[hlds] TF2 Quickplay Issue

2012-07-14 Thread Devin O'Malley
Hey all,

I don't often post here, but this time I felt it was important. I help
managed some TF2 servers, but I notice that as of late Quickplay has become
less reliable. It disconnects more often, and sometimes even requires a
server reboot to fix. More importantly, since the most recent updates on
the 11th and 13th of July, Quickplay no longer fills the server. It works
up until around 16-19 players, and then it dies out without helping the
server reach 21-24 (the server maximums). Has anyone else noticed this?

Is there any way to check if it is actually working?

Thank you for your time,

2012-07-14 Thread Cameron Munroe
My servers don't apply for quickplay connects, but we have been having
issues with disconnects from quickplay for awhile. I think in all likely
hood that the quickplay management servers are simply overloaded with
traffic and are dropping clients/servers. It is also likely that it also
what handles TF2 Trading which might explain some of the issues, but I
have no idea on the inter workings of valve so I might be just as easily
wrong.

Re: [hlds] TF2 Quickplay Issue

2012-07-14 Thread Franco Valerio
Same here, but not all.
Sometimes the game crashes when map changes or when you disconnect from the
server. I notice because most of the time my server are full and now the server
are 16/24, etc.
Many people in spuf and my community began to complain about this problem. So I
think is a game problem.

[hlds] Is the policy of truth still going?

2012-07-14 Thread AeroliteGaming.com
Are bot/fake player servers still being banned? I know tons that are
running it and they have their ranks 100 on game tracker. This is all
while I'm trying to get regulars on one of my servers to get it
populated. All my efforts are failing so far while these are tricking
quickplay into populating their servers whilst sitting and relaxing. I'm
half tempted to start the packet spoofing job because everyone else is
getting away with it and having their servers filled with people 24/7
and making money off motd ads to go and add more servers to con
quickplay with.

I won't lie, I'm not all good myself. I'm running instant respawn on 2
of my servers whilst using quickplay, but at least i'm displaying in the
title and not conning player counts. Those 2 servers have now gained
alot of regular players that enjoy them. This is probably because they
aren't as common. My Vanilla settings server is suffering from this though.

Eventually people will learn and just blacklist your server. The biggest
thing is that valve will eventually realize that players are just
leaving before 15 minutes and throw your server into the deep hole that
you will never come out of, but yes I do understand where you are coming
from.

Valve wont do anything to most of the servers that are hacking as they
are too important to be removed, i.e. lotusclan. They run still to
this day with the hat effects that if I tried to run would get a big no
no from Valve.

So yeah, valve is picking favorites and I understand why as well.

2012-07-14 Thread AeroliteGaming.com
How else are you meant to compete other than give people something
different to try. The people that have been attracted in through
quickplay have become regular players and enjoy it. They would never
have got a chance otherwise with the 500 saigns.de servers covering the
list. Nobody i've seen to this day has complained about respawn times
and it's what make it a success. It's different. People aren't leaving
all the time either. I have 30/30 most of the time on those servers, and
we've been running for almost a year with these. Any idiot can easily
search what servers are changing the respawn times. Valve probably knows
but like they said they're not taking individuals off.

You lot are lucky you can even get yours to fill. We have about 16

My servers also wouldnt fill at some points during the last few days,
without any obvious reason. Restarting seemed to fix this, and my feeling
is that its quickplay related, even though the login and everything seems
to be ok according to the logs...

 Hey all,

I don't often post here, but this time I felt it was important. I help
managed some TF2 servers, but I notice that as of late Quickplay has
become less reliable. It disconnects more often, and sometimes even
requires a server reboot to fix. More importantly, since the most
 recent
updates on the 11th and 13th of July, Quickplay no longer fills the
server. It works up until around 16-19 players, and then it dies out
without helping the server reach 21-24 (the server maximums). Has
 anyone
 else noticed this?

Is there any way to check if it is actually working?

 Thank you for your time,
 Devin O'Malley
