Dave, Try a D TCPIP,TCPIP,n,sock ...that's if ur TCPIP STCname is tcpip. You will see the waits, we see that on our system..while tcpip cleanups up the sessions Scott ford www.identityforge.com from my IPAD 'Infinite wisdom through infinite means' On Oct 31, 2013, at 10:28 AM, Hansen, Dave L - Eagan, MN dave.l.han...@usps.gov wrote: Barbara, You are correct Ma'am. Maybe Ed McMahon would have said it better. The total number of records represents all UPD sockets and all TCP connections, not just active TCP connections. So using the Conn on the netstat command you only get the active connections displayed. It does not display and connections with a state of closed or time-wait. What does this mean? It means 6 of the 9 records are not active and won't be displayed. Records that are not active get counted but do not get displayed. To see 9 of 9 you need to issue the command D TCPIP,TCPDFLT,N,ALLCONN,CLI=VPS*,FORM=LONG,MAX=* The way I understand it is that the 'missing' connections will 'soon' go away, anyway and have a status like TIMEWT. (But I don't really understand IP.) I have been told that it is described somewhere. Happy Friday, CROSS-POSTED to IBMTCP-L and IBM-MAIN. I think it's been a long week. I tried two commands with MAX=* and got different results. COnn and SOCKets look like they can take the same parameters. My Global Configuration Information: says MaxRecs: 100. If the report output is truncated, the n value specifies the number of records for which all output lines are successfully displayed. Rather - you might like to try this free tool from IBM The EZANS Tool has now been made a real tool (don't worry - it is still for free). You can go to the following web site to down-load the latest version, which supports z/OS releases from V1R4 through V1R12. The official name of the tool now is: The IBM z/OS Communications Server Network Utility Assistant http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24029203 Lizette -Original Message- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU] On Behalf Of Hansen, Dave L - Eagan, MN Sent: Friday, October 25, 2013 2:40 PM To: IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU Subject: DISPLAY TCPIP,,NETSTAT help Happy Friday, CROSS-POSTED to IBMTCP-L and IBM-MAIN.
