Re: [H] remote softare
I think that begs the question...what are the real requirements? I could see there perhaps being different solutions for different needs--basic remote admin vs. remote assistance vs. remote console (think IMPI/DRAC/iLO) vs. working from home/teleworker, etc. Frankly, excluding the obvious remote KVM, I'm a huge fan of RDP. One little tweak makes already great performance even better, and the multiple monitor support available with W7/2K8 R2 (NOT the same as "span" mode) is truly spectacular when teleworking. As an admin, I like the fact that it's built into Windows (all server and client business/pro or better) and controllable via group policy. But, it certainly isn't the best solution for all remote needs. thanks, I will give VNC a try At 05:40 PM 8/22/2010, you wrote: I use both remote desktop (built-in) and ul...@vnc I like the file transfer capability of u...@vnc and the ability to copy and paste text back and forth between local and remote boxes. No chance of malware to work machines this way, and limited user rights for them) lopaka From: Winterlight To: hardware@hardwaregroup.com Sent: Sun, August 22, 2010 3:36:38 PM Subject: [H] remote softare There is lots of different remote software available, and a lot of it is free.
