PCRE2 for z/OS version 10.34a (interim release)

2019-12-24 Thread Ze'ev Atlas
I've just published version 10.34a of PCRE2 (Perl Compatible Regular
Expressions)  for z/OS.  This is an interim release, while there is no change
in the core library, we've introduced the 'substitute' functionality into the
Rexx API.

The distribution is available on file939 of the CBTTAPE.org (currently, in the
'UPDATE' page)  http://cbttape.org/ftp/updates/CBT939.zip) and eventually will
move to the main page ( http://cbttape.org/ftp/cbt/CBT939.zip) in few months
The distribution includes a working simple API for Rexx and COBOL demo programs
that demonstrates the usage in COBOL and other LE languages.  The Rexx API
includes an Assembler program that could also be used to demonstrate the usage
from Assembler.

Re: Enterprise COBOL 6.3 and IBM Programmer Tools

2019-12-24 Thread Charles Mills
A wild guess is that a debugger will need significant upgrades to support
64-bit storage, a key feature of COBOL 6.3 as I understand things.

Optional licensed programs

Depending on the functions used you many require other software products
such as CICS, Db2, or IMS. For a list of compatible software, see the
Software Products Compatibility Reports (SPCR) site. From the SPCR site,
click Create a Report under in-depth reports, search for Enterprise COBOL
for z/OS, choose Version 6.3, and then click submit.

Aren't such management types, tracking an employee's browsing,
most likely to object to the employee's downloading content that's
not easily available to them?

Enterprise COBOL 6.3 and IBM Programmer Tools

2019-12-24 Thread Frank Swarbrick
Has anyone out there used the IBM programmer tools such as IBM Debugger and IBM
Fault Analyzer with Enterprise COBOL V6.3? I am wondering if we need to
upgrade these tools in order to use some of the new features of COBOL V6.3
(specifically dynamic length strings and Unicode fields).
