Re: [H] LCD interfering with wireless keyboard?
Brian, Thanks for that. Me, personally, I'd be looking at the kbd/mouse business if they are that old. In the last 3-4 years an awful lot of 'stuff' has taken place/change/matured/whatever. I will now risk a suggestion that your current kbd/mouse just don't care for the new panel. Keep the panel at all costs! There just have to be newer wireless kbd/mouse combos available... Just a thought. And, JMHO. Best, Duncan At 20:59 03/26/2008 -0400, you wrote: It is plugged directly into the case, no KVM here. It is sort of old...maybe 3-4 years back. Re: [H] LCD interfering with wireless keyboard?
Brian, Do you plug/run your kbd/mouse/display into a KVM device? If yes, try wiring the kbd/mouse direct to the PC. If not, Yes I would suggest that you need to speak with Samsung. From your description, this problem started with the new panel! Bummer..(I still lust for a Samsung!) And, there could be other spec-BS going on here also! Like, how old (really!) is you wireless kbd/mouse combo. If it was early wireless (you were an "early adoptor"), it may just NOT be filtered well enough to deal with the 'still maturing' flat panels screens. I'm not dealing specs. I am only trying to recall all your past updates/tweaks from when you were in CO :) Best, Duncan At 16:05 03/26/2008 -0400, you wrote: My inclination is to suspect the monitor. Re: [H] LCD interfering with wireless keyboard?
I'm just using a wireless keyboard with a wired mouse. I have tried swapping the batteries twice and it makes no difference. The effect is solely based on distance between the keyboard (or receiver) and the monitor. I hope the monitor isn't defective. I haven't had a chance to call Samsung yet. - Brian Weeden Technical Consultant Secure World Foundation On Wed, Mar 26, 2008 at 1:25 PM, j maccraw <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > IIRC the Logitech wireless is in the 20 or 40Mhz range > while BT is 2GHz+ so I'd doubt > it would affect both the same way. > > Could it be that the LCD has a bad inverter? Re: [H] LCD interfering with wireless keyboard?
I would assume the problem is with the monitor rather than the keyboard/mouse. I have a Logitech Cordless Desktop Pro and on the back it says: "Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference and (2) This device must accept any interference received. Including interference that may cause undesired operation." Seems a rather curious statement. However, your keyboard may indeed be faulty. - Original Message - From: "Jeff Lane" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Wednesday, March 26, 2008 12:34 PM Subject: Re: [H] LCD interfering with wireless keyboard? Re: [H] LCD interfering with wireless keyboard?
IIRC the Logitech wireless is in the 20 or 40Mhz range while BT is 2GHz+ so I'd doubt it would affect both the same way. Could it be that the LCD has a bad inverter? Have you tried moving the base radio nearer and/or so that the LCD is not between it & the kb/mouse? How about new batteries? Make sure mouse & KB are no on same channel? I run both a old Logitech MX wireless & a DiNovo BT with any perceived interference from three 17" LCD's. Outside of lag in gaming only trouble I've had with the MX is low batteries or sharing same channel. Brian Weeden wrote: > I just upgraded from a 19" CRT to a wonderful new Samsung 24" LCD. COX is likely hijacking your SMTP session! Try using telnetting to the SMTP & do the email by hand, bet you'll be surprised who's SMTP server answers! You might be able to get around this by using the other SMTP port # which I don't have in front of me. If you contact GoDaddy I'll be they have such a port setup & will give you the info. I'd switch to gmail for list mail if you are having inbound issues because Y! & HM both charge for SMTP/POP3 access and webmail is evil incarnate!
