Problem configuring Control-T with ATL

2018-11-14 Thread Gadi Ben-Avi
Hi,
We are having problems configuring Control-T to work with our new IBM TS7760.
We've gone through the documented steps, but things are not working right.

Our Configuration:
The computer has 4 partitions. There is no sharing of DASD between the
partitions.
Control-T is installed on all partitions.
Each Partition was assigned a different set of categories. This was verified
with the DS QL,CATS command.
All of the required step to configure the ATL to SMS were performed.
The exits CBRUXCUA, CBRUXEJC, and CBRUXENT were compiled into a library which
was added to the Linklist. The IBM versions of these exits were removed from
sys1.linklib.
The ATL is online to SMS
OAM is up.
Control-T is up in all partitions.

The problem:
When we add a Virtual Tape Volume in the ATL that is not defined in the MDB for
a partition, we get these messages in OAM:
CTTCBR13: VOLUME: T00103 NOT FOUND IN MDB. VOLUME IS IGNORED
CBR3620I ENTRY OF VOLUME T00103 INTO LIBRARY MLVTL FAILED.
CBR3621I ENTER REQUEST IGNORED BY THE CARTRIDGE ENTRY INSTALLATION EXIT
(CBRUXENT).

Message CTTCBR13 is not documented anywhere.

In the partition where this volume is defined in the MDB, nothing happens.
When I restart OAM in the partition, the volume is accepted, and defined in SMS.
We see these messages in OAM:
CBR3610I VOLUME ENTRY PROCESSING. 324
THE FOLLOWING VOLUMES WERE ENTERED INTO LIBRARY MLVTL.
T00103

Why do I have to restart OAM for the Virtual volume to be added?

Thanks

Gadi

Re: Why are sophisticated system-level coding examples not available? [was: RE: Recommended method for accessing secondary access spaces]

2018-11-14 Thread Clem Clarke
I have copied the source code for Jol up to the www.Oscar-Jol.com
website. IBM examined and approved the code many years ago.

Jol effectively replaces the JCL interpretor and quite a lot of the
initiator when using Dynamic Allocation instead of JCL.  It is part
compiler with PL/I style syntax, and ASM macro capabilities and part run
time monitor.

It is here:
http://start.oscar-jol.com/download-store/Jol_Distribution_2011_Source.zip

This is the Jol Source Code - IBM370 Mainframe Assembler version. A PLM
is also available upon request.

www.Oscar-Jol.com has full documentation and the executables.

Jol is a major enhancement laguage for IBM Mainframes. It can greatly
enhance all operations in a mainframe environment.

Jol is an English like command language with Network and Scheduling
capabilities, and a full scripting language for the mainframe. 3270
Panels are provided for many functions. Versions exist for Windows,
Linux and other systems

It has also been ported to C and PL/I.

When extending a Cc: list, *selectively* quote from earlier plies to

Currently I have a macro call ENTER which sets up all the register and

Does anyone have a macro or a piece of code which will setup a USING statement

Re: ASMA034E

2018-11-14 Thread Farley, Peter x23353
In addition to adding a second register to the USING you also have to load the
second register with (1st base register + 4096). Just specifying it on the
USING is not enough.

Your ENTER macro should support setting more than one base register for you
(most of the ones I have seen will do so for you, at any rate). Check the
parameters to that macro and whatever documentation on it you may have to see
how to do that.

Re: VM

2018-11-14 Thread David Spiegel
Hi Dean,
I haven't done this in a while, but ...
The only ways to ICKDSF REFORMAT a "real" DASD Volume on a Guest VM, is
to either ATTACH the Device or DEDICATE it.
AFAIK, you cannot REFORMAT a Full-Volume MiniDisk.

Regards,
David

Re: Asid of Scheduler of a SRB

2018-11-14 Thread Rob Scott
You have at least 2 options :

(1) Build a parameter control block for your SRB to accept via IEAMSCHD PARM=
keyword
Your SRB scheduler can then populate any relevant information that the SRB
needs to know

(2) Locate your SRB scheduler via trusted control blocks - i.e wherever the
PC-owning server has "hung its hat"

Re: Why are sophisticated system-level coding examples not available? [was: RE: Recommended method for accessing secondary access spaces]

2018-11-14 Thread Joseph Reichman
I was thinking about my last post
First off let me say a little bit about background
I have had some experience with vendors but it’s very light
Doing this type of programming was my passions unfortunately for me I got into
it after 2000 when IT destabilized
I am fortunate to have a landed a more stable government job
But I still enjoy this kind of programming
So I am grateful for Peter Relson, Rob Scott Ed Jaffe and Binyamin Dessin help

But as an example one of the last things Ed suggested to me was in the SRB I
PC-ss back to the caller maybe I should have known this off the top of my head
But it took me a while to figure out the the Space Switching PC routine with
SASN=OLD
The caller is the SASN Address space
 Thanks

Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: Co-posted: Rexx performance measures

2018-11-14 Thread Dyck, Lionel B. (RavenTek)
So it's working (aka broken) as coded and the only way to get it fixed is to
open an RFE, take 2 aspirins, and then take a bottle of sleeping pills - then
by the time you wake up you'll have completely forgotten about the issue and
moved on and IBM still won't have fixed it.

If they agree it's broken then they should take an APAR at the very least.

What is wrong with this picture ☹

an update about syssrc & syscpu under systemrexx:
I opened a PMR. IBM agrees it does not work. However, they supplied a long
explanation how it works under TSO/E, why it doesn't work under SystemRexx, and
a workaround based on Rexx STORAGE function. If I want the issue to be fixed, I
need to open a requirement for this.

Great! That makes sense. It's been so long since I've done any CICS,
I had forgotten about that DD. Now if I could just forget CEDA, CEDF,
CEMT, CSSF, CSSL etc. :)

Re: IGW01203E MEMBER xxxxxxxx EXCEEDS LIMITATIONS FOR PDS LOAD MODULES.

2018-11-14 Thread R.S.

W dniu 2018-11-12 o 17:50, Paul Gilmartin pisze:

[...]
Others:

o At times I've needed to resort to PDS rather than PDSE because of
   cross-plex sharing constraints on PDSE.

o Does PDSE impose a stricter constraint on number of records in a
single member than PDS? Perhaps 16Mi?

Yes. PDSE V1 had a limit on 15 728 639 records per member, which yields
approx 1,2 GB for RECFM=80.
For PDSE V2 the limit was increased to 2 146 435 071 records, approx.
171 GB.
PDS has no limitation for member size, but it is limited to 64k tracks,
so the biggest member could be ~3,8 GB - more than PDSE V1, much less
than PDSE V2.

BTW: there is poorly documented limit for PDSE size 16 TB or 178 956 970
tracks (~10,1 TB). Both are theoretical nowadays, because the largest
volume is 1 TB.

o Could an installation convert *all* its PDS to PDSE and never deal
with PDS again? Is this precluded only by the scatter-load limitation?
   What abour PARMLIB-type data sets?

ServerPac Installation Dialog can tell you which libraries cannot be
converted form PDS to PDSE. There really few of them, vast majority can
be converted, more and more must be PDSE. According to Dialog PARMLIB
has to be PDS.
