Last update was August 16th that i know of, unless it was fix for servers to correct appid. At the time of that update, someone forgot update something and servers didn't say they were out of date, unless you manually updated them. -ics Erik-jan Riemers kirjoitti: So i noticed a l4d2 update yesterday, what was the change? Re: [hlds_linux] l4d2 update
If you saw it on either SteamDB or SteamPing, it might be a mystery. However, the SteamDB page for 550 ( http://steamdb.info/app/550/#section_history) only shows Changed changenumber – 267715 › 272381 and no branch updates. Usually, this means that only something server-side was changed in the changelist 272381 involving L4D2, meaning that the game's actual content wasn't updated. Valve's autoupdate only kicks in when the server changes maps. This is to prevent it from kicking players off the server. Now, one could argue that it should immediately cycle empty servers... but it doesn't. In theory, you could write a server plugin that catches the MasterRequestRestart event (which is only shown on -autoupdate servers) and have it restart the server, which would cause said server to run the Steam updater for that game. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

Dude, I've been running Valve dedicated server games on Linux machines for over 4 years. Whether YOU think so or not, I actually do understand fairly well how updates work. Do you really have nothing better to do than piss in my corn flakes? I was trying to make a point, nothing more. Without something like nemrun, these servers aren't going to update until a map change happens. Since nobody was on the servers at the time, when exactly do you suppose that map change is going to happen? I'll leave that as an exercise for you to figure out or recite since you know so much. I already know the answer. Me, I'd rather have the servers update BEFORE then. Next time I fix something like this maybe I'll just keep it to myself.
