SERVICELINK @ IBMLink 2.5 hours still can't logon

2007-08-10 Thread Mark House
Okay,
Give me the 3270 version back! Three calls to IBM Registration, 2
calls to Service Link, and 2.5 hours later I am now waiting to talk to a
Level 2 guy at IMBLink. Doesn't IBM understand that I have customers that
expect problems to get resolved in a timely manner. Maybe they should let
me put in PMR's directly from my customers to IBM, and let them worry
about the problem.

z/OS Release Strategy Documentation?????

2007-04-10 Thread Mark House
This is a long shot. I am looking for a document from IBM z/Series
Software explaining there procedure for announcing/delivering new releases
of z/OS.

After spending a couple of hours looking for it (GOOGLE, and IBMcom),
I can't find it. Someone in management indicated they read the document
once and was sure it existed Needle in a Haystack comes to mind.

D37 for PDSE in LNKLIST in SYSPLEX

2007-03-08 Thread Mark House
Summary: We need to delete a file that has enqueue's on the DSN in
multiple LPAR's on the same Z/900. Any help would be appreciated.

In performing SMP/E processing we ran into a D37-04 on the CBC.SCCNCMP
that resides on a SYSRES pack. The same DSN is used on four other LPAR'S
on a z/900 running various levels of Z/OS. The CBC.SCCNCMP on the other
LPAR'S are files unitque to that release of the Operating System. When we
attempt to delete and define the file that needs more space, we get a
"DATASET in use by 10 users" message. The other "users" are LLA and
XCFAS. We assume this is because the dataset is named the same on the
other LPAR'S.

How can I build a new PDSE named "CBC.SCCNCMP" on a single LPAR
without having to IPL?

Z/900 How to Test Daylight Savings Time Mods

three LPAR's on a single z/900. This z/900 is an application development

test the modifications to our system, and our applications prior to the

the modifications without manually changing the clock on the SE, and
performing a Power On Reset. Are there any products/utilities that

IBM DEBUG TOOL Install in Own SMP/E CSI or in IBM Z/OS BASE ELEMENT CSI

2006-11-09 Thread Mark House
We are installing IBM DEBUG TOOL & ADVANCED FUNCTIONS on a SYSPLEX which
has multiple LPAR'S running different levels of  z/OS (1.4 1.6 and 1.7).
The LPAR'S share DASD for non SYSRES packs. The documentation indicates
that we can install the IBM DEBUG TOOL in it's own SMP/E CSI. However, a
section of the documentation indicates that CEE.SCEELKED, CSSLIB, AND
SEZATCP must be added to the statnd alone SMP/E CSI Zones in order to
APPLY the IBM DEBUG TOOL to the Target Zone.
As these CALLIBS are z/OS Release specific, does this mean that I
will have to install the IBM DEBUG TOOL on each of the LPAR'S in my
SYSPLEX. If you have any experience in doing this, or thoughts on the
matter, I would appreciate the input.

Move VSAM DS w/ 8 Components or more

2006-09-08 Thread Mark House
During SPACE migration we are using DFSHSM with a MIGRATE VOLUME(dbc66e
MIGRATE(0)) CONVERT command. This moves all of the datasets except those
VSAM datasets with over 8 components (AIX, PATH, etc). The manuals
indicate that we have to move these datasets by DSN. We have attempted
ADRSDSSU but it has the same limitations.
Two questions.
1. Is there a way to get a list of VSAM data set names by CLUSTER name
only. (Not had much luck with ISMF PANELS).
2. Is there a better utility to use to move the VSAM datasets with more
than 8 components to the new device. (move from RAMMAC 3 to DS6000) .
Any help would be appreciated.

z/os Master Catalog to new volume in SYSPLEX

2006-09-08 Thread Mark House
We are migrating to new DASD (DS6000) and want to move a Master Catalog
for a 1.7 z/OS system to a new pack prior to performing the migration. The
z/os 1.7 Master Catalog is defined as a User Catatlog to the z/os 1.6
Master Catalog on another LPAR. We have read the Managing Catalog manuals
and can not find a way to move the z/os 1.7 catalog without building an
alternate.
My question is, can we shutdown the z/os 1.7 LPAR and move the
z/OS 1.7 Master Catalog as we would a usercat from the z/os 1.6 LPAR. If
not, does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks. Lost in ICSF,

Re: Scrolling NETSTAT display REXX script attached

2006-05-25 Thread Mark House
Thanks to all who responded. It turns out there is a REXX script that
someone uses to allow scrollable display. I have tested it and it works.
Here is what I used.

/*  SHAREWARE   ??   t
/* REXX to trap output from a given command and, instead of letting it
/* REXX to trap output from a given command and, instead of letting it
display once and be lost, copies it to a temporary dataset for browsing.

This is useful in two cases: 1) When the output is rather long and it'd

be nice to be able to browse up and down through it (for example as with

HELP XMIT or LISTCAT HISTORY), and 2) when you want to be able to search

through it for a particular string, or otherwise manipulate it with VIEW

commands.

To make the call, just insert DISP between TSO and the command; for
example, instead of saying TSO HELP XMIT, say TSO DISP HELP XMIT. */

arg cmd

/* Turn any single quotes into triples */
pq=pos("'",cmd); do while pq>0
  cmd=insert("''",cmd,pq)
  pq=pos("'",cmd,pq+3); end

rc=outtrap('op.'); interpret "'"cmd"'"; rc=outtrap('OFF')
if op.0=0 then say,
  "No output, or TRAP can't handle this type of output"
else do
  vx=sysvar('SYSWTERM')
  'ALLOCATE DDN(DISPTRAP) NEW REUSE LRECL('vx')'; call chkrc 'ALLOCATE'
  'EXECIO * DISKW DISPTRAP (STEM OP. FINIS'; call chkrc 'EXECIO'

say strip(zerrlm); end

  if rc>4 & wordpos(stm,'ALLOCATE FREE')=0 then do

 say '*  ' msg'!'; return
