Any evidence? I mean in respect to the allegation of account suspensions,
although I am also curious about this particularly ruddy Valve employee you
mentioned.

@wander

Firstly, it would be in the company's interest to not post this sort of
news.

Secondly, it only blocks users from being able to edit/modify their account
info.

Thirdly, if you have to ask you won't understand the answer.

Fisrtly, I might be looking at the wrong place, but if valve is massively
suspending accounts, wouldnt there be a dozen of topics about it on the
steam forums? Because I don't really see any

I have also looked through my whole friendlist, and everyone there is just
fine

Secondly, what does this have to do with dedicated servers?

Best you all can do is to not reply messages like this unless you have
something to contribute for. The matter is on the table now, if there is any
truth in this, it will come out.

I haven't seen or heard anything nor have the Steampowered forums, which is
first place to look for clues.

@ Cc2iscooL - Nope, i dont have Steam Client installed on my Dedi Machine
and never have for around 7 years. Like i said in my OP, the L4D2 Server has
been running since the game out about 3 years ago and this latest problem
only occurred after updating the Server with the valve update last Thursday
and hence it has got to be something in that update causing the problem.
From what i can gather, there are a lot of Windows Servers having allsorts
of problems since that last update sadly.

While Valve sits and doesn't add this, someone more proficient with plugins
could write something that does this:

 - Catch named/described items

 - Create an item with the same characteristics as those items

 - Remove the named/described items and replace with the new ones

 - If any Strange counter gets updated, send it to the GC server as if it
was on the original weapon (this might be too complicated)

I originally thought one of the other admins on RUGC Midwest disabled
mp_forceautoteam. It turns out that our Windows TF2 server is ignoring this
cvar now since the Christmas update and presenting users with the team
selection screen.

My Linux TF2 plugin test server / event server is seeing this same behavior.

This is what my server console says on both servers:

mp_forceautoteam = 1 ( def. 0 )
game notify replicated
- Automatically assign players to teams when joining.

Maybe if you didn't initiate private conversations with us via instigatory
emails such as please dont spam the thread with tangents. Don't be dumbass,
dumbass, you wouldn't receive personal spam (aka replies). If that's what
you send in response to someone *answering a question you asked*, I wouldn't
want to see what happened if someone actually did something wrong.

Between the instigatory comments, inflammatory statements, and rhetorical
questions, you send far more tangential emails than anyone you flame. I
avoided responding to your other message in hopes of avoiding a situation
where you'd reply again, but as you seem to do so regardless of how others
react.

Just let the thread get back on track. Don't bother sending me another
inflammatory private email, or trying to flamebait me here. I've said my
piece, and I'm done dealing with you.

Re: [hlds] 128 Tick

2012-12-29 Thread Pizza
Hi Sachin,

You must set a servers tickrate at the time of install. First uninstall your
server. Then add the following switch argument to the steamCMD command line
when you're re-installing your server '+sv_tickrate 128'

Please ignore the asshatters that make fun of your very serious server
question. And thank you for being a server host.

May you be blessed by the sweet, sweet Ghost of Baby Jesus.

Your friend,

Pizza

[hlds] TF2 MOTD Browser

2012-12-19 Thread Pizza
If you need to run ad's in the MOTDs to keep your servers running then just
shut down your server(s). You're doing it wrong. You are not serving the
gaming community if the community isn't making donations. I have never had
any problems getting players to donate to the cause.

Mike Vail (a.k.a. BOOM! Gaming Support [supp...@boomgaming.net] ) you must
think everyone on this list is stupid. This mailing list is not for you to
pitch your ad service. It's obviously a major failure based on the rankings
of your servers. http://www.gametracker.com/search/?query=boom%21

People play games to play games not to help you have your little power trip.
Please STOP spamming the gaming community with useless advertisements and
game hijacking MOTD's.

Re: [hlds] TF2 MOTD Browser

2012-12-19 Thread Pizza
Thanks for the passive aggressive sales pitch T Marler {a.k.a.
bloodyi...@shaw.ca). Sorry to inform you of this, but, NO SALE!!

By calling the MOTD Browser a browser you have confused yourself into
assuming you can place 'HIJACKWARE' into gamers lives. MOTD is an acronym
for Message of The Day, a place for a quick message to anyone that chooses
to play on a given server. Players can then choose to play or not play on a
server based on their personal preference and their interpretation of the
message.

When server op's place 'HIJACKWARE' in the MOTD they are in essence stealing
the users ability to leave by locking the game until the ad is played. Not
to mention the assault on the users ears while the ad's play. This is
offensive to many people in the community. The complaint that people just
click through the ad's should be evidence enough that ad's are not something
the community is willing to tolerate.

I'm willing to bet if you start giving the players what they want you will
start to get repeat players that will contribute to the cause, as opposed to
forcing people to pay for 'your' servers for you.

I'm sorry Pizza but I for one do not agree with your aggressive sentiments.
I may not necessarily have a large network of public servers, but I'm sure
I'm not alone when it comes to the thought that not everyone is a charity.
What may not work for you doesn't have to be the way other people do things.
You can run your servers as you see fit, as can anyone else, including
people who use Pinion ads.

If you don't like it, too bad. This is life.

Now, while it's hypocritical of me to ask that you actually get back to
contributing to the discussion, it does need to be asked. So can you do that
for us please?
