- add the IP to the startup-line ( +ip x.x.x.x )

If you already did this, it might be something else.

[hlds] 0% CPU usage

2009-03-21 Thread Jarno Veuger
Hello list,

On my Windows 2k3 Enterprise dedicated box I've some problems with 2
SRCDS servers.

The servers (TF2 and GMod) work great and without lag. However, with the
TF2 server full and like 20 players in the GMod server. There is like
0%/1% CPU usage (total) with an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. On my other
Windows 2k3 dedicated box a full TF2 server takes around 20% CPU (with a
AMD quad core processor).

I'm sure somehow the CPU usage is wrong on the first machine. But how
can I get to know the real CPU values?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Jarno Ywa Veuger

Re: [hlds] 0% CPU usage

2009-03-21 Thread Jarno Veuger
Thanks, I'll try the srcdsfpsboost, however... will the task manager
give the right CPU usage values then? Or do they return 0% now because
SRCDS doesn't use what the server can handle?

Cc2iscooL wrote:
Are you using a fps booster service? If not, Windows has an extremely lazy
timer and won't give you an actual processor usage and will also limit your
server to... 56-60 FPS (I believe it is.)

You can pick up a program called srcdsfpsboost or there's a service that is
easy to set up from http://www.brainless.us/downloads.aspx?cid=9

Optionally, you can run Windows Media Player in the background with the
visualization enabled and it should have the same effect, but a lot more
 memory usage.

Nevermind guys. I used the MetaMod Source plugin (FPS Boost), because
the installer of that timer kept saying I didn't got NET Framework

Great work Tony. I've installed it to both our servers and I hope it works.

Tony Paloma wrote:
 Hey everyone,

I've released a plugin that hopefully fixes the Host_Error crashes that a
lot of people have been getting. The plugin is a Valve server plugin, and
does not require metamod or Sourcemod. It can be loaded in the middle of a
game with no noticeable load time. After loading the plugin, you should
change the map for the plugin to take any action.

You can download it from my website:
 http://www.sourceop.com/modules.php?name=Downloadsd_op=viewdownloadcid=11

 Direct link:
 http://www.sourceop.com/modules.php?name=Downloadsd_op=getitlid=34

I'm making no guarantees with the first version and I need your help
testing. I've been running it on my servers and noticed immediate
improvement. Also, voogru is running it on his servers and everything seems
 fine so far.

Also, this is not some amazing fix-everything plugin and will not fix any
unrelated crashes or prevent your server from lagging or give you insane FPS
 or anything.

 Contents of the README file:
 String Table Blocker
 Version: 1 for TF2
 Date: 2/25/09
 Creator: Drunken F00l, www.sourceop.com

This plugin prevents the following crash (or ones similar):
Host_Error: Overflow error writing string table baseline Scenes

It works by removing a bunch of stuff from the string tables. The goal of
 this
is to remove enough stuff so that a client can connect without causing an
overflow when the server tries to send the client all of the string tables.
 By
default, it will remove almost all scene (vcd) files and defer all of them
 from
being added until use. The taunt scenes will be removed which will break
 taunts.
This can be controlled by one of the CVARs. Adding taunts back in may or may
 not
cause an overflow message and hasn't been thoroughly tested.

 CVARs:
 stb_blocktaunts
  - Blocks taunts from being processed. (defaults to on)
 stb_blockunused
  - Blocks unused table entries. Should always be enabled. (defaults to on)
 stb_cutspy
  - Blocks spy scene table entries. (defaults to on)
 stb_cutvoicemenu
  - Blocks all vcd related to voice menu and responses. (defaults to on)
 stb_deferallscenes
  - Doesn't enter scene table entries until use. (defaults to on)
 stb_verbose
  - Displays messages to console when action is taken. (defaults to off)

Hi,

I could write a quick tool for it. However, I can't find that on B1095

We might want to split this topic from the main topic.

Actually, it seems the change from STEAM_0 to STEAM_1 is more or less

 text:0009E8F0 mov edx, [esp+8]

 text:0009E909 and ecx, 1

 text:0009E90E mov [eax+0Ch], ecx
 text:0009E911 mov [eax+8], edx
 text:0009E914 retn4

 For example, changing:
 text:0009E901 mov word ptr [eax+4], 1
 To:
 text:0009E901 mov word ptr [eax+4], 0

Will give old STEAM_0 numbers back. The function returns a proprietary
USERID_t structure and two of the bytes are the '1'. If someone really wants
their STEAM_0 back, open server.dll, go to B1095 and change 0x01 to 0x00.
Likewise, for Linux, go to 9E90E and change 0x01 to 0x00.

So you're saying because you don't got problems with it. Valve should
keep it?

It's not TF2 and DoD:S that are affected. Even GMod is affected by it
and our achievement system in there works with SteamIDs and uniqueIDs. I
need to program myself an application that changes 26000 text files.
It's just that Valve doesn't do any communication about this. They could
atleast announced it. But no, Valve sucks so much they just do what they
want.

I don't think they'll be happy to change it again to STEAM_0 if you change

When I got multicore rendering on, my CPU (both cores) is around the
100% (sometimes for a few seconds 95%). When I disable that multicore

such.

Jarno Veuger, I guess you are talking about the stuttering problem, and
when you disable the multicore rendering, it fixes it?
Strange it happens with your ATI card, most people who have that problem

When I run it again it hangs at Updating installation (for 20 minutens
or so).

Mine was stopping on some of the files, but all I had to do was Ctrl+C to
stop the updater, then run it again, and it continued normally.

 Hello list,

When I want to preload (through the hldsupdatetool) the full Left 4 Dead
servers files on my Windows 2003 Enterprise server it stops with

Re: [hlds] This is not the place for this

Your anti-virus probably deleted left4dead.exe (or put it in
quarantine). My NOD32 anti-virus did. Try to get it somewhere or from
someone and it should work again (make sure to disable the anti-virus
protection or put the EXE on the ignore list).

My L4D demo won't start, I've tried forcing a platform update, tried
verifying the GCF, tried redownloading and installing the game twice.
And it still gives me that annoying game is currently unavailable.
I know one of you know some sort of mystical workaround that will make the
 game work.

[hlds] L4D Win32 server problems (Steam library)

2008-11-07 Thread Jarno Veuger
Hi list,

I'm having an issue with the Left 4 Dead Demo Win32 dedicated server
files. When I start it, it changes to right map and that kind of things.
But it before the VAC ok message it displays: Unable to load Steam
library. (not the error with all those *** (stars) in it).

It worked fine yesterday and people were able to join through the lobby
but it seems the last update broke it. I'm running Windows 2003 (Server)
Enterprise and the server port is 22003 (not default).

Any help is welcome.

Thanks in advance.
