Re: z/OS ISPF Panel to include System Name

2022-02-25 Thread Bob Bridges
And all these years I've been dedicating to executing
MYHLQ.REXX(TSOSTART), which allocates extra libraries to SYSPROC and SYSEXEC,
enters the Edit and View panels (in case of unresolved sessions) and whatever
else I want done at logon each morning.

Decades ago I read my way through the entire set of on-line ISPF documentation.
Learned a lot from it, too. Then I went for at least a decade without looking
at it again. During that decade IBM added stuff to ISPF (ISRFIND, for
example), of which I stayed wholly ignorant because I knew it all. I suspect I
haven’t caught back up yet.

If you have access to the ISPF Configuration Table (see ISPF Planning and
Customizing) you can have ISPF default behavior display it:

DEFAULT_SYSTEM_NAME
Select to display the system name. The valid values are OFF or ON.
The default is OFF.

 Hi Peter,
We are on our z/OS v2r3 and it works and I recommend you check your ISPTLIB as
it might cause issues if it is not correct libraries since it holds ISPCMDS.

Look up the ZSTART ISPF variable. You can set it up with a list of commands to
perform each time ISPF starts.

You can also find an ISPF dialog that I wrote called ZSTART that makes setting
up and managing the ZSTART variable easy. It can be found on my website and on

Any chance some knucklehead removed it from your ISPCMDS command table?

If so, you can always add it back in on your private command table.

I'm sure there is, but I just use the title bar on my TN3270 app to display
stuff like that. Using Vista TN3270 from Tom Brennan Software, you can either
set the elements of the title bar statically, or can insert all kinds of
useful info such as the LUname or IP address you are connected to.
Of course this info is not coming from the system you are logged on to, but it
works on any kind of TN3270-supporting system, not just ISPF.

I imagine that other TN3270 apps have similar features, though the
implementation details will doubtless be different.

Of course this info is not coming from the system you are logged on to, but it
works on any kind of TN3270-supporting system, not just ISPF.

I imagine that other TN3270 apps have similar features, though the
implementation details will doubtless be different.

I'm sure there is, but I just use the title bar on my TN3270 app to display
stuff like that. Using Vista TN3270 from Tom Brennan Software, you can
either set the elements of the title bar statically, or can insert all
kinds of useful info such as the LUname or IP address you are connected to.
Of course this info is not coming from the system you are logged on to, but
it works on any kind of TN3270-supporting system, not just ISPF.

I imagine that other TN3270 apps have similar features, though the

[External Email. Exercise caution when clicking links or opening attachments.]

Hi,
Is there a way to replace the ispf panelid name on top left screen of zOS ISPF
Panel with System name.
- Is there a tool to include system name on top left or on right of the
screen when you are on primary panel or under any panels in zOS ISPF.
- I understand that you can have it on primary panel but am more interested
in other ispf panels.
Any information would be appreciated.Thank You in advance,Regards,Jasi Grewal.

You can edit the source of the panel.  You need to figure out where the panel
is coming from, in regards to your ISPF allocations (CLIST/REXX, logon proc)
