At the risk of feeding the trolls (note the plural)...He probably asked in the off-chance that he might have missed something that *was* relevant. It's difficult to determine someone's intent in a written medium since there's no voice inflection or body language to go on, but it seemed (to me) like he could have been genuinely asking. Re: [hlds] Please VALVe, keep the STEAM_1 now
I thought someone had posted the algorithm to convert between SteamIDs and 32-bit integers, but in case they didn't: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=60899 That example is in C, I believe, and a quick google search should turn up similar results for PHP. Re: [hlds] Time out at map change
You are missing the forest for the trees, Karl. Valve is not responding to your constant bitching here, yet several of us are by telling you that this is not the place for it. Valve doesn't use this list on a regular basis, but we do. You are in effect NOT bitching at Valve, but bitching instead at us. We do not have the power to fix this bug. Valve does. Bitch to them. Go to valvesoftware.com, click Contact, and go from there. On Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 12:50 PM, Karl Weckstrom k...@weckstrom.com wrote: Please post the Mailing List FAQ that states all this. The point remains that THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR COMPLAINTS. This is the place to: 1) Gather or inquire technical details of said bug 2) Share and discuss any work-arounds for said bug Airing of grievances belongs on forums and blogs and Valve's customer support channels, not on a mailing list for independent server operators. lurk On Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 11:17 AM, Karl Weckstrom k...@weckstrom.com wrote: I second Patrick. To be honest, I don't care what your reasoning is. This is a serious problem that's getting lots of airtime here. Re: [hlds] L4D: TK'ing becoming more of an issue
I've never run into intentional TKing, probably because I stick to friends-only games. It seems like this will inevitably be an issue in any co-op game on a public server, and really something that could only be solved with a vote kick. Perhaps giving admins the ability to enable stricter TK penaltieson a per-server basis might help? Re: [hlds] Steam Community Group: Changing Group Name
Fourthing this. I appreciate the technical aspects behind it, as they probably use the group name as some kind of database primary key, but it would be worth it to the community at large to use some kind of dissociated UUID primary key. tl;dr: this would be an awesome feature. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
