Amigo DXista Robert!

Thanks for the ID. I have been trying to get a positive ID for a long time.
Churchmeeting in Juliaca and many ads from the same city but no IDs. It´s a
"hard-to-ID"-station because of the very low modulated signal. I have the station
between 5005.70 to 5005.75 kHz.
Now Robert you can try the unIDs on 5005.34 and 5006.00 kHz!

The tsar didn't jam during the 1880s either. During both periods, there was no
significant amount of international broadcasting to the Russian Federation.

Not quite yet; Novaya Stalin-ochka isn't going to make her run for the presidency
until 2004. And exactly what is it that the US would jam now?

Indeed. We wouldn't want the peasants and workers hearing things that aren't useful,
would we?

[HCDX] USSR in 1920s and 1930s did not jam -- USA politically is approaching USSR after WWII, jamming is not geopolitiacally impossible...

2003-09-17 Thread mhev
USSR in 1920s and 1930s did not jam; yet the USSR became the most
significant jammer for nearly 50 years.

The USA politically is approaching USSR after WWII, so jamming is not
geopolitiacally impossible...

Past good behavior does not indicate future good behavior when 'oscillatory
antagonism' (the prelude to war) is a possibility.

I am not against jamming, per se -- but its usefulness is made possible by a
very narrow set of conditions.
When these conditions cease -- the need for jamming ceases.

I specifically have been amazed that these have not been jammed (notice US
origins of some)

SATCOM:-

XM
Sirus
-- End of Sat Radio section

DirectTV
Echostar
CNN internal feeds (or to cable systems)
MSNBC internal feeds (or to cable systems)

US Export Film Channels to ASIA

==

It is possible to be a very influential world broadcaster and not be jammed.
RFI has never been jammed in its entire history, even Radio Canada
International can't make that claim.
RNZI has never been jammed && Radio Australia has never been jammed.

In my proposal to the Canadian PM for the expansion of RCI, depending on how
it is implemented is borderline between RFI's model what the Radio Australia
would be doing (if it had any further interest in the target areas and
languages that I propose)...

You can design your own relay station

http://www.elbert.its.bldrdoc.gov/pc_hf/hfwin32.html

Problems to solve:

1. Getting 50 to 60 dbm into the target area.
2. Not putting to much EME into the oceans (Pacific Ocean Broadcasting
Exemption!)
3. Evenly saturating the target area, if you can.

etc ...

[HCDX] Radio Galkayo???

2003-09-17 Thread bjorn fransson
Hi all,
This evening, Sep 17th, I listened at 17.30 on 7335v kHz and found a station
which I think (hope!) is Radio Galkayo, the Puntland Somali radio!
Unfortunately the reception wasn't too good with splash from i e BBC, but I
could record some talk and two songs that I knew the titles of. A tentative
report has been sent to Sam Voron and the station, so hopefully they can
confirm if it was - or if it wasn't - their station I heard. If not: What
was it then? The strength improved untill BBC time signal started at
17.58.30 and when BBC started with an interval song it was wiped out. Maybe
it also closed half a minute before the hour??? Thrilling thoughts for me
anyway!

---
Tuned into Voice-Hindi today evening @ 1530 UTC to find out that
the freq has been changed from 13635 khz to 9880 khz.
They are having continious announcements reg change of the
freq on their older freq 13635 khz , regualr programming
continues on new freq 9880 khz.
Seems like this change is effective for the time period - 1100 to 1700 UTC.
