I recall one situation where this particular reason applied: the cable we used 
to connect the OSA to the LAN was simply too long. Just for your info.

code to be found in the Open Systems Adapter-Express Customer's Guide and 
Reference manual, SA22-7935-05, and indeed it was to be found there as one
