And the same issue exists in Vista SP1. From what I've read real quick, it
looks like the delay isn't to fix SP3, but rather to put filtering in place
on MU/WU to prevent automatic deployment to those users running GP RMS. The
SP itself will not be modified, it seems.

I very much doubt that the issue is anything more than what MS has indicated
it is.

I deployed SP3 to 9 machines at work...they're fairly low end
demo/presentation systems...no issues, but they don't do much beyond running
IE, and it was a new, clean install.

I downloaded SP3 this morning from Microsoft at

I just checked and this link still works. (If this link gets broken,
please recombine it.)

I don't know if it's the final final.

Runs fine. (Don't use it much.)

While the setup program is backing up my old files,
it goes to the c:\windows\system32 directory and can't find a file.
I open WinExplorer and there it sits... daxctle.ocx

Why do you suppose it can't find it?

I did all that before I heard they screwed it up...

From: JRS It's been delayed due to a last minute glitch, an incompatibility

thanks, after some more homework I do not think I will have a problem, not
running the suspect sw and will be a clean install.

I hope the sp does not change.

Darn, I'll have to look into this more...
[ just did...]

When I D/L I get the file date and time from the info on the server.
It says 4/26/2008 2:50PM (I got it today, 4/29.)
2/3rds of the files in the archive are dated in 4/08 and lots are
dated 4/13 and over half are 4/14/2008.
Sounds like the whole thing was finished up in the last two weeks...

I don't want to sound like I don't believe you, but could you give
me the link you used?Thanks,

I did a fresh install with a slipstreamed SP3 and my machine that saw 3.5G
before only sees 2G now.
I tried /PAE and /3GB in boot.ini with no luck :(

Don't worry, it's final. The KB article itself just hasn't been updated yet
to reflect the final bits. Same thing happened for Vista SP1.

The TechNet version is the same.

Tried to install XP3 and I got a windows error dialogue box saying Access
denied It came after the files were unpacked and checking configuration
then starting the install.
I tried two different files from different sources. I turned off firewall
and BitDefender and just about everything else to get it to go and same
message each time.
