[Hugin-devs] [Bug 1022213] Re: PTBatcherGUI: Does not come to an end

I think a more detailed description and maybe a .pto file would be
great. I'd like to try this step by step on my Mac. Never saw this
happening.

Title:
PTBatcherGUI: Does not come to an end

Status in Hugin - Panorama Tools GUI:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I use the most recent version of Hugin (1011.4.0), under Mac OS X
10.7.4. When I call 'Erstellen des Panoramas' (= 'build panorama'?)
with 'Alle Dateien' (= 'all files'?) sometimes the resulting JPG-photo
is not stored. And sometimes it is!

And in all cases PTBatcherGUI does not come to a normal end; OS X says
  'PTBatcherGUI does not respond'.

By the way: The preview shows the correct result of the stitch.

  What can be the reason???

These messages:

suggest that you selected use alternate program... in Hugin prefs - Programs

internal versions instead.

Does that work for you?

If not, which Hugin and Windows version do you use?

It works in 2012.0.0

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 1115484] Re: cant upload images even with no indicated unusable symbols

2013-02-05 Thread zarl
The error message about invalid characters in your file names also refers to
invalid characters in the path, i.e. check the folder names. Check the complete
path where your image and project files are stored.
See http://wiki.panotools.org/Hugin_FAQ#Special_Characters_in_Paths
Also don't use '…' (alt+.) in folder and file names.

And please try to compose regular sentences so others have a chance to
get your message.

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 1065780] Re: Hugin crashes on opening pto file (OS X)

2012-10-23 Thread zarl
I think this is less of a hugin problem but a good reason for a system
check. I prefer http://applejack.sf.net (which starts fsck and a few
more tests) for that, but an OS X startup DVD with Disk Utility (see
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417 ) will be a good start.

From the first report It seems to hapen more often when other programs
are open in the background. In that case I'd close all other apps and
have an eye on the activity monitor.

About cursor is a watch, isn't it a spinning beach ball?

You wrote that you didn't change any prefs. Please read the READMEs
that come with the software, there are indeed some prefs you should
adapt to your needs...

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 1065780] Re: Hugin crashes on opening pto file (OS X)

2012-10-21 Thread zarl
I can't reproduce this on my OS X 10.6.8 MacPro with hugin 2012.0.0-RC3
I can't remember having crashes when moving or renaming files before reopening
a .pto file.

About stitching screenshots... what's your plan behind that?

You could try the latest RC version
http://sourceforge.net/projects/hugin/files/hugin/hugin-2012.0/hugin-mac-2012.0.0_rc3.dmg/download
Make sure you follow the notes coming with this version.

You don't use the graphic card option or other prefs that are
experimental, right?

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 1054725] [NEW] PTBatcherGUI doesn't start from Hugin via menu command

2012-09-22 Thread zarl
Public bug reported:

I have a large folder of images and want to use PTBatcherGUI to look for series

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 679983] Re: Enable drag-and-drop of picture files

2012-08-21 Thread zarl
Drag and drop as described above indeed doesn't work in the Assistant
tab on OS X.

However, it does work in the second (Images) tab: the list area accepts
dropping image files on it. So this is a (non intuitive) workaround.

So for the OS X build (whoever is willing and able to do that in the
future) we'd probably need an active area that accepts images to be
dropped on it.

Another valid approach would be to let the program icon accept image files to
be dropped on it:
- if application is closed or already open with a new, empty project - add
images
- if an open project already contains images ask user if new files should be
added to current project or save current pto and start new project with these
files.

Please note that there seems (or seemed) to be a bug when dragging directly
from within iPhoto into hugin:

The first step in the hugin workflow is to open the files that you

I would like to be able to drag-and-drop them from the Finder instead
of selecting them in the Load files popup.

Both drag-and-drop to the Assistant tab and to the hugin icon in the

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 968466] Re: Hugin crashes, when I try to create a *.jpg file

2012-03-30 Thread zarl
I remember some strange error with a friend's Mac which wasn't willing
to display one of my then ptviewer driven panoramas. When I visited
him and tried myself on his Mac OS 9 computer I suddenly realized that
he (as a creative guy) had renamed his HD from the preset Macintosh HD
to something like wild data ™ because he had found out where the (tm)
symbol was on his keyboard and thought this was pretty cool.

Your attached system information starts with something very similar and
I'm not sure if you altered this manually to anonymize your attachment
or if you really managed to include path delimiters (: on a Mac) to
your computer's own name as well as to the user name:

Computer Name: MacBook Pro
  User Name: (Ferdi)

If that's the case I'd start with renaming to something that's less
error prone.

Also, have you actually saved the project file prior to stitching?

And can you test with a different output format other than JPG?

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 929390] Re: problems with long filenames

2012-02-09 Thread zarl
The attached output from hugin gives you a hint in the last two lines:
Your file names are not too long but they contain special characters. Try
without brackets '(' and ')', and if that still doesn't work also get rid of
the spaces in your file names.
20120205_Schneewanderung-Oberhof-D70_295.jpg will work.

See http://wiki.panotools.org/Hugin_FAQ#Special_Characters_in_Paths

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 892493] Re: incorrect layering of checkboxes in Move/Drag tab

2011-11-20 Thread zarl
This is weird: I can't reproduce it today... I just opened the same
project again in 2011.5 as well as in 2011.3 but now it all looks fine.

Sorry for the confusion. This bug can be closed. However I'll keep an
eye on it, maybe it's some flaw of my graphics card.

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 892508] [NEW] redundant columns in project list of PTBatcherGUI

2011-11-19 Thread zarl
Public bug reported:

Usually (i.e. using defaults in Hugins stitch dialog) both project file and
output files are located in the same folder. If that's the case both columns
Project and Output prefix in the project list of PTBatcherGUI display
almost the same information: each shows the complete path to the project while
Project shows the pto extension and Output prefix hides it.

A more concise presentation would rearrange order (first file, then path) and
omit the path in the second column if both paths are identical, e.g. like this:
Project column: project-name.pto (in /path/to/my/project/in/progress/)
Output prefix column: output-prefix

If both paths differ then only the relative difference of the second path is
shown, e.g. like this:
Project column: project-name.pto (in /path/to/my/project/in/progress/)
Output prefix column: output-prefix (in ../../stitched/)

Another approach would be to only show the path as 'help text' when
hovering with the mouse over one of these columns.

Also, PTBatcherGUI doesn't remember column widths set by the user.
Preset column width is absurd, i.e. too long for ID and too short for
some other columns. An automatic approach to set the width according to
the content would be nice to have. If the user sets the width this
should be remembered by PTBatcherGUI.

Current behaviour is observed in recent versions of Hugin / PTBatcherGUI
on Mac OS X using a 1600x1200 display, on smaller screens (e.g. laptops)
this might be rather annoying.

a not-so-complete list is here:

If you're unsure about specific terms feel free to discuss this in
hugin's mailing list.

I.e. both strings are translated into the same. The first string should
probably be something like
  msgstr Lambert Equal Area Cylindrical

other places). Or perhaps just the original English string.

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 814002] Re: error on stitching

2011-07-22 Thread zarl
Hi danteneo,

what looks like Bruno's remarks about security vulnerability and
visibility is only a status change he did for your bug.

Bruno's second message addresses your problem. Note that hugin is
basically a user interface that uses several independent command line
tools to actually do the work. To function properly these tools require
a working exchange of information about the files that you want to
stitch. So please check the link Bruno provided and follow the hints
there.

The makefile you have attached shows that something is wrong with the
path to your files: they seem to be stored directly on your desktop,
right? Check your image names, some of them seem to contain special
characters (see the list of input images in the makefile, it doesn't
list several images). BTW do the files have proper extensions like .jpg
or .tif? If not, please add that.

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 803772] Re: Doesn´t make a panorama; tells me to report the bug to this site

2011-06-30 Thread zarl
Hello Johannes,

these tests failed:
 Checking enblend...[FAILED]
 Checking enfuse...[FAILED]

You're on 10.4 which requires (according to the Read Me First
(Mac).pdf) to install special versions of enblend and enfuse. These are
in the enblend-enfuse-4.0 folder inside the dmg... Don't forget to
have a look at and follow the Readme.txt that comes with the Tiger
versions.

BTW there is already 2011.0.1 available.

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 795507] [NEW] crop values not loaded from lens .ini file

2011-06-10 Thread zarl
Public bug reported:

Beginning with Hugin 2010.2.0 the following doesn't work as expected:
- load some images (no matter if through Assistant or Images tab)
- in CameraLens tab apply a lens ini file that contains [Lens/crop] values on
one image
- this should be inherited on all other images that have the same lens number
The Crob tab of Hugin 2010.2.0 only lists correct crop coordinates and center
d,e value for the one image for that the ini was loaded.

It worked correctly before, I tested the Mac OS X releases of Hugin
0.7.0, Hugin 0.8.0, Hugin 2009.2, Hugin 2009.4.0 and Hugin 2010.0.0.

This (or something similar) seems to have been reported before by Bruno:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/hugin/+bug/678661

On a related note it would be IMHO expected behaviour if the load lens
button in the CameraLens tab wouldn't be deactivated as soon as I
select more than one image.

** Affects: hugin
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 794087] Re: OSX 10.6 doesn't stich

2011-06-07 Thread zarl
Hi Thomas,

the newer version 2011.0.0 is already available,
http://hugin.sourceforge.net/ has release notes and a download link.

Your three images have different exposure, I guess you just try to align
and enfuse a hand held bracketed shot, right? I'm not sure why enblend
would be needed for that anyway. What output file options did you select
in the last tab? Or do you just use the Assistant?

Your log says
  enblend: unknown option -U
Try enblend --help for more information.
  gnumake: *** [-Users-ninavilliger-Desktop-IMG_8147-IMG_8151.tif] Error 1
That's an output file name that doesn't work and is unfortunately suggested by
Hugin. Disable that setting in the Preferences - General - Project name
[ ] based on path name (or something similar). Or just make sure you choose a
different file name...

Hope that helps,
Carl

Does plane overview stand for Mosaic plane mode in the new Overview

I just try to translate the current release notes into German and I'm
not sure what Plane overview is wrong if opening fast preview window

screenshots.

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 792826] Re: German release notes for 2011.0.0 by Carl von Einem

2011-06-04 Thread zarl
BTW in the workaround description I also included a link to the
Panotools wiki for PTBatcherGUI so Mac users have a chance to find a
download URL.

The original release notes contain the following in the workaround description:
  3. Click the run button to stitch.
The Mac OS X version of the PTBatcherGUI has no 'run' button but an icon which
is a 'play' symbol just like it is used on e.g. tape decks (or CD players as a
digital equivalent). BTW the window title says 'Batch Processor' instead of
'PTBatcherGUI'. See attached screenshot.

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 726186] Re: Panosphere is drawn above the images

2011-02-28 Thread zarl
On OS X 10.6 if I click the 'pin' icon to have the fast preview's new
panosphere overview in a separate flowing window the 'Overview' window is
seperate from the content (the panosphere). The panosphere stays in the lower
left corner of the screen while the empty overview window can be dragged
around. It will stay on top of every other hugin window and eventually hides
the panosphere. Zooming the window also zooms the seperated content.
I don't see darker images as described by Thomas.

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 726997] [NEW] Panosphere Overview window seperated from the content

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 679973] Re: Keyboard-only navigation

2011-02-28 Thread zarl
Shift+F1...Shift+F9 also works on OS X but only on the main window. If
e.g. the Fast preview is frontmost this combination still switches the
tabs of the main window.

It would be cool to have shortcuts for
- jumping tabs to the right and to the left in the front most window (Ctrl-Tab;
Ctrl-Shift-Tab)
- switching between open windows like main window, Fast Preview, CP Table,
Panosphere Overview (Ctrl-; Ctrl-)

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 697039] Re: Error during stitching

2011-02-26 Thread zarl
Please just use the workaround as described earlier then. It's simple. I
tested it on my OS X 10.5 on a different partition and it works. BTW I
still do most of my work on 10.4 so I understand the decision to keep a
working 'playground' well enough.

You can search the mailing list for Harry's postings about the problem:
his own hugin builds currently just don't work on 10.5, we have to live
with it, it's a won't fix if you yourself aren't able to compile a
working build yourself.

Again: this only affects 10.5, not 10.4 nor 10.6.

You are free to follow the workaround I hinted to on 2011-02-05 in this
very same thread, i.e. use ptbatchergui. What's the problem about using
ptbatchergui?

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 697039] Re: Error during stitching

2011-02-24 Thread zarl
TORO, please use the workaround as this seems to be a specific problem
on OS X 10.5. Note that the current bundles are built on a 10.6 system
and for some yet unknown reason these builts work also on 10.4 but not
on 10.5.

Your other options at this point would be IMHO to either upgrade to 10.6
(if you are on Intel), set up a 10.4 partition (if on PPC), or build
yourself: http://wiki.panotools.org/Hugin_Compiling_OSX

[Hugin-devs] [Bug 707309] Re: filenames badly sorted - destroys multirow technique

2011-01-25 Thread zarl
Note that the provided example file names sort nicely in the Finder of
OS X (no1, no2, no3, ..., no10, no11, ...) and should also do so in
Windows Explorer and also in file mangers of other systems. So I think
this should work just like in standard file mangers: consecutive numbers
should be regarded as one multi-digit number, see attached screenshot.

BTW I really like your idea to include creation dates into the import
order sorting routine. Even if this wouldn't work with e.g. scans.

This could obviously create some issues if stitching with multirow

I just tested the Assistant tab of the 2010.4.0 version for Mac. It
definitely doesn't accept drag and drop. The 1. Load images... seems

A quick workaround could be to simply rephrase to something like this:
Please load images by either pressing on the '1. Load images...' button
or drag your images in the file list of the 'Images' tab.

Title:
  Add Color Management to Hugin

Status in Hugin - Panorama Tools GUI:
  New

Bug description:
(Note: I'm also posting this to the Hugin gmail group)

I've been playing with RPP
(http://www.raw-photo-processor.com/RPP/Overview.html) for RAW conversion
preliminary to generating panoramas with Hugin (most recently Harry van der
Wolf's OSX build of 2010.4.0-beta2); and running into problems with the color
space.

RPP generates TIFF files in the BetaRGB color space; and using these files
directly in Hugin I find two problems:

1) The panomatic control point generator barfs on these - Exception Type:
EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) in the crash logs ( I can provide details if you like). I
can generate control points manually, or with autopano-sift; and the alignment
and distortion optimization runs as expected.

2) The expoure optimization generally leads to absurd results; usually a strong
horizontal exposure gradient, and if I try white balance optimization then the
resulting panorama reminds my of my experiments in recreational pharmacology
many decades ago.

I can work around this by converting the files from BetaRGB to ProPhoto (e.g.
in Photoshop, that being what I'm most familiar with), after which Hugin
handles them with no problems. But this is a pain when I have hundreds of
images to deal with.

It's not clear if these are bugs or just a case of input that Hugin (or its
components) weren't designed to handle; outside of RPP I haven't run across
BetaRGB anywhere else. And I don't know the underlying math well enough to
know whether adding support for this is a trivial fix or a major overhaul.

If this is a bug, I can provide lots of detail; if it's a missing feature,
please consider this a feature request.

file name. This extension is needed for the 'import' file dialog to
accept a file. Furthermore it might make sense to automatically use the
description of the actual setting to name the settings file together
with a date/time stamp, e.g. cpfind-101204-1721.settings

- Exported settings files are empty, so nothing will be imported yet (I
also opened an exported .setting file with a text editor to make sure
it's really empty).

- What will happen if I import a settings file with the same description
(but different arguments) I already have in my prefs? Do I get the
chance to rename it (favoured) or will it overwrite an existing setting
(bad)?

Title:
save / load CP generator settings doesn't work

Bug description:
Applies to Harry's new beta2 of Hugin-2010.4.0 bundle as of 4 Dec 2010.
