[Hardhats-members] == Sorry, all activity on this volume set is being halted! Try again later.

2005-07-14 Thread Anna Joseph

In the process of patching a KID file to VistA, I
sucessfully loaded the KID file, butwhen iran the installation
option, it gave me the alert messaage(..."VA to see alerts...) Since then
whenever i try to run the KERNEL INSTALLATION DISTRIBU XPD
MAIN Kernel Installation Distribution System
option(Or for that matter any VistA option), this is what i get to
see:

"== Sorry, all activity on this volume
set is being halted! Try again later." (this is what i
saw when i did the "VA also)

i randown the server later and when i did the
startup again, the samemessage is seen. even if i log in as another user
orrun otheroptions, i see this message.

Any suggestions???

Anna

Why didn't I think of that? Anyway, did you have a KIDS install
terminate abnormally?

Thanks, That works!
but then what was the issue? I mean every time that
there is an error in patching, the volume set is brought to a stand still? guess
there's something I'm missing out?

I don't know if I've ever encountered that problem (certainly not often). Anyway, KIDS asks you if logins should be inhibited, you don't have to say yes. When installing patches on a system where you are tho sole user, it's not that big an issue, but remember that the normal case is a live multi-user system. Generally, the patch documentation will warn you about special cases (like infrastructure patches, which can update critical files), but for most application modules, it's only important that no one try to use the option while it is being updated. ===Gregory Woodhouse[EMAIL PROTECTED]"Design quality doesn't ensure success, but design failure can ensure failure."--Kent Beck On Jul 14, 2005, at 7:47 PM, Anna Joseph wrote:Thanks, That works!but then what was the issue? I have always said yes and got away without any
problem! This was the first time i encountered
this situation.Andto my surprise, when I re-installed the same
KID file with theinhibit loginsset to 'yes' there was no
problem! and its working fine!
