Ok, I'll give this a try my 'typical' line always went like:

xcopy d:\*.* c:\olddrive\*.* /r /i /c /h /k /e /y

Where D is the customers old drive from the old system which i want
to archive for them and C: is the new drive and 'olddrive' is the dir
I want to archive that old data in. I'll give your line a shot.

Thanks.

Thanks, I may check into this. Again, I just wanted to use what was
native to windows (xp). I hope I can find a solution as I am seeing
more and more XP systems aging and getting upgraded to newer
systems. Before I was copying 98 to Win2K or XP or 2K to XP - it was
always older to newer. Now it's XP to XP and herein the issue may be.

Regarding x48 vs x38, indeed. The Intel retail X38 successor to badaxe2,
DX38BT, is the EXACT same layout of their upcoming X48 board, DX48BT2. In fact,
they share the same BIOS.

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3208&p=1

We would be delinquent in not noting the impending release of the
Rampage Formula's DDR3-based companion, the Rampage Extreme. We
anxiously await our chance to bring you an early first-look at what it
has to offer. We fully expect that it will best even the most refined
X48/DDR2 board. Our experience has always been that the X38/X48 chipsets
simply work better when teamed with DDR3 memory.

http://techreport.com/articles.x/14316

Intel's Core 2 Extreme QX9770 is due out this quarter, bringing with it
not only four Penryn cores clocked at 3.2GHz, but also a front-side bus
running at 1600MHz.

Based on Intel's existing X38 Express, the X48 brings with it official
support for 1600MHz front-side bus speeds. With this faster bus, the X48
looks poised to supplant its predecessor atop Intel's chipset lineup,
which means a new wave of motherboards is coming from all the usual
suspects

Despite falling DDR3 prices, the fact that the bottom has essentially
dropped out of the DDR2 memory market makes for a tough sell. DDR3 is
undoubtedly the future, but when you can get 2GB of DDR2 for less than
$50, paying more than four times the price for DDR3 is difficult—if not
impossible—to justify rationally.

It all comes down to the size of your wallet.

Al

I just got the IX38 Quad board and love it:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127033&Tpk=ix38

Doesn't do DDR3 but then again I don't plan on using that for a while yet.
Not really sure what the benefit of DDR3 is other than to impress your
friends. But the board does have a ton of nice extra features, like really
good fan speed control from with in the BIOS (CPU + SYS + 3 AUX fans and can
have 2 separate groups tied to different temp references). Also has a nice
little button on the back that allows you to clear the CMOS without opening
the case, along with power on and reset buttons on the mobo itself for
testing and setup purposes. And you can flash the BIOS / overclock from
within windows via a little GUI. Guess that really shows how far it has
come from the days when we were taking soldering guns to CPUs trying to fry
the clock lock.

I guess I was just really impressed by all little improvements that have
come along in the last couple years - I haven't bought a new mobo since the
nForce 4 that this one replaced.

Lack of spaces between switches is not a syntax error!
XCopy itself lists the
switches as having spaces.

"xcopy C:\ D:\ /r /i /c /h /k /e /y /s /o /n"

Should copy all of C: to D: including ownership & ACLs
with original short names.

Sorry if this is a resend, but I didn't see this come through and the

There is a web-based MMORPG football game - I've been fiddling around
with it, and it's very cool - you can purchase a team or just set up
players - the games play every two days, and you can watch a
simulated game (basic video but still pretty cool.)

It's in beta right now, and free.

If this seems interesting, please use this link:

I'll get more flex points so I can upgrade my guys.

If you are interested in setting up a player and joining my team,
just message tsherr once you create a player.

NTFS all around, so 4gb shouldn't be an issue. The drive I am copying
is another HDD from the clients old computer. I take that old drive,
place it in the new system temporarily, just to copy the data so the
client will have it on the new system, it's purely for archival
purposes. Once I am done, I take the old drive back out and place it
in the clients old system.

None of this is native to Windows - you have to have Acronis loaded
and I don't want to do this if I can avoid it. Especially since I

Because I don't want an image and if it does work that way (Drag and

be fine except I don't want to have to install Acronis on every new
