Re: editor hosed?

2009-02-04 Thread Ivan

To all,

My sincerest apologies if I told you it was working before. The editor
is run across several systems and there was one that was misbehaving.
This system has been corrected and the editor should now be working
for all.

If you are still having issues, please send an email with your app
name to feedb...@heroku.com.

Thanks,

New Changes

2009-01-16 Thread Ivan

As you may know, there are some exciting changes happening at Heroku:
http://blog.heroku.com/archives/2009/1/12/whats_up_at_heroku/

As part of these changes, last night we moved all of the Heroku beta
apps to a new domain, herokugarden.com. Any apps which were part of
our first version private beta now live at herokugarden.com. Apps
created or renamed after today will also live at herokugarden.com.

=== Where to Login

You will no longer be able to login to heroku.com. Login to
herokugarden.com instead:
http://herokugarden.com/login

=== Update Links  Bookmarks

Apps that were located at
appname.heroku.com

Are now located at
appname.herokugarden.com

For the next 30 days, inbound requests for appname.heroku.com will be
served a redirect (301 permanently moved) to appname.herokugarden.com.
During this period, bookmarks and other inbound links should be
updated.

=== Update Gem and Git Repos

If you use git or the heroku gem/command line tools, you will need to
update the gem and your local git checkouts.

=== More Information

Detailed information is available here:
http://herokugarden.com/transition

=== Troubleshooting

We have just made this transition over the last 12 hours. Several
parts of the system will still be updating throughout the day today,
and some apps or user accounts may become unavailable while this
transition is completed.

Some common questions are answered in our transition FAQ:
http://herokugarden.com/transition/faq

Thanks for your patience while we make these important improvements to
the platform, and thanks for participating in the Heroku beta! We've
got some great stuff in store for you over the coming months...

Very best,

The Heroku Team

Re: Server failing to start

Nate,

Your app, blacksky, is currently set to private. This requires that
you login to Heroku before you can view the app.

If you want the general public to able to view the site, you need to

Re: With OR without the www in my domain name?

At the moment, Heroku only supports one custom domain per application.
What this means is that you can only redirect domain.com OR www.domain.com

configured as a CNAME to heroku.com.

I will forward this as a feature request to the developers and product

the virtual instance is re-allocated, the code is started, and so forth.
I've noticed it on my apps, too.

Admittedly, such a long latency for that first request is pretty bad, but I
can't blame them for turning my app off if nobody's used it in an hour.

Also, is your app running in development mode or in production mode?  I

From purely anecdotal experience, it seems like this is happening when
the app hasn't been contacted for a few hours, and then on the first
request after this dormancy, it will take a long time to start.  The
second request will go much faster.

Since I rely on these apps having a 10s response time (which is
fairly reasonable for 2 SQL queries per request) because I contact
them via API, I was wondering if you guys had any advise.

I could obviously just keep pinging my apps every hour, but this seems

Re: getaddrinfo Name or service not known

2009-01-08 Thread Ivan

Right now, Heroku does not relay SMTP messages but we do allow
outbound SMTP connections.

What this means is that you need to set the SMTP hostname with the
server you want to use for relaying messages. In other words, replace
request.host in def notify(user) with the hostname or address of a
valid SMTP server. One example of doing that using GMail can be found
here:

http://www.danielfischer.com/2008/01/09/how-to-use-gmail-as-your-mail-server-for-rails/

Yes, it seems that the app was reset. I am working on pulling up the
last files posted to the app in order restore it.

I can't pull up any pages other than the Welcome Aboard. Still get the 504
error. Edit seems to be back though.

Re: 504 Gateway Timeout

2008-10-07 Thread Ivan

As with any beta, there are bugs - fewer and fewer every day.

We had a routing issue and correcting that may have caused the data
loss.

Glad you are enjoying the service!

Great! It is up. Hmmm looks like some data loss. Oh well, I still

 Thanks Ivan.

Do we know what caused this?

Re: No will_paginate gem?

2008-04-23 Thread Ivan

I will try to explain,

go to the edit view, at the vendor folder you will find the
GemsPlugins Item , now switch to Available in the dropdown Box and
search for will_paginate. After a few seconds you see the result and
can install the plugin. Heroku will do the rest for you. After it is
installed you can use it as usual.

Excuse my bad english, its not my mother tounge.

On 23 Apr., 14:00, mikong [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
How come I can't find the will_paginate gem in Heroku?

I understand that since we are just extracting the source to the
vendor directory, might as well use a plugin right?

Unfortunately, the will_paginate README says the plugin will no longer
be updated and we should use the gem instead.
