[H] CDPlayer in XP?

2009-03-06 Thread DHSinclair
I know that XP does NOT have the old CDPlayer (cdplayer.exe). I miss it,
got used to it, ?

I know that XP focuses on WMP.I do not care for WMP much.

OK, so I find that I can go to my one remaining W2K machine and borrow
(copy) cdplayer.exe and drop this file into my XP/Win%/System32/ directory;
and have my CDPlayer back..well, sort of?

What other steps/routines do I need to do in XP to accept and stitch in the
old W2K application?

My bug is that whenever I start CDPlayer, I get the player, but I also get
another "ghost" player console w/o any controls. I can NOT even
close/erase the "ghost."
I will believe that I need to TELL XP something, somewhere...I
suspect a registry key, but have not yet found same..

Suggestions, opinions, ideas..welcome.
Best,
Duncan

heatsink/fan, ram, and necessary I/O adapters. No bad caps so
farThere might just come a time.

I had a BH-6 and a Celeron 300a. Goodbye Abit (for the 2nd time) and
thanks for the great memories. :-(
