RE: RDA Testing

2010-05-27 Thread Biella, Joan
Well, when they said RDA would be available "in June," I guess people here
decided that if that meant June 1, they would be ready!! Of course, it clearly
doesn't mean June 1 as we seem to know now (I suppose they COULD spring it on
us next Tuesday), but we're starting the training anyway.

I wonder if it will be in June at all??

I'm an RDA tester at LC--will begin training (at least introduction to RDA
Toolkit) tomorrow, with lots more to come. Of course I'll report anything that
seems useful and/or pertinent to us to the group, but truly useful things may
not come up till after the three months of "training" which precede the three
months of actual "testing," which are to begin in October. (And don't forget
that the official position is that LC may not adopt RDA in the end ... the
future is shrouded in mystery, as always.)

Heb-NACOers,

I know that some of your institutions are doing RDA testing. Are any of you
going to be personally involved? It will be interesting to hear how it works
with Hebrew script. I’m sure that those of us who are not testing would love to
hear reports (very unofficial, of course!).

Re: RDA Testing

2010-05-25 Thread Heidi G Lerner
Stanford will be testing "officially" and all "origiinal" catalogers will be
working with materials of the same type as their regular workflow. So I assume
that I will be using Hebrew materials as part of my "assignmen." As of now I
have no real details.
