gssa started task - very high cpu utilization
This is my first post to this list. We are experiencing very high mips usage by a third party product - sysview/cacommon serices. Since I upgraded to Sysview 12.5 the GSSA(stc for common services) has been causing high spikes in cpu during various times of the day. Of course I am working this issue with the vendor but I thought someone may have experienced this at their site. We are running z/OS 1.10 - sysplex of 10 lpars, another with 7 and another with 3. Some of the cpus are z10s and a few are z9s. The previous releases did not cause any of these issues. Maybe there is a apar that someone knows of? Any help would be appreciated. Re: gssa started task - very high cpu utilization
Doug, Sorry I won't be much help, but since it's your first post, I wanted to give you something. :) Our GSSA has used very little CPU. Here's the shutdown stats for a GSSA that was up on our largest lpar for about 6 weeks: - --TIMINGS (MINS.)-- -STEPNAME PROCSTEPRC EXCP CONNTCBSRB CLOCK SERV WORKLOAD - GSSA00431160 551181.02 64808 919K STC IEF404I GSSA - ENDED - TIME=04.55.31 -GSSA ENDED. NAME-CCS GSS SERVICE TOTAL TCB CPU TIME=.36 TOTAL E IEF352I ADDRESS SPACE UNAVAILABLE $HASP395 GSSA ENDED So yours definitely seems unusual. I don't know sysview very well, but I have a vague recollection of things using lots of CPU when we were testing the SAMS portion of it. Hope that helps a bit. Re: gssa started task - very high cpu utilization
Since GSS is used to run the IMODS for the System Condition Monitor (SYSVIEW) it will be directly related to how many are run and the frequency with which they run. In addition, it would be useful to check and see if you also have Insight/DB2 running, since that is often involved in higher CPU utilization. This is my first post to this list.
