Re: [H] DSL modems
John, Thank you. I do not do wireless at all. I remain prehistoric. I'm sure this violates my TOS, but I was not willing to put my entire lan on the subnet of the modem (192.168.2.x). And yes, I do use a router for my lan. The router is my firewall. OK. Have I missed some subtle setting in the modem? I am willing to go through the task of "speaking" to the modem and either re-train it, or, beat it into submission..again?.. :) Other than this, are there other (3d party) dsl modems I can look at to replace what I think is a real brick on my lan? Ben, OK. I'm chicken! Have not done the 1-800 route yet. Perhaps tomorrow. I'm just too stewed ATM the moment. Gotten tired of the many Disconnect/Reconnect cycles at the router. Until I spend $$ proving my home is not a possibility, I have little solid ground for the initial 1-800 phone call..or did I miss something else? Well, surely I have :) And why I asked. Re: [H] Eudora 8
OK. That is a nice report. But, can/could you pick up stuff from Eudora to the new "skin?" Or, is there facility to do this? I was tremendously impressed with FF just going in and grabbing what it found 'necessary' from IE! Damn, it came up ready to fully Rock&Roll.! Really impressive; and, why I will now stay with FF. Hell, I did need a new task to learn anyway.. :) Best, Duncan At 16:31 07/30/2008 -0300, you wrote: At 04:19 PM 30/07/2008, DHSinclair wrote: Interesting. Not certain how to read the page though. Thanks Thane, Duncan It looks (from the quick look I had after installing) that's basically Thunderbird with a Eudora skin on it. Sort of cool. T

Re: [H] Opinion
I too went with an Apple Airport Extreme about a year ago and love it. Seems to be much more stable than the procession of Netgear/D-link routers that preceded it in my household. The main reason I got it was for iChat - there were so many darn ports to forward to get the audio and video working on my wife's Macbook that it was just simpler to buy the Apple router and it's one click to enable that service.
