2014-04-10 Thread Charles
Indonesia, 4749.959, RRI Makassar, Suawesi, 1049-1110, At tune in noted a
weak signal revealing

just music off and on between fading. At 1052 a female comments briefly in
Indonesian Language.

A few minutes of dead air or total fade out follows until 1056 when music is
heard again but only

for a moment or two. Noise smothers the signal enough to block any further
details, but the

carrier is still observed in the Excalibur's presentation. At 1100 music
is heard again using

AMS mode. Previously LSB was helpful in hearing the signal. Finally by
1106 the signal seemed

to fade enough to discourage further monitoring. Overall it was threshold.

presentation

is showing a fair signal. It just depends on how I tune the presentation.
Unfortunately,

I am stuck with what I get from the audio.(Chuck Bolland, February 27, 2014)

Peru, 4775.00, Radio Tarma, 0124-0128*, At tune in, noted a live soccer
game being

announced by a signal male using an echo effect process. It sounds exciting
as

he gets into the details rather enthusiastically. At 0128 the signal drops
off the air.

A second signal that is much weaker shows itself on 4774.897KHz. Tarma was
at

a fair level while it was on the air. (Chuck Bolland, February 27, 2014)

RUSSIA 13665.000 Rossii SW outlet from Moscow still disturbed in audio
quality today at 1240 UT Oct 12. This faulty audio last at least for past
2-3 weeks now!

But TX outlet is strong even exact at x.000 kHz.

Suffers by some strange audio tone companion of 97 Hertz peaks on browser
screen, counted approx 44 peaks, i.e. 22 peaks ore more on each sideband.

Signal of 265 deg azimuth out of Moscow for Rossii is always strong here in
Germany, like S=9+35dB at least.

Similar 97 Hertz BUZZ tone also heard on 9480.000 kHz at 1330 UT Oct 12.

2010-06-30 Thread Charles Bolland
Zimbabwe, 3396, Radio Zimbabwe, 0020-0050, R. Zimbabwe
revisted. Checked back after the
hour and the audio was fading in a little better, but
still very, very weak. And they were
still presenting music. At 0044 the signal is getting
better. Now it's up to a threshold. Making
some headway here. Decided to drop it at 0050.

2010-04-08 Thread Charles Bolland
Bolivia, 6134.810, Radio Santa Cruz, 0935-1000, Noted
a male in news until 0941,
with many mentions of Lima and Bolivia. At 0942,
music presented. Signal this
morning is fair, but not as readable as it was
yesterday? What's the difference I
wonder? I am using the same receiver and antenna.
Haven't checked the condition
numbers from WWV. Maybe there's an answer there?
Anyway, as the time got closer
to the hour mark, the signal seemed to improve
somewhat. (Chuck Bolland, April 8, 2010)

Bolivia, 6155.25, Radio Fides, 0950-1000, At present
only Fides is on 6155.25 plus or minus
five KHz, so there's interference blocking the signal.
Noted a female fading in and out with
Spanish language comments. Fides' signal is very poor
however. (Chuck Bolland,
April 08, 2010)

Peru, 6173.86, Radio Tawantinsuyo, 0955-1005, Noted a
very weak signal here. No
details were gleaned because of the interference on
both sides of Tawantinsuyo;
however, the station is holding this freq against the
likes of WYFR on 6175.(Chuck
Bolland, April 8, 2010)

Peru, 4950.03, Radio Madre De Dios,Tent, 1025-1035,
Noted a threshold signal here.
Almost impossible to hear audio, but once in awhile it
sneaks in with music.
Signal was very threshold. (Chuck Bolland, April 8,
2010)

2010-03-04 Thread Charles Bolland
Peru, 4775, Radio Tarma, 1030-1045, Noted a carrier
here which eventually started fading in well enough

to produce some audio. With the audio, I noticed
Huaynos type music being presented. Signal seemed

to peak around 1044 UTC with a good signal. Previously
it was poor. (Chuck Bolland, March 4, 2010)

Indonesia, 4749.89, RRI Makassar, 1053-1105, At tune
in, noted a male in brief Indonesian comments,

followed immediately by music. At 1059 more comments
by the male briefly then news from a female.

Signal was poor. (Chuck Bolland, March 4, 2010)

2009-07-23 Thread ka4prf
Peru, 5039.18, Radio Libertad, 1039-1115, Don't know if I was having
antenna problems or a shortwave fadeout, but accidentally tuned
to this freq and noted Libertad with a fair signal while a male was in
Spanish comments between music. This was totally unexpected because Rebelde
just 14 KHz lower was very weak when I tune there (5025KHz) a few seconds
earlier. I usually have just a weak carrier and weaker audio from Libertad.
At 1049, Libertad's signal improves to a good level. It's getting scary
here all of the sudden. The sun is high on the horizon now and I am being
blasted by a Peruvian station. It's nice! Signal dropped to threshold by
1115.(Chuck Bolland, July 23, 2009)

Note: The signal improvement from 1049 only lasted a couple of minutes. I
dropped Libertad and scanned a few Peruvian and

Bolivian frequencies at that time- La Voz de la Selva, Radio Sicuani, and
Radio Maranon - and noted a similar improvement, but by 1053 the signals had
all dropped to fair or poor. I figured Bolivia's Radio Logos might be
fading in too, but I only heard a Brazilian on 4865.10 KHz. Maybe I am
exaggerating this phenomena because I am usually walking my dogs around the
block at this time and leave the radio alone. Consequently, I miss any
brief openings that might occur after sunrise here in Montura Ranch Estates.

This morning however, I left my receiver tuned to 4835.40 KHz as I typed
the above and at 1108, Radio Maranon faded back in from being nil heard to a
fair level. I am seriously thinking about changing my exercise routine to a
different time at least for one or two days during the week. I have too
many early morning responsibilities to make it a regular change however.

At 1115 Radio Maranon is still at a fair level. I checked the higher band
of 9 megs for a minute just to see what it was doing? I could not hear
anything on 9680 KHz where RRI Jakarta is usually booming in, and
Radio Australia on 9580 KHz was not at the armchair quality I usually have
for it either. There is definitely something strange going on this
morning?

At 1121 I went to recheck Radio Libertad on 5039.18 KHz and still heard it,
but the signal was now threshold. Still on 4835.41 KHz, Radio Maranon was
readable at a fair level; but I could tell there wasn't going to be much
more signal left in a few minutes. The noise was increasing and Maranon's
signal was being gobbled up by it. So I decided to secure the receiver and
take my dogs for their walk.
