police, some wearing balaclava masks, descended on 
his home, a move that raised political tensions in Kuala Lumpur and sent 
Anwar’s supporters into the streets around the police station where he was 
being held. He refused at that time to give a DNA specimen, charging that it 
could be misused. .
According the medical report, which allegedly was filed at Hospital Pusrawi Sdn 
Bhd on Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur, the aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 
was examined by Dr Mohamed Osman on June 28 at 2 pm. After he had gone to the 
hospital to complain about pain he said he was suffering in his anus, he 
allegedly told hospital personnel that he had been assaulted by a “very 
important person.”
After Dr Mohamad refused to write a report that Saiful had been sodomized, 
according to Malaysia Today, the doctor suggested that the youth obtain another 
diagnosis at a government hospital. Doctors at that hospital also refused to 
confirm a diagnosis of sodomy, according to the publication, although it did 
not name the doctors.
Nonetheless, Malaysia Today reported, Saiful filed the report of assault at a 
nearby police kiosk four hours later.
After Mohamad Osman made the report indicating no sexual assault had taken 
place, police picked up the doctor and detained him for three days to attempt 
to persuade him to change his diagnosis, according toMalaysia Today. The 
doctor, the publication said, has since gone into hiding with his family.
In a telephone interview with Asia Sentinel, Deputy Inspector General of Police 
Ismail Omar confirmed that Dr Mohamad had been questioned, but said he had 
never been detained.
Attempts to reach hospital officials were unsuccessful. They were said to be in 
a meeting. However, although the medical report could not be independently 
verified, a senior Pusrawi Hospital official told the Internet publication 
Malaysiakini this morning that the hospital had launched an internal 
investigation on how Saiful’s medical report was leaked, which is widely 
considered as a major infringement of patient privacy.
When Malaysiakini showed the official a copy of the report, he refused to 
return it but he didn’t describe it as fake, saying, “It’s our document.”
Anwar’s party issued a statement saying that “the medical report leaked today 
appears to confirm what we have always believed - that the allegations against 
Anwar Ibrahim are without merit and politically motivated.”
The existence of the report, the statement continued, “further erodes any 
confidence the public would have in the credibility of the police report that 
has been filed against Anwar Ibrahim, a report which remains shrouded in 
secrecy. Why has this medical report surfaced only today, over one month after 
the allegations were made, after (Anwar) spent a night in jail, and after the 
police have spent so much time and money on this case?”
Anwar and his three-party coalition, made up of his own Parti Keadilan Rakyat, 
the Democratic Action Party and Parti Islam se-Malaysia, are in a 
no-holds-barred contest to oust the ruling Barisan Nasional, or National 
Coalition, from 50 years of unbroken power. In March 8 elections, the 
opposition coalition broke the two-thirds hold of the barisan on the Dewan 
Rakyat, or parliament, for the first time since independence.
Anwar was in jail and the political wilderness for a decade after he broke with 
former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad in 1998. Although the 1999l sodomy 
charge against him was later reversed, the 61-year-old former deputy prime 
minister was barred from running for political office because the corruption 
charge remained. That ban, however, has been repealed and Anwar expects to 
stand in a by-election. If he is victorious, he has repeatedly forecast that in 
mid-September he will lure enough pro-barisan lawmakers this side to take over

Very troubling reports have been published, which reveal the existence of a
medical report of an examination done by a doctor on Mohd Saiful Bukhari bin
Azlan a few hours before Saiful lodged a police report that he had been
sodomised. The medical report apparently shows that there is no evidence
that he had been sodomised by anyone.

Such reports raise some very serious questions that require immediate
answers:

(1) Are the police in possession of such a medical report?

(2) Was the doctor concerned interviewed by the police and was he detained
for any length of time?

(3) Is the doctor concerned facing any form of intimidation and if so, by
whom?

(4) Is there a medical report by another doctor that either confirms or
contradicts the first medical report?

(5) If it is true that the medical report exists showing a lack of prima
facie evidence, what then could have been the justification for the vigorous
actions taken against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as well as the public call by
the authorities for his DNA sample?

The answers to these questions are of paramount importance, as they bring
into focus the integrity of our law enforcement system.

These latest disclosures regarding the investigations into the sodomy
allegations are not the only ones to raise questions that need answering.
There is, for example, also the issue of P. Balasubramaniam' s abrupt
"disappearance" that has yet to be satisfactorily explained. No one can deny
that the circumstances of his first and second statutory declarations are
highly unusual. All these show a pattern of events that cause much disquiet
to right-thinking members of the public.

The Malaysian people are deeply troubled. A country that truly believes in
the rule of law should not be faced with so many disturbing developments and
unanswered questions.

The credibility of the Malaysian justice system as a whole is therefore at
stake. The integrity of professionals, be they doctors or lawyers, must
never be interfered with. The public must be left in no doubt that the
criminal justice system in this country will not be misused or abused. There
must be nothing less than an open and thorough investigation into these
cases. This calls for the courage and professionalism of all those involved
to do the right thing no matter the consequences. And those who have shown
such courage and integrity must know that they live in a country where it is
safe to do so.

POLICE: Website's report an attempt to sabotage investigations,
confuse public

Police have dismissed reports on the Internet that a private hospital doctor
had not found any medical evidence of sodomy by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's
accuser as another attempt to sabotage police investigations.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said the reports were
also aimed at confusing the people.

Police, he said, were considering investigating the news website and a blog
over their reports, which referred to a medical report allegedly issued by
Pusrawi Hospital on Jalan Tun Razak.

The news report claimed that there was no evidence that Anwar's former aide
Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan had been sodomised.

However, Ismail declined to comment on the medical report itself, saying
investigations were ongoing.

Mohd Saiful had alleged that he had been sodomised by the de facto leader of
Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

Ismail also quashed rumours that Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid, the Pusrawi
Hospital medical officer who examined Mohd Saiful on June 28, had been
picked up by police.

"Mohamed Osman's statement had been recorded by police earlier on in the
investigation, as such, rumours circulating about his arrest by police are
untrue," Ismail said.

Attempts to get in touch with Pusrawi Hospital officials were futile as all
questions were met with a "No comment" answer.

According to the news website, Dr Mohamed Osman had examined Mohd Saiful
about four hours before lodging a police report alleging he had been
sexually assaulted by Anwar.

Mohd Saiful went to the hospital about 2pm on June 28 complaining of '
tenesmus', a medical term for difficulty and pain in passing motion.

Dr Mohamed Osman, a Burmese Muslim, is said to be on leave.

The Police cannot keep silent a single second on the latest shocking
revelation in the second Anwar Ibrahim sodomy charge - that the first
medical report on Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan found no evidence of sodomy four
hours before he lodged the police report of sodomy against Anwar on June 28.

The revelation, which first appeared in Raja Petra Kamaruddin's Malaysia
Today news portal, and is reported in Malaysiakini, is based on a two-page
medical report by Dr. Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid, the medical officer in
Hospital Pusrawi (Pusat Rawatan Islam) in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur
after examining Saiful at about 2 p.m on June 28 - some four hours before
Saiful lodged the police report against Anwar.

According to a copy of the two-page medical report obtained by malaysiakini
yesterday, Saiful went to the hospital complaining of 'tenesmus' - a medical
term for difficulty and pain in passing motion.

He was examined by Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid, the medical officer on
duty.

The doctor said that the patient had alleged he was assaulted by the
intrusion of a piece of "plastic" in the anus.

Mohamed Osman, according to his medical report which was recorded at 2.14pm,
found "zero active bleeding", "zero ulcer or pus", "zero tear and scar" in
Saiful's anus.

He also stated that Saiful appeared "alert", "comfortable" , "not pale" and
did not show any fever symptoms.

Raja Petra in his blog alleged that Dr. Mohamed Osman, a Burmese Muslim, who
has 20 years of experience as a doctor who had previously worked in
government hospitals before joining Pusrawi about a year ago, was detained
by the police for three days but refused to "doctor" his report to
"implicate Anwar".

Raja Petra further alleged that Dr. Mohamed Osman "has now taken his entire
family and has gone into hiding because the police are looking for him and
want him to change his medical report".

These are very disturbing turn of developments in the latest sodomy
allegation against Anwar and police investigations, and will subject
Malaysia to a new and most adverse spate of international bashing unless
police can come forward without a single second of delay to categorically
throw light on the first medical report on Saiful and the whereabouts of Dr.
Mohamad Osman - especially in the light of the outrage and scandal of the
disappearance of private investigator

Tidak dinafikan mana mana individu bebas menggunakan mana mana peguam dalam kes 
mereka, malah Karpal Singh juga pernah digunakan dalam kes pemimpin Kerajaan, 
Namun bila ia melibatkan "Conflict of Interest" Kepentingan dalam kes yang 
sedang berjalan tidakkah ia menimbulkan keraguan? Musa Hassan pernah disebut 
dalam akuan bersumpah Bala Subramaniam berjumpa dengan Najib dengan lafaz "Be 
cool" dari Najib untuk Razak Baginda. manakala Peguam Kamarul Hisham masih lagi 
terlibat dalam perbicaraan Altantuya manakala sekarang Musa Hassan 
menggunakannya dalam kes Saman terhadap Anwar. jadi apa komplot mereka? tidak 
adakah peguam lain untuk dibawa kes ke Mahkamah? 

sedangkan ia hanya saman kes sivil bukan kes jenayah untuk menggunakan peguam 
yang handal, malah Musa Hassan tidak nyatakan tuntutannya tetapi penekanan Musa 
Hassan dalam Samannya terhadap Anwar adalah perintah Injuksi iaitu satu 
perintah dimana menghalang dari Anwar atau Media menyiarkan tuduhan Anwar 
kerana kononnya ia Fitnah. mengapa Musa Hassan terdesak untuk menghalang 
pendedahan Anwar. Anwar bukan cakap kosong kerana ia beserta Dokumen asal. jadi 
ini satu tindakan terdesak Musa Hassan kerana Anwar punyai bukti kukuh. itu 
sebabnya ia tidak nyatakan jumlah tuntutan tetapi mahu menghalang pendedahan 
oleh Anwar. mungkin kerana Musa hassan malu untuk hanya membuat perintah 
Injuksi lalu diselitkan dengan Saman Malu. jangan berselindunglah Musa Hassan.

Apa Jaminan Kes Altantuya tidak ada komplot antara Peguam Kamarul Hisham peguam 
peletup Altantuya dengan Musa Hassan sebagai orang yang bertanggung jawab dalam 
kes tersebut. malah dia disebut dalam akuan bersumpah berjumpa dengan Najib Tun 
Razak antara nama disebut orang yang terlibat bersama isterinya Rosmah Mansur

 Tindakan Menteri Kerja Raya Mohd Zin Mohamed mengumumkan ujian sistem 
pembayaran tol baru pada November ini yang dinamakan Laluan Pantas PelbagaiGuna 
sebenarnya tidak memenuhi aspirasi rakyat. Pada masa ini isu tol masih lagi 
menjadi beban kepada rakyat dan cadangan memansuhkan tol melalui 
pengambilalihan oleh Kerajaan wajar dikaji.

Apa yang dilakukan oleh menteri ini umpama meletakan garam pada luka rakyat 
bagi memenuhkan kantung syarikat konsensi Tol dengan berlipat kali ganda. 
Sistem ini mampu mengendalikan lebih 2,000 kenderaan sejam berbanding sistem 
SmartTag yang hanya boleh mengendalikan 800 ke 1,000 kenderaan sejam dan 
peningkatan keupayaan ini juga bermakna peningkatan kepada hasil tol yang hanya 
dinikmati oleh konsensi tol tanpa adanya cadangan pengurangan atau 
pemansuhannya.


Harus diingat sekali lagi bahawa rakyat menuntut penghapusan tol bukannya 
pengantian kepada sistem bayaran yang lebih canggih!

KUALA LUMPUR: Pengguna jalan raya pada masa hadapan mungkin tidak perlu 
berhenti di pondok tol untuk membuat bayaran sebaliknya masih boleh berbuat 
demikian walaupun ketika sedang memandu pada kelajuan melebihi 100 kilometer 
sejam.
Menteri Kerja Raya Datuk Ir Mohd Zin Mohamed berkata Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia 
(LLM) akan membuat ujian sistem pembayaran tol baru pada November ini yang 
dinamakan Laluan Pantas PelbagaiGuna.
"Ujian ini akan dibuat di Plaza Tol Sungai Penchala (LDP)," katanya selepas 
menghadiri forum ‘Menglobalisasikan Profesional Muda Malaysia Perspektif Masa 
Depan’ di sini hari ini.
Beliau berkata sistem baru yang dibangunkan oleh sebuah syarikat dari Jepun dan 
mampu merekod bayaran pada kelajuan tinggi itu didapati amat berkesan apabila 
mampu mengendalikan lebih 2,000 kenderaan sejam berbanding sistem SmartTag yang 
hanya boleh mengendalikan 800 ke 1,000 kenderaan sejam.
Mohd Zin berkata sistem bayaran tol secara tunai pula hanya boleh mengendalikan 
300 kenderaan sejam menyebabkan sering berlaku kesesakan di plaza tol terutama 
pada musim perayaan.
Beliau berkata jika sistem baru itu berkesan dan digunakan, pemandu tidak lagi 
perlu berhenti atau memperlahankan kenderaan untuk membayar tol seperti amalan 
sekarang dan sekali gus mengatasi masalah kesesakan.
Sistem baru itu menggunakan teknologi gelombang mikro boleh mencatat bayaran 
dua kali lebih pantas walapun kenderaan bergerak laju lebih 100 km sejam, 
berbanding teknologi infrared yang digunakan pada sistem SmartTag sekarang, 
katanya.
Beliau berkata LLM berminat menggunakan sistem pantas itu yang turut digunakan 
di negara-negara maju seperti Australia dan Jepun bagi mengatasi masalah 
kesesakan di plaza tol.
Mohd Zin berkata bagaimanapun pihaknya akan mengkaji faktor kos tambahan untuk 
memasang sistem pengesan kesalahan trafik, selain kos tambahan penyelenggaraan 
yang lain termasuk keberkesanan sistem itu pada ujian November ini.
Difahamkan ujian sistem itu akan ditanggung sepenuhnya oleh syarikat Jepun 
berkenaan.
Dalam perkembangan lain, Mohd Zin berkata penubuhan Institut Kajian Kerja Raya 
telah diluluskan oleh kabinet tiga minggu lepas. BERNAMA

Lagi lama kes liwat ini, lebih merugikan Umno dan menguntungkan Anwar

Reformasi bergema semula?
 
Ada yang kata mustahil dan ada yang kata tidak mustahil reformasi 1998 akan 
bergema semula. Isu ini sedang bermain di fikiran pembesar negeri. Langkah 
mesti berhati-hati. Kalau mahu pun kita mengambil tindakan ke atas Anwar, 
kerajaan khususnya kepimpinan yang memimpin perlu berhati-hati. Sebarang 
langkah yang tidak menampakkan ketelusan perlu diselesaikan agar rakyat yakin 
atas sebarang tindakan yang mahu diambil ke atas Anwar Ibrahim biar dia berada 
dipihak yang benar atau tidak.
Apa yang ada hari ini adalah keyakinan mereka yang menyokong Anwar Ibrahim 
terhadap sistem yang ada. Mereka mencurigai kerajaan. Mereka mencurigai badan 
kehakiman dan Jabatan Polis. Adakah salah mereka mencurigai kedua-dua badan 
ini? Sekiranya Polis Di Raja Malaysia tidak diragui, pasti Anwar tidak akan 
mendapat sokongan. Pasti mereka yang menyokong Anwar akan menyerahkan kepada 
polis secara keseluruhan untuk menyiasat kes ini. Sehingga hari ini, yang 
menjadi masalah ialah kepercayaan mereka terhadap Institusi ini. Mereka ragu 
campur tangan kuasa-kuasa politik dalam isu ini. 
Adakah mungkin mereka yang terlibat dalam reformasi tahun 1998 lupa. Kalau 
golongan reformasi sewaktu itu berumur 30 tahun – hari ini mereka berusia 40 
tahun dan pasti ingatan mereka masih segar lagi. Mereka pasti sedar dan 
bertanyakan khabar Azizan Abu Bakar yang membuat tuduhan liwat pertama. Apa 
pula khabar Umi Halfida yang membawa cerita anak Azmin Ali itu adalah anak 
Anwar Ibrahim? Bagaimana pula Lim Kong Boon, pakar DNA – membuang sampel dan 
akhirnya proses itu dibuang oleh mahkamah. Bagaimana pula Agustine Paul ? Semua 
ini masih teringat-ingat di pemikiran mereka. Mereka masih ada lagi berkeliaran 
di muka bumi Malaysia dan mereka percaya Anwar Ibrahim tidak bersalah kerana 
prosedur mahkamah dan tindakan polis sewaktu itu amat mendukacitakan. Adakah 
kita ingat kata-kata ini, tarikh pertuduhan itu tersilap – tersalah taip dan 
rumah tempat di tertuduh melakukan liwat – tidak siap sewaktu tarikh tuduhan di 
buat. Namun mahkamah menerima
 kesalahan tarikh, pindaan tarikh dan bermacam-macam-macam isu lain – sehingga 
satu persoalan timbul – adakah Azizan di buat pemeriksaan doktor? 
Memori inilah yang menyinggahi mereka hari ini. Memori ini dan karakter seperti 
Abdul Ghani Patail dan Musa Hassan adalah penghalang untuk apa juga realiti 
yang ada. Sistem kehakiman yang hilang asas “ tanpa sebarang keraguan” menjadi 
penyebab kenapa mereka terus menerus mempercayai Anwar Ibrahim. 
Ini belum lagi kenyataan Lim Kong Boon dalam isu DNA. Elok kalau kita rujuk 
semula, kata beliau “ "DNA should not be the sole foundation for finding a 
person guilty," he said. "We must also look for other evidence” petikan dari 
BBC News 1998. 
Jelas apa yang berlaku hari ini bukan Anwar sahaja yang di adili tetapi hari 
ini melewati tahun 1998 – 2004 yang sedang diadili adalah Kerajaan Negara 
Malaysia – sistem perundangan dan polis. Adakah salah kalau kita katakan, 
dengan apa yang berlaku pada tahun 1998 maka kepercayaan ratusan ribu rakyat 
tercalar dan untuk meyakinkan mereka adalah satu usaha yang berat. Andai benar 
pun Anwar melakukan liwat – tetapi liwat ke atas sistem yang ada sebelum ini 
membuat mereka terus menyokong Anwar. Salah siapa? 
Sebenarnya dalam isu ini kerajaan dan kepimpinan yang ada, seperti Syed Hamid, 
tidak perlu bersuara – dengan persoalan “kenapa takut” – kerana bagi mereka 
yang hadir setiap perbicaraan Anwar Ibrahim dari tahun 1998 – 2004 dan membaca 
cara perjalanan kes itu – keraguan sudah cukup besar untuk mereka terus 
mempercayai sistem yang ada. Di tambah pula dengan isu sistem kehakiman yang 
ada – isu kes Lingam, isu kes Altantuya yang penuh dengan kehairanan dengan 
peranan yang dimainkan oleh polis – sedikit sebanyak menjadikan sebarang 
pertuduhan terhadap Anwar sesuatu yang dikatakan konspirasi. 
Mungkin kita perlu membersihkan semula banyak isu tertunda – memulakan langkah 
meyakinkan rakyat terhadap janji-janji kita. Kerakusan dan kesilapan dalam 
mengendalikan kes ini akan terus mengundang penentangan. Sehingga kes 
pertuduhan liwat ini juga telah memberi sedikit keraguan bila mana kenyataan 
Najib mengenai kehadiran penuduh, Saiful Bukhari menemui beliau mencurigakan 
penyokong Anwar. Ini pula di tambahan dengan penangkapan awal dari tempoh jam 
2.00pm dan lebih buruk lagi setelah Anwar Ibrahim memperakui kehadiran beliau.
Kemungkaran janji ini di jawab pula oleh Ketua Polis Negara dengan jawapan yang 
tidak konklusif. Sungguhpun mungkin ini prosedur biasa tetapi hakikat apa yang 
telah berlaku pada tahun 1998 – kehilangan keyakinan penyokong dan rakyat 
secara am terhadap polis perlu diambil kira. Semua ini memberi kesan negatif 
kepada mereka yang sudah terpalit dengan perjuangan reformasi cetusan Anwar 
Ibrahim sebelum ini.

(Kuala Lumpur) Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has provided an alibi 
to police to prove he did not sodomize a male aide but will not give a DNA 
sample for fear it could be manipulated to frame him, his lawyer said Friday.
DNA evidence was fabricated when Anwar was similarly accused of sodomy 10 years 
ago, and he does not trust the police not to do it again, his lawyer, Sivarasa 
Rasiah, said.
The new sodomy accusation against Anwar comes as the government is faced with 
growing public anger with the ruling coalition, which suffered election losses 
in March to a resurgent opposition. Anwar has vowed to build on that victory 
and topple the government in September.
He was arrested on Wednesday and interrogated for hours over the accusation by 
a young male aide who claimed to be a victim of sodomy. Anwar was released 
Thursday on bail, but remains a suspect in the case.
Sodomy, even between consenting adults, is punishable by up to 20 years in 
prison.
During the interrogation Anwar gave "full details" of his alibi, Sivarasa said.
"We have given it in full to the police. We know that they know everything that 
has to be known," he said, refusing to elaborate, citing the ongoing 
investigation.
He said Anwar allowed himself to be stripped during a medical examination and 
even had his body parts measured. But he drew the line at giving a DNA swab, 
which he is not legally bound to do.
"Anwar has even more reason to believe of the probability that DNA evidence 
will be fabricated again," Sivarasa said. He suggested if Anwar was to give a 
sample, it could be planted on the accuser, who is living under police 
supervision.
The accusation by the 23-year-old aide was a political bombshell, dealing a 
severe blow to Anwar's resurgent three-party opposition alliance that won an 
unprecedented 82 seats in the 222-member Parliament in the March 8 elections.
The result reduced the ruling National Front coalition's strength to 140 seats, 
down from the two-thirds majority it enjoyed for the last 41 years. Anwar now 
aims to engineer defections from the National Front to take over the government 
by September.
He has dismissed the sodomy accusation as a political plot to stop him from 
toppling the government. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's ministers have 
denied any conspiracy against Anwar.
On Thursday, Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar challenged Anwar to give a DNA swab 
if he wants the truth to be known.
"What is he afraid of? He can even have his own doctor present when the tests 
are carried out," he said.
Anwar claims police fabricated evidence against him in the 1998 case when he 
was accused of having sex with his family driver. Anwar says he was framed by 
then-Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad during a power struggle.
Malaysia's Supreme Court eventually overturned the sodomy conviction against 
Anwar, but by then he had served six years in prison on a related abuse of 
power charge. He was freed in 2004 and revived his political career as an 
opposition leader.
Sivarasa said Anwar would consider giving a DNA sample if it can be 
"independently verified" that all procedures are "done professionally and 
without any interference from the police."
He also questioned why the police report citing the aide has not been made 
public and "remains shrouded in secrecy."

Negara dikejutkan dengan berita penangkapan DSAI setelah tidak sampai 24 jam 
beliau memberi harapan baru kepada rakyat.Berita penangkapan oleh polis 
bertopeng pada ketika tempoh untuk beliau hadir di IPKKL masih belum 
tamat.Tindakan melulu polis ini mencetuskan keadaan tidak senang di kalangan 
rakyat  sekaligus menimbulkan suasana hiba bercampur geram rakyat. Sepanjang 
tempoh penahanan DSAI ramai yang tidak senang duduk dan apabila dimaklumkan 
bahawa DSAI dikehendaki bermalam di lokap polis yang seperti kandang kambing 
itu maka perasaan hiba rakyat semakin memuncak. 

Ramai yang "stand by" di malam tersebut semata mata untuk mendengar panggilan 
dari DSAI.Di ibu negara para belia lepak di banyak komplek beli belah sambil 
menanti panggilan dari DSAI.Mereka bersedia dengan sepenuh hati untuk turun ke 
jalan raya menuntut pembebasan DSAI serta perubahan.Mereka menunggu dengan 
penuh rasa hiba bercampur marah.
Suasana yang serupa juga dapat dilihat di banyak tempat di seluruh 
negara.Rakyat masih segar dengan hujah DSAI di malam sebelumnya.Rakyat masih 
menaruh harapan kepada apa yang dinyatakan oleh DSAI.Lantaran penangkapan dan 
pengurungan DSAI di lokap polis ini cukup menimbulkan perasaan sentimental di 
kalangan rakyat.Mereka sudah tidak sanggup lagi melihat DSAI diperlakukan 
sedemikian rupa. Mereka masih ingat pengalaman DSAI sejak 1998 dan tidak 
sanggup membiarkan perkara yang serupa berulang.
Rakyat sudah bersedia untuk berubah.Polis yang menggunakan tenaga yang agak 
ramai untuk menangkap DSAI mungkin lupa bahawa sekiranya rakyat tampil untuk 
menyelamatkan DSAI,mereka(polis) tidak akan mampu menahannya.Itulah hakikat 
yang nampaknya masih belum dapat disedari oleh polis.
Hari ini DSAI masih sayangkan rakyat.DSAI tidak mahu rakyat terkorban atau 
disakiti oleh polis.Kerana itu DSAI tidak memanggil rakyat sebaliknya 
menasihati mereka agar bertenang.Maka rakyatpun bertenang dengan penuh hiba dan 
geram.Polis sudah hilang kredibiliti di mata rakyat bilamana DSAI diperlakukan 
sedemikian rupa.DSAI tetap pejuang rakyat dan disokong oleh rakyat di akar 
umbi.Gelombang perubahan semakin kuat terasa.Tetapi ada pihak pihak tertentu 
masih cuba menghalang.Dengan menggunakan polis, mereka masih angkuh mencuba.Dan 
malang bagi anggota polis yang masih patut dengan arahan pihak atasan mereka.
Rakyat hiba mengenangkan nasib DSAI yang dipaksa bermalam di lokap sesudah

Mursyidul Am PAS Datuk Nik AbdulAziz Nik Mat menegur pengamal media yang 
memberi liputan keterlaluan dalam kes liwat Penasihat Parti Keadilan Rakyat 
(PKR) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sehingga mengaibkannya walaupun belum lagi 
terbukti bersalah.
Menteri Besar Kelantan itu kecewa dengan keghairahan media yang melaporkan 
berita penahanan Anwar di muka depan beserta gambar tetapi pembebasan Anwar 
dengan jaminan polis dilaporkan secara ringkas sahaja. 

"Saya nak tanya kenapa nak malukan dia sampai letak muka depan (media)...kena 
ingat Allah akan tutup aib kita di akhirat kalau kita tutup aib orang lain dan 
Allah juga akan dedah aib kita kelak kalau kita dedah aib orang di dunia," 
katanya semasa menyampaikan kuliah di Dataran Ilmu di sini hari ini. 
Sehubungan itu, beliau mengingatkan pengamal media bahawa setiap perbuatan itu 
akan dihitung di akhirat kelak.

In a rhetorical stance, the Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar posed
this question to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, "What is he afraid of?" Aliran
would like to pose this very question to Syed Albar, "What is he afraid of?"
Why are they afraid to release the police report lodged by Mohd Saiful
Bukari Azlan against Anwar Ibrahim on 28 June alleging sodomy?
Syed Hamid is quoted by the New Straits Times as saying, "Give blood sample
for the sake of truth." Aliran would like to tell Syed Hamid, "Give the
police report for the sake of justice."
Justice demands that an accused person should know what he is being accused
of. Only then he can defend himself. It is ridiculous for the police to
claim that Saiful had made a police report against Anwar and therefore they
have to investigate Anwar. Isn't Anwar entitled to know the nature of the
report? He has a right to know when the alleged offence took place and
where. This information is crucial for Anwar's rebuttal.
If Syed Hamid is wondering why this information is urgent and necessary,
Aliran would like to take him back ten years ago when a similar report of
sodomy was lodged against Anwar. His accuser then struggled to name a date
to make the allegation stick. He gave three different dates variously,
including a date when the building where the alleged sodomy was deemed to
have taken place was not even up! The accuser contradicted himself several
times. He was even caught for khalwat, raising questions regarding his
morality and reliability.
The injustice was so apparent in that episode of a decade ago that the
Federal Court overturned the High Court's controversial conviction.
Based on this experience, Anwar has every right to suspect that the police
want to get as much information as possible from him so that the police
report against him could be manipulated to incriminate him. Anwar had
legitimately asked, "Is it so that they can keep amending and amending and
amending it to fit in with the statement that I have just given to the
police. I gave my statement for five hours yesterday (Wednesday) and for
another 30 minutes this morning."
He has raised a relevant and pertinent point: "If they give the report to me
now, how am I supposed to know that it is the original? Are they waiting to
make up the 'perfect' police report (to fix me)?"
The police report was inexplicably denied every time it was requested for on
the premise that the police had been instructed against giving him a copy.
Who is this faceless and nameless superior officer who had given this
despicable instruction? If they are after the truth, shouldn't they have
released the police report so that Anwar himself would be in a position to
assist the police in discovering the truth?
Do they realise that by refusing to release the report, the police are seen
as believing Saiful's side of the story and suspecting Anwar of being
guilty? Where is the fairness? Both the accuser and the accused should be
treated fairly and justly so that the truth can be laid bare in the interest
of justice.
It is three weeks since the police report was made by Saiful. Why is it so
difficult to make the report available to Anwar? Anwar has insinuated that
both the Inspector-General of Police and the Attorney-General, who have been
accused of having manipulated the evidence against Anwar in the past, could
be the source and cause for Anwar's predicament in this instance.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had commented that Anwar should
be accorded 'the degree of decorum and respect he deserves'. Would he,
having said that, now go the extra mile by instructing the police to release
the police report to Anwar. If he does that, he would be walking the talk.

Penasihat Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim meminta polis 
membuktikan empat fakta yang kukuh sebelum membenarkan DNA beliau diambil.
"Bukti pertama, siapa rogol siapa, saya sakit pinggang, budak universiti (bekas 
pembantunya Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan) kuat.
"Bukti kedua, di mana (berlakunya kejadian), ketiga tempat mana dan keempat di 
mana saksi," katanya.
Polis sedang menyiasat aduan terhadap Anwar yang dibuat oleh bekas pembantunya 
Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, mendakwa diliwat oleh ketua umum PKR pada 26 Jun 
lalu.
Anwar enggan memberi contoh baru DNA beliau kerana bimbang ia akan dimanipulasi 
seperti yang didakwanya pernah berlaku 10 tahun yang lalu ketika perbicaraan 
kes pertamanya pada 1999.
Lagi pula, kata mantan timbalan perdana menteri itu, DNA beliau telahpun 
diambil untuk kes tersebut.

evidence" (bukti yang memberi pengesahan).
    
"Saya bukan tak boleh bagi darah, darah saya dulu telah diambil...ingat," 
katanya bahawa sampel DNA beliau pernah dibawa ke mahkamah.
Beliau merujuk kepada kes tuduhan liwat pertama yang pernah dikemukakan ke 
atasnya 10 tahun lepas.
Anwar juga menuduh polis telah bertindak melampau ketika menahannya pada Rabu 
lalu seolah-olah beliau "Osama Laden" .
    
"Saya telah "diiringi" oleh berpuluh-puluh motosikal besar anggota polis ketika 
saya dibawa ke Ibu Pejabat Polis (IPK) Kuala Lumpur, apa kesalahan saya," 
katanya.
    
Katanya semasa di lokap pula, beliau hanya beralaskan simen untuk beliau 
merehatkan diri.

Saiful made a police report allegedly stating that Anwar sodomized him - but 
then nobody seem to know what that police report says...what really is the 
content of the report remains a mystery to most, save the police, the 
complainant(and maybe Khairy, Syed Hamid and the PM). The WHY is worrying.
The fact that Anwar is not even provided the alleged police report makes it 
really odd - a police report (and this the First Information Report). The media 
seem to have gone to town stating that report alleges that Saiful was sodomized 
by Anwar - but what is the source? Did they see the report themselves? Did the 
police or Saiful tell the media? (I do not recollect really - matters not now 
anymore..)
Anwar(and/or others) who have or are going to be called in should at the very 
least have had access to this report, the basis for the commencement of the 
investigation.
Remember, we are not talking about the more detailed statement that the police 
will usually record from the complainant. We are talking about just the police 
report..)
It is a police investigation -- and it is shocking that BN MPs (including the 
son in law of the premier), Ministers and the now the Prime Minisiter is 
getting involved in what should be just a POLICE Investigation...
 
The authorities require a fresh DNA sample from Anwar Ibrahim because the 
sample extracted 10 years ago is too old, said Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad 
Badawi today.

So, WE are asking not the police are asking but "we are asking..." - this 
is getting really odd, and now it looks like good old Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has 
joint the police investigation team --maybe will also be part of the 
prosecution -- and maybe even the Judge indirectly ...
Come on Mr Prime Minister, you just stepped over the line - and this just 
supports even more that 'conspiracy theory' that seems to be developing
We all do not know the facts -- even what really has been alleged by the said 
Saiful person..., but let me just be hypothetical... and maybe even make some 
suggestions as to how we can move forward and satisfy the concerns/fears of all 
concerned.
a) First, there must be immediate disclosure and access to the police report of 
the said complainant.
b) Second, there must be an immediate taking of another statement from the said 
Saiful as to what really happened not by the police (which would have been done 
by now) - but maybe by a Magistrate/Judge - something in the nature of a 
deposition in court.
What I mean, is that it must be a statement recorded in court, also in the 
presence of the lawyers of the said Anwar... and locked away in some 
'court-safe' so that it cannot be changed later. (Maybe, there should also be 
video with audio recording also done, and the recorded tape/disc should 
immediately be handed over to court for safe-keeping.) If court is a problem, 
maybe the Bar Council (or even SUHAKAM) could assist here..
This will prevent allegations of later changing of the story/statement based on 
the 'evidence that were manufactured to get Anwar' (for that seems to be the 
Anwar's concern/fear)
c) Third, it must be disclosed the actual nature of the sodomy - and whether 
there is any medical evidence that supports the claim made by the 
complainant... (and if there are no direct evidence, whether there are some 
circumstantial evidence at least...)
d) Since they measured Anwar's private parts, let's assume that his private 
parts are involved... - Gone now is the ability for the defence to ask Saiful 
about that tattoo or that birth-mark (or absence of it) on the private parts of 
the suspect/accussed -- and then demonstrate the opposite is true hence 
shattering the credibility of the complainant
- Gone too the weight and the strength of the testimony of the complainant 
describing accurately the markings on the private parts (for after all, you who 
saw when examination and measurement was done can tell the complainant)
e) Next, were there any semen or body fluids (DNA) of another found on/in the 
body of the complainant, or on the bed or at the alleged place of the said 
crime? If yes, can we isolate these samples now, do the necessary DNA tests and 
provide the results immediately to Anwar (and/or his lawyers) first.. and to 
the court (or some independent body like the Bar Council, maybe) for 
safekeeping.
WHY? The concern of Anwar seems to be, that if I give you my sample now, you 
will use it ...maybe place it here (and there), maybe on some mattress, etc 
so, if what is proposed is done first before the taking of any new DNA sample 
from Anwar, then what is feared would not be able to be done easily(or would it 
still be)
After all, Anwar's DNA sample cannot change - and, later when he gives it, and 
it is analyzed, we will all be able to see i

First of all, I must say that I do not possess any information which is not 
already public knowledge. However, I have been following news of the new sodomy 
allegation against Anwar closely and I’m analysing this from the perspective of 
‘reasonable behaviour’ and ‘balance of probability.’ Here are the reasons why I 
think Anwar is not guilty.
1. Is Anwar gay? A person who has fathered six children has established his 
sexual orientation firmly. Bisexuality is very rare and in any case he does not 
fit the mould. He has a loving family and his wife is standing steadfastly by 
him which says a lot. 
2. The highly controversial sodomy conviction of 1998 failed to convince most 
people. A person in a position of power who allegedly cannot control himself to 
even keep away from his wife’s driver, must have a string of partners. One must 
ask, why has nobody else come out of the woodwork? Why was it necessary to 
coerce false confessions from two of his associates?
3. A person on the cusp of attaining political power would not be so stupid as 
to risk everything. If indeed one assumes that he cannot control his urge, 
where are the others that he may have violated or other consensual partners? 
With multiple partners, it’s a secret which is almost impossible to keep for a 
public figure.
4. Anwar’s anger and outrage at the new allegation is exactly how a wronged 
person will react. His body language when he speaks of the issue is consistent 
with his words.
5. When news broke of the police report against him, Anwar took refuge at the 
Turkish embassy. I believe he did so as he feared immediate arrest and not so 
much a threat on his life. This shows that Anwar believes there is a conspiracy 
against him rather than a private complaint which would not warrant immediate 
arrest. A guilty person would immediately assume it’s a private complaint.
6. Saiful’s resignation e-mail to Anwar did not suggest he had been sodomised 
and traumatised by his boss. This e-mail has not been denied by him.
7. The notion that a 61-year-old man can force himself on a 23-year-old youth 
is unthinkable. If threats were used, what can Anwar possibly threaten him with 
as he is not in a position of power?
Is there a conspiracy against Anwar? I believe there is for the following 
reasons.
1. The accuser, Saiful was obviously closely connected with Umno and has been 
photographed with a few Umno leaders including an aide to the deputy prime 
minister.
2. Saiful is obviously pro-Umno as had been revealed by his online postings. 
Why then did he induct himself into PKR as a volunteer if not for some ulterior 
motive?
3. His visit to the DPM’s office a few months before the incident was explained 
as him having gone there to apply for a scholarship. This is a very awkward 
explanation. As a college dropout, Saiful was not in the market for a 
scholarship and in any case, the DPM’s office is the wrong department to go. 
And why would a scholarship applicant have his photograph taken with a senior 
aide? One must ask, why is it necessary to obfuscate and conceal the real 
purpose of his visit?
4. Najib at first denied he had ever met Saiful and later admitted that he met 
Saiful at his residence when a traumatised and sodomised Saiful came to ask for 
his advice. Why did Najib first deny and then admit later when under pressure? 
Was he trying to conceal something? 
5. Najib said he listened to Saiful’s story and told him it’s up to him whether 
he wants to lodge a police report or not. This is not credible. Wouldn’t Najib 
have jumped at the opportunity to discredit his political nemesis and insist 
that Saiful make a police report? 
It is wrong for anybody - much less a minister - who has been told a crime not 
to bring it to the attention of the law enforcement agencies. Why is Najib 
giving unbelievable explanations? Is he trying to divert all thoughts away from 
a conspiracy and overdoing it?
6. Najib said that Saiful visited him a few days before he made his police 
report. The report was made on Saturday and the sodomy was alleged to have 
occurred on Thursday. This means Saiful could only have visited Najib on 
Friday, one day before he made his report. 
This is stretching the definition of ‘a few days’ to breaking point. 
Establishing when the meeting actually took place will shed light on the 
veracity of the allegation. 
7. How easy is it for an ordinary person to drop in and see the DPM at his 
residence or office on such short notice? If he has been sexually violated, 
there is no need to hawk his allegation to politicians first before going to 
the police.
8. Saiful’s smiling and confident demeanor when he emerged a few days after his 
police report certainly does not indicate a man who has been sodomised and 
traumatised.
9. Saiful’s public challenge to Anwar to swear his innocence on the Quran is 
unbecoming of a real victim who would be expected to feel depresse

When Information Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek and former deputy prime minister 
and de-facto opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim took the stage for the recent 
debate, the name of former Tenaga Nasional Berhad's (TNB) executice chairman 
was mentioned.

Anwar said that Tan Sri Ani Arope resigned because he was not in favour of the 
government' s stand on the independent power producers (IPPs). Tan Sri Ani was 
TNB's executive chairman from 1990 to 1996 and it was during his tenure that 
the first generation IPPs were created.




Tan Sri Ani is known for his honest and no nonsence way of doing things and 
former high court judge, Dato Syed Ahmad Idid justly described the Penang-born 
scientist as follows:




"Tan Sri Ani was and remains an upright person and had to suffer because he did 
not agree with the IPPs getting away with too much ... and consumers have to 
pay."




"I am not anti-IPPs per se. It is good to have other players but it has to be 
done fairly. It has to be fair to the consumers, not just TNB, which is a 
conduit. TNB, because of the electricity hike, has been treated as the whipping 
boy. The focus should be on the consumers," Tan Sri Ani once told StarBiz in an 
exclusive interview.




When the generous terms were given to the IPPs, Tan Sri Ani said all of his 
other peers around the world asked what was happening. They said they would 
like to have a share in the IPPs. They said (the contracts to IPPs) were "too 
darn generous."



When Anwar touched on the IPPs, Shabery Cheek replied that it was implemented 
when Anwar was Finance Minister. It is interesthing to note that in the StarBiz 
interview, Tan Sri Ani was asked "How was the Malaysian model of IPPs created?" 
and he answered "Ask our Prime Minister."




He was also asked "How was the process of negotiations with IPPs conducted?" 
and he replied: "There was no negotiaion. Absolutely none. Instead of talking 
directly with the IPPs, TNB was sitting down with the EPU (Economic Planning 
Unit of the Prime Minister's Department). And we were harassed, humiliated and 
talked down every time we went there. After that, my team was disappointed. The 
EPU just gave us the terms and asked us to agree. I said no way I would."




Tan Sri Ani also said the pricing and terms of the contracts was all fixed up. 
"This is the price, this is the capcity charge and this is the number of years. 
They said you just take it and I refused to sign the contracts. And then, I was 
put out to pasture."



He described the terms agreed by the EPU as "grossly unfair.

" At 16 sen per unit (kWh) and with the take or pay situation, actully it was 
23 sen per unit. With 23 sen, plus transmission and distribution costs, TNB 
would have had to charge the consumer no less than 30 sen per unit. If mix with 
TNB's cost, Tan Sri Ani said the cost would come down but that was at TNB's 
expense because the utility company were producing electricity at 8 sen a unit. 
"We can deliver electricity at 17 sen per unit," he said.




Tan Sri Ani also said that "nobody produces excess electricity like Malaysia 
and it goes to waste because there are no batteries to store that power. TNB 
only needs a reserve of 15 per cent to 20 per cent."




In the interview, Tan sri Ani told StarBiz that he felt sick of the process of 
awarding the IPP contracts. "It was morally wrong and not fair. If it is legal 
and not fair, I will not do it. If it is fair and illegal, I still won't do it. 
It has to be legal and fair. We work for the consumers, workers and 
shareholders. TNB is morally obliged to these three, but the consumers come 
first, otherwise we won't be around. It is then the workers and the 
shareholders."

File attached is statement released by the counsel to Anwar Ibrahim, Sivarasa 
Rasiah, who is also the Vice President of KeADILan in a press conference today 
at Segambut Dalam.

Statements being made by senior government officials raise concerns as to the 
credible dispensation of  the law, and suggest that a political conspiracy is 
very much at play in smearing the credibility and  reputation of our client.  
They are making statements imputing that Anwar Ibrahim is not cooperating  with 
the police.  
 
We are referring, as an example, to the comments made by Home Minister Syed 
Hamid Albar reported on the front page of the New Straits Times, page three of 
the Star and covered in other printed and electronic media. Syed Hamid should 
know better than to attempt to exert his influence on this matter.  
 
As a Cabinet Member, Syed Hamid’s comments are tantamount to interfering in an 
ongoing investigation. He is quoted as saying “What is he afraid of? He can 
have his own doctor present when giving the sample.” 
 
Besides being an inappropriate interference in the investigation, these 
comments show a fundamental misunderstanding of the concerns we are raising 
regarding the introduction of DNA evidence.  
 
In 1998-1999 trials, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim experienced the phenomenon of 
fabrication of DNA evidence. We had SAC Rodwan illegally removing DNA samples 
from forensic custody.  In cross-examination of the prosecution’s witnesses it 
was exposed that DNA taken from blood samples was planted on the infamous 
mattress.  When confronted with this fact the prosecution amended its charge 
and persuaded the judge, Augustine Paul, to expunge the entire DNA evidence 
from the record, preventing Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s lawyers from 
responding.   
 
The persons who were implicated in the fabrication of evidence during Dato Seri 
Anwar’s 1998-1999 trials, namely Gani Patail, Musa Hassan, and Rodwan are the 
same players who are involved in the current case. Today they are in much more 
powerful positions within the law enforcement apparatus. 
 
Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has even more reason to believe of the probability that 
DNA evidence will be fabricated once again.  This is reasonable because the 
complainant remains in police custody since 28 June 2008 and the police are 
also in possession of Anwar Ibrahim’s DNA from the earlier case.  
 
Our client’s concerns are therefore not resolved, as Syed Hamid believes, by 
his handing over a DNA sample through his own doctor or through an 
international forensic expert.  
 
It would have to be independently verified first that all medical examinations 
and sample taking relating to the complainant were done professionally and 
without any interference from the police before Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim will 
consider participating in any DNA analysis.

Raja Petra's criminal defamation: 
The AG's Chambers cannot be both the complainant and prosecutor  

I wish to express my extreme concern regarding the criminal defamation charge 
of Raja Petra Kamarudin, prominent webmaster of news portal Malaysia Today, on 
17 July 2008. The charge arose from Raja Petra’s statutory declaration which 
stated, among others, that Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’ wife Rosmah 
Mansor was involved in the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu. 
In May, Raja Petra was charged with sedition for making similar accusations in 
an article which he wrote on his website. 
This criminal defamation charge, which carries a maximum punishment of up to 
two years’ imprisonment, is clearly another attempt to intimidate and quell 
dissidents and government critics like Raja Petra from exposing the wrongdoings 
and criminal activities of high-level government officials and their family 
members. Criminal defamation is an archaic and odious law, a relic from the 
British Empire. This offence no longer exists or at least had fallen into 
disuse in many modern and democratic states. 
Rosmah has already said that she does not wish to take any action against Raja 
Petra. Therefore, I am extremely appalled to discover that the AG’s Chambers 
seemed to have acted as the complainant in this case and have taken this highly 
questionable recourse of criminal prosecution when there appeared to have been 
no police report lodged by any of the aggrieved parties. Even if Rosmah, or 
anyone else, is aggrieved, the proper recourse is for them to file a civil 
defamation suit. The state machinery has no place in such disputes. 
Furthermore, the Attorney General himself is currently under investigation by 
the ACA for serious allegations of fabricating and suppressing evidence in the

I would like to remind the Attorney General that the AG’s Chambers is a public 
institution and not a personal arm of the government or high-level officials to 
be misused for political intimidation and attacks against opponents. The AG’s 
Chambers has fallen into serious disrepute over the last two decades with well 
founded accusations of selective and politically motivated prosecutions. 
I therefore object in the strongest terms the continuing misuse of the AG’s 
Chambers and demand the immediate withdrawal of the criminal charges against 
Raja Petra.

kerana bimbang berulang proses pemalsuan bukti sampel itu seperti dalam 
perbicaraan kes pertamanya kira-kira 10 tahun lepas, kata peguamnya.
Sivarasa Rasiah, yang juga naib presiden PKR, berkata Anwar pernah mengalami 
penipuan bukti DNA beliau apabila sampel sebenar dalam jagaan polis forensik 
telah dibuang secara tidak sah oleh seorang pegawai berpangkat senior asisten 
komisioner.
"Ketika disoal balas terhadap saksi-saksi pendakwaan, terdedahlah bahawa DNA 
yang diambil dari sampel darah telah sengaja diletakkan (kemudian) ke atas 
tilam yang dikenali umum itu (melalui televisyen)," kata Sivarasa.
Beliau menjelaskan, apabila peguam bekas timbalan perdana menteri itu juga 
mencabarnya, keterangan awal tentang perkara itu dibuang daripada keterangan 
mahkamah oleh hakim waktu itu Datuk S Augustine Paul.
"Apabila dihadapkan dengan fakta ini, pihak pendakwaan meminda pertuduhan 
(terhadap Anwar) dan memujuk hakim, Augustine Paul, agar membuang keseluruhan 
bukti DNA daripada rekod (keterangan mahkamah), menghalang peguam-peguam Anwar 
mencabarnya."
Tambahnya, Anwar hanya bersedia memberikan sampel DNA sekiranya ia dijalankan 
secara profesional dan wujud pihak perubatan yang bebas. 
Sivarasa juga menganggap kenyataan menteri dalam negeri Datuk Seri Syed Hamid 
Albar sebagai "mencampuri" urusan siasatan polis dalam kes tersebut.
Mengulas laporan sebuah akhbar berbahasa Inggeris hari ini, peguam itu berkata 
Anwar memang ditelanjang dan bahagian sulitnya diukur seperti dimaklumkan 
kepada media semalam.
New Straits Times hari ini memetik satu sumber, yang tidak dinamakan, dari 
hospital Kuala Lumpur yang menafikan doktor berbuat demikian seperti dakwaan

Malaysian Prime Minister, Abdullah Ahmed Badawi arrived in Bodrum yesterdayto 
see his boat which he ordered four months ago. Badawi arrived in Bodrumat 1.30 
am with a private jet that belongs to Malaysia Airlines.

The head official of Milas, Bahattin Atci, and Malaysian businessman 
AnandaKrishnan, who is the sixth richest man in Asia , welcomed Badawi. 
KamilSezgun, who is the director of Kobra Yachting and Tourism Ltd Co, was 
alsopresent. 

Badawi and his friend Krishan went to Gokova for fishing with a luxurymotor 
yacht belonging to Kremala Holding, which was brought over here fromMalta .. 
The luxury yacht 'Obsessions' is 40-meter long, madein the Netherlands and the 
captain of the yacht is Cavit Kabak. The yachtwas anchored in Milta Marina. 


Badawi said he loves Bodrum and south Aegean and the Mediterranean so much.It's 
a great pleasure for him to be here fishing and resting on the line(horizon) 
that connects blue and green (ocean and land).



The boat will cost 8 million dollars

The boat is made of Akaju, Maun, Sipo and Brimanya's tree which is importedfrom 
South Africa . It is expected to be completed in 16 months. Some 60people are 
involved in the construction of the boat. The boat will be deliveredafter 12 
months (since he ordered it four months ago). The capacity ofthe boat is for 14 
people and the length is 44 meters. The boat will cost8 million US dollars.

Ketepatan DNA dalam menentukan identiti seorang individu jangan disangkal. 
Hanya dengan DNA dapat menjadi bukti dalam apa jua kes siasatan. Dalam apa-apa 
kes jenayah, walaupun tidak melibatkan kes kematian, pembunuhan, rogol dan 
sebagainya, DNA dapat membantu dan membuktikan identiti individu yang terlibat 
dan membuktikan sama ada menjadi pesalah mahupun bukan pesalah dan anda boleh 
dipersalahkan! 



Sampel DNA boleh didapati dari setiap inci badan manusia. Bukan hanya dari 
darah, malah dari rambut, bulu roma, air liur, mani, sel kulit, kuku dan 
sebagainya. Di negara-negara barat, polis menyimpan data-data DNA warganya 
lebih-lebih lagi bagi penjenayah-penjenayah yang telah dikenalpasti sebagai 
rekod tindakan polis.
Oleh kerana itu, di Malaysia dan dimana-mana negara, setiap warganya mempunyai 
hak untuk tidak membenarkan mana-mana pihak mengambil sampel DNA seseorang 
individu kecuali individu itu diperincikan tujuan DNA itu diambil dan 
relevannya dengan siasatan agar DNA ini tidak dimanipulasikan 
sewenang-wenangnya. Ianya bertujuan menghalang perbuatan mensabotaj dan 
berlakunya pengkhianatan.
Sebagai contoh mudah, anda adalah suspek (telah direman dan sebagainya) dalam 
satu tuduhan rompakan bank. Dalam kejadian tembak-menembak, anda telah ditembak 
di kaki. Darah menitis di lantai dan anda berjaya melarikan diri semasa hari 
kejadian. 
Polis Jenayah Siasatan Tempat Kejadian telah mengambil sampel darah dan 
mengenalpasti milik DNA. Setelah siasatan, terbukti DNA itu adalah milik anda 
dan membuktikan anda adalah orang yang terlibat dalam rompakan itu.
Itupun jika siasatan polis telus dan memperincikan perkembangan siasatan dari 
semasa ke semasa. Sentiasa membuat sidang akhbar dan memaklumkan perkembangan 
dan keperluan sebenar DNA anda di ambil. 
Jika ketelusan ini tidak berlaku, perkara manipulasi dan sabotaj terhadap bukti 
DNA boleh berlaku. Bagaimana manipulasi ini berlaku?
Anda tidak pernah terlibat dalam apa-apa rompakan. Anda seorang yang baik. 
Disenangi oleh orang kebanyakkan. Tetapi ada beberapa kerat manusia yang tidak

benar, merelakan DNA anda diambil. Sekaligus memerangkap diri sendiri. 
Anda dikatakan telah berada di tempat rompakan kerana DNA dari darah yang 
dijumpai di tempat kejadian adalah bertepatan dengan DNA anda. DNA dari darah 
asal telah dimusnahkan bagi menghilangkan bukti. Maka merengkoklah anda

John Schneeberger was born in Zambia and received medical education at the 
Stellenbosch University in South Africa. In 1987, he moved to Canada. He lived 
in the town of Kipling, Saskatchewan and practiced in the Kipling Medical 
Center. He married Lisa Dillman, and had two daughters with her. In 1993, he 
acquired Canadian citizenship.

On the night of 31 October 1992, Schneeberger sedated his 23-year-old patient, 
Candice, and raped her. While Versed — the anesthetic he used — has strong 
amnesiac effect, Candice was still able to remember the rape. She reported the 
crime to the police.
Scheenburger's blood sample was, however, found not to match the samples of the 
alleged rapist's semen, thus clearing him of suspicion. In 1993, at the 
victim's request, the test was repeated, but the result was negative, as well. 
In 1994, the case was closed.
Candice, still convinced that her reminiscences were true, hired Larry O'Brien, 
a private detective, to investigate the case. He broke into Schneeberger's car 
and obtained another DNA sample, which, this time, matched the semen on 
victim's panties and pants. As a result, third official test was organized. The 
obtained blood sample was, however, found to be too small and of too poor 
quality to be useful for analysis.
In 1997, Lisa Schneeberger found out that her husband had repeatedly drugged 
and raped her 15-year-old daughter from her first marriage. She reported him to 
the police, which ordered fourth DNA test. This time, multiple samples were 
taken: blood, mouth swab, and hair follicle. All three matched the rapist's 
semen.

Wartawan Bernama yang berada di HKL melaporkan bahawa Anwar, 61, tiba di Wad 
Diraja hospital itu pada pukul 8.45 malam ini dengan diiringi anggota polis 
serta peguamnya Sivarasa Rasiah.
Anwar, yang memakai kot kelabu sama seperi yang digunakannya ketika menyertai 
majlis debat malam tadi, dibawa ke HKL dari Ibu pejabat Polis Kontinjen Kuala 
Lumpur (IPKKL) dengan sebuah kenderaan pacuan empat roda berwarna hitam, 
manakala peguamnya pula menaiki kenderaan berasingan.
Penasihat Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) itu yang diiringi 10 buah kenderaan 
pacuan empat roda milik polis didapati diberikan kawalan ketat sepanjang berada 
di hospital itu.
Beliau juga sempat melambai dan tersenyum kepada kumpulan media yang berada di 
HKL, selepas menyedari kehadiran mereka.

ex-deputy prime minister before the 2pm deadline. 

Now some other police officers arrest cyber activist Raja Petra who was on his 
way to Court. 

Pray, what is this? Is it a game called "Musical Chairs"? Playing games with 
the liberty of Malaysians while crimes such as snatch thefts, house burglary, 
and rapes are committed rampantly every day? 

Please, someone, bring back the investigative culture of the Royal Malaysian 
Police Force. That culture was defnitely the pride of the force in the 1960s. 

What happened along the way to the new millenium? Did some politician hijack 
it?

The public has been asked not to speculate. 

Indeed, no speculation is required if (IF) things have been done transparently 
in the past, and if (IF) unanswered questions in the past had been 
satisfactorily answered. 

My current question is this: If Anwar was granted police bail this morning at 
about 10 am, why could he not have been released on police bail 8 hours 
earlier, say at 2 am? What drastic change of circumstances has occurred during 
those 8 hours? 

Any functional mind will turn to speculation when credible answers are absent.

Like many Malaysians, I am very upset with the recent arrest of Dato ‘Anwar 
Ibrahim and I am glad to hear that he has been released (for now). 

It was reported that Anwar is being investigated pursuant to Section 377C of 
the Penal Code ie committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature 
without consent, etc. 

Firstly I do not believe that a 60 year old man in Anwar’s medical condition 
can “rape” someone in his early twenties. 

In any event, Section 377A of the Penal Code defines "carnal intercourse 
against the order of nature" as meaning "sexual connection with another person 
by the introduction of the p***s into the anus or mouth of the other person" 
which also covers oral sex. 

Section 377B of the Penal Code also makes it an offence for voluntarily 
committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature (which includes oral 
sex). 

Therefore I dare say more than half the cabinet would have committed this 
“crime” sometime in their lives. Let’s see them denying it by swearing on their 
respective holy books. 

How come we do not see such speedy investigations done when allegations of 
corrupt practices are made? 

So let’s not be hypocritical and say that the investigation is not politically 
motivated and purely criminal in nature. 

It really makes me sick to see what our country has come to.

TV an issue affecting all of us, we are now pulled by the hair back to the
ugly and sinister politics of 10 years ago.

If there was any hope that our political culture has progressed since the
national shame that was 1998, they were clearly dashed today. And if there
was any belief that those in power have understood the message of 8 March,
that too was dashed today.

Now we are back to the age of special taskforce dressed in balaclavas,
making arrests in tinted cars. Many accused PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim of
being a drama queen when he sought refuge at the Turkish Embassy. Today's
events have shown that they must have either been oblivious to or just
wilfully ignorant of the nefarious tactics that unfortunately remain part of
Malaysian politics.

It's no wonder that the credibility of the government is at an all-time low.
"No fuel hike until August" became a whopping 40% increase a day later.
Yesterday, Federal CID director chief Datuk Mohd Bakri Zinin had just said,
"We do not arrest anyone just because there is a report lodged against him
or her." Today, an hour before the 2pm deadline, it was clearly a different
story. It's also disturbing to note that Anwar's lawyer Sankara Nair claims
to have spoken to the investigation officer DSP Jude Pereira minutes before
the arrest. "We replied that we will be there at 2pm sharp," he said.

Clearly this is another attempt to create an atmosphere of instability in
the country. After Monday's traffic jam debacle in which the entire Klang
Valley was held hostage by roadblocks ordered by the Home Ministry, this is
a very disturbing trend. The political game has taken precedent over the
interests of the people and the nation at large.

Whatever your opinions about him, Anwar Ibrahim is no ordinary Malaysian. He
is a key opposition leader, an international statesman, and a potential
Prime Minister. It is incomprehensible that whoever ordered his arrest in
such a manner isn't aware of the consequences to Malaysia as a whole.
Unless, of course, that is precisely the point. If so, artificially creating
an atmosphere of impending emergency for political motives is utterly
irresponsible and should be condemned by all Malaysians.

Despite what some observers have claimed, I don't think Malaysians are tired
of political debate and discussion. Even revelations of misconduct and
corruption, I believe, are important to weed out the problems the country is
facing. What we're tired of is low-handed tactics masquerading as politics.
Anwar Ibrahim's arrest today is, to use that unfortunately overused
description, a black eye on Malaysia and an insult on all Malaysians. This
isn't 1998, and we must not allow ourselves to be dragged back in time for
the sake of the political interests of some.

JULY 16 - Arresting him was the easy part. And yet the police fumbled,
reaching for the sledgehammer approach and bringing back memories of 1998
when balaclava-clad police personnel stormed into Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's
home and arrested him.

Ten years ago, the police justified the hardball approach, saying that the
former deputy prime minister was a threat to national security, having just
led a massive demonstration in the heart of the city.

What's the excuse for stopping him at a junction near his home in Segambut,
bundling him into an unmarked vehicle by balaclava-clad men and then
speeding off to the KL police headquarters. The Opposition leader was on the
way home from a session with the Anti-Corruption Agency when he was picked
up.

The arrest came an hour before Anwar was scheduled to show up at the police
station to be interviewed by officers investigating a sodomy allegation
against him. On June 28, his former aide, Saiful Bukhary Azlan, alleged that
Anwar sodomised him in an apartment in Damansara.

Anwar is likely to be charged with going against the order of nature today
or tomorrow. He will be out on bail after that and will attempt to punch
holes in the prosecution' s case even before it reaches the court.

The Malaysian Insider understands that the police and Attorney-General' s
Chambers believe that they have a strong prima facie case against Anwar.

Their battery of evidence includes witness testimony, close-circuit
television footage and also DNA. Government officials, fearing a backlash
from the public, have repeatedly asked police officials and the AG's
Chambers to re-examine the evidence and be absolutely sure before even
contemplating arresting Anwar.

Kebanyakan penganut UMNO hadhari percaya kepada mitos teori kepimpinan negara 
ini adalah mengikut teori R.A.H.M.A.N. Siapakah yang men'design'kan ini 
tidaklah diketahui orangnya.

Kononnya ia diambil dari nama PM Malaysia yang pertama iaitu Tunku Abdul 
Rahman. Teori ini menjadi lebih nyata selepas berlaku pertukaran yang mengikut 
abjad tersebut dari satu PM ke satu PM. 





Selepas Mahathir dilantik menjadi PM Malaysia yang ke-4 yang telah menyaksikan 
Anwar berlatarbelakang pertubuhan islam iaitu ABIM dibawa masuk menganggotai 
parti UMNO. Kemasukan sosok Anwar telah mencemaskan banyak pemimpin-pemimpin 
veteran yang telah lama bertapak dalam parti tersebut yang juga bercita-cita 
menjadi PM.

Ketakutan pemimpin-pemimpin veteran dalam UMNO terserlah apalagi melihat 
ketokohan yang ada pada Anwar menenggelamkan tokoh-tokoh terkemuka tersebut 
apalagi pangkal namanya adalah huruf A bermakna selepas Mahathir tentulah Anwar 
akan menggantikannya.

Ketakutan tersebut menjadi nyata selepas Anwar dilantik menjadi pemangku PM 
telah mengusulkan satu rang undang-undang membanteras rasuah yang sudah lumrah 
menjadi hidangan pemimpin-pemimpin BN dan UMNO.

Maka oleh itu satu konspirasi mesti dibuat untuk mengenyahkan Anwar dari 
persada politik tanahair buat selama-lamanya. Untuk menjayakan konspirasi ini 
maka Mahathir sebagi PM dan ketua kabilah UMNO mesti diyakinkan bahawa Anwar 
akan menjatuhkan beliau dalam perhimpunan agung parti itu.

Pada mulanya Mahathir menolak untuk meluluskan konspirasi tersebut tetapi 
akhirnya terpaksa menerimanya juga setelah melihat kelantangan Anwar untuk 
merangka rang undang-undang membanteras rasuah dan mengecam 'bail-out' 
syarikat-syarikat yang rugi menggunakan wang rakyat.

Selepas konspirasi berjaya dan Anwar dihantar ke penjara Sg. Buloh dan kemudian 
pengganti Mahathir telah dinamakan iaitu Abdullah Badawi yang juga kebetulan 
mempunyai pangkal nama huruf A. Nampaknya mitos teori R.A.H.M.A.N hampir 
menjadi kenyataan bila Abdullah Badawi menamakan Najib sebagai penggantinya.

Walaupun begitu sosok tubuh pengacau iaitu Anwar Ibrahim kembali datang lagi 
untuk menggagalkan teori tersebut. Oleh itu sekali lagi konspirasi yang sama 
telah dibuat 10 tahun lalu akan diulang tayang sekali lagi tak kira rakyat suka 
atau tidak. Kali ini krisis kenaikan harga barang dan minyak menjadi agenda 
parti pembangkang yang diketuai Anwar dalam Pakatan Rakyat. Sekiranya mereka 
berjaya membentuk kerajaan mereka akan menurunkan harga minyak keesokan harinya.

Jelaslah disini DSAI adalah pengacau teori kepimpinan UMNO dan Malaysia yang 
mesti dihapuskan tidak kira berapa kosnya. Walaupun begitu DSAI telah 
menyatakan dirinya tidak penting tetapi kebajikan rakyat adalah diutamakan tak 
kira siapa yang jadi PM Malaysia selepas ini.

Kita saksikan adakah teori ini masih relevan. Siapakah selepas DS Abdullah 
Badawi yang akan menjadi PM.

Anwar calls for calm

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 - Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was arrested this
afternoon, has called on his supporters to remain calm and not to react to
any provocation, which could lead to a state of Emergency being declared.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali who read out a
statement at a press conference at the party's headquarters here this
afternoon said Anwar's message was conveyed through his lawyers Sankara Nair
and R. Sivarasa.

He said that he had received phone calls from PKR division leaders and party
members who wanted serious actions to be taken.

However when asked whether the party would resort to street demonstrations,
Syed Husin said it would only be decided when it was deemed appropriate.

"We will not be provoked," he added.

PKR secretary-general Datuk Sallehuddin Hashim said there had been no
directive from the party leaders to organise such demonstrations.

An unsigned SMS alert has been making the rounds calling for people to
gather at a candle light vigil in front of the Kuala Lumpur police
headquarters at Jalan Hang Tuah at 8.30pm tonight.

At 12.55 pm, outside his house. He was due to give a statement to the police
at 2.00 pm.

We should remain calm and await further developments. From media reports, it
would seem that Anwar Ibrahim was prepared for this and has lawyers at the
ready. If he is being arrested in connection with the alleged sodomy, then
he should be brought before a magistrate within 24 hours and be charged
unless a remand order is obtained to allow for further investigation. The
offence is bailable and I see no reasonable basis for bail being refused.

The authorities must take every care to ensure that nothing untoward occurs.
We in turn should not be reactionary.

This afternoon at 1:05 PM Anwar Ibrahim, former Deputy Prime Minister of
Malaysia, was arrested outside of his home in Kuala Lumpur. He was due to
issue a statement at IPK KL (Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters) at
2:00 PM based on an agreement reached with the police on Tuesday.

Anwar Ibrahim was returning from the Anti Corruption Agency to his home
after giving a statement pertaining to the police report that has been filed
regarding suppression of material facts in the case involving him in 1998.
He was accompanied by his senior legal team, staff, and security.

As he entered the neighborhood of his home, a contingent of ten police cars,
half unmarked and half patrol, forced the two cars in Anwar Ibrahim's
entourage to stop. There was a contingent of 20 balaklava-clad masked
commandos (UTK) who accosted him, reminiscent of the forces sent to arrest
Anwar Ibrahim at his home in September 1998.

An officer approached Anwar Ibrahim and demanded that he accompany the
police in an unmarked vehicle to the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent
Headquarters. His lawyers were not permitted to travel with him to the
police station.

This arrest has taken place less than fifteen hours after Anwar Ibrahim
appeared live on Malaysian television for the first time since 1998 and
announced to millions of viewers his intention to stand for election, and
upon the formation of a new government, to lower the domestic price of fuel
by 50 sen. The overwhelming majority of Malaysians expressed their support
of his televised statement.

These events are deeply disturbing to us and indicate that this entire
episode is a repeat of the actions taken against Anwar Ibrahim in 1998.
During the last few weeks the government owned mainstream media has
demonized and vilified him. His staff has been harassed and we see a
conspiracy being hatched to thwart the political change that is imminent in
Malaysia.

Under no circumstances will the people of Malaysia and the international
community tolerate any harm coming to Anwar Ibrahim. We remind Prime
Minister Abdullah Badawi of the promise he made to ensure Anwar Ibrahim's
protection.

We have been able to communicate with Anwar Ibrahim, who calls upon his
supporters and the people of Malaysia to remain calm and to reject

Angkatan Muda Keadilan Malaysia (AMK) menyelar tindakan kerajaan Umno-BN yang 
bertindak menyalahgunakan pihak polis untuk melakukan sekatan jalanraya 
sehingga mengakibatkan kesesakan jalanraya yang parah di ibu kota Kuala Lumpur 
semalam.
Apa yang dikesalkan ialah kegagalan pihak kerajaan khususnya Kementerian Dalam 
Negeri untuk memberikan justifikasi jelas mengenai kesahihan maklumat bahawa 
wujudnya 'ura-ura' perhimpunan haram akan diadakan di kawasan Parlimen semalam. 
AMK ingin mengulangi penegasan Pakatan Rakyat bahawa tidak ada sebarang 
perancangan mahupun usaha untuk merancang sebarang bentuk perhimpunan aman di 
mana-mana kawasan di Malaysia semalam.
Keengganan dan kegagalan tiga pihak, iaitu Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz (Menteri di 
JPM) , Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar (Menteri Dalam Negeri) dan Tan Sri Pandikar 
Amin Mulia (Speaker Dewan Rakyat) untuk memberi penjelasan kepada Ahli-Ahli 
Parlimen Pakatan Rakyat khasnya dan rakyat Malaysia umumnya memberi gambaran 
jelas bahawa apa yang berlaku semalam hanyalah usaha untuk mewujudkan keadaan 
huru-hara dan mendera rakyat. Apa yang pasti, tindakan keterlaluan ini berlaku 
disebabkan kerajaan paranoid dengan Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim yang dijadualkan 
hadir ke Parlimen semalam.
Ini sekaligus membuktikan bahawa pengaruh Dato' Seri Anwar semakin menebal di 
kalangan rakyat sehinggakan kerajaan BN sanggup mengerah segenap lapisan 
anggota polis berkawal semata-mata dengan tujuan untuk menafikan kehadiran 
Dato' Seri Anwar bersama para wakil rakyat dan juga rakyat di Parlimen. Adalah 
lebih afdhal sekiranya bilangan anggota polis yang mencecah ratusan itu dikerah 
untuk membanteras jenayah dan menjejaki adik Sharlinie atau adik Asmawi yang 
sehingga kini tidak dijumpai.
Sikap 'paranoid' kerajaan ini menggambarkan bahawa betapa Umno-BN sudah semakin 
sampai ke penghujung kareer politik mereka di sebalik pelbagai taktik dangkal 
dan menyusahkan rakyat yang semakin memburukkan imej mereka di mata rakyat.
AMK menyeru rakyat agar menguatkan tekad untuk terus menyatakan sokongan pada 
kepada Pakatan Rakyat agar kita lebih bersedia untuk memimpin Malaysia ke satu 
tahap yang lebih baik bila-bila masa daripada sekarang.
