SMPe "rollout" of maintenance
When I obtain maintenance for an RSU (e.i. for Db2 RSU1902). I receive and apply, then implement first in one of our 2 sand boxes, leaving our 2nd sand box at our prior maintenance level. My question is, before I have rolled out the new maintenance, what if I need a one off PTF for the prior maintenance? Should 2 CSIs be kept? One for new maintenance and a second one for a prior maintenance level. report for dataset recall from tape
Hello, First let me clarify, i am not a storage person. I am a Db2 Systems Programmer. We manually migrated some Db2 tablespace datasets from DASD to tape(first stopping the object). Afterwards, the dataset was recalled but Db2 issued a data inconsistency error (00C20110). I have a PMR opened with IBM DFHSM (as per IBM Db2 support instructions). My question is this, what reports could I run to get documentation for IBM showing when the dataset was migrated and when it was recalled? "merging" 2 RSU levels
If I have RSU1905 received and Apply checked and prepared the holddata actions ready to go, but now want to receive and apply rsu1906; should I first implement rsu1905 then apply rsu1906? how do I only get the additional holddata? I just want to get the additional actions I need for the extra month and not have to go thru all the holddata again. thanks Bill -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
Re: "merging" 2 RSU levels
thanks for your response. but if I run apply check for rsu1906, wont that give ALL the holddata, and not the difference between RSU1905 and RSU1906? thanks Bill -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
Re: "merging" 2 RSU levels
Thank you both for your responses! I can see now when I receive RSU1906 it only shows the holddata for the sysmods not ye received, which is what I wanted. Got it now! thanks Bill -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN

SMPE separate CSIs
When I have separate CSIs for GLOBAL, TARGET and DLIB, do I need all these CSI datasets allocated to a GIMSMP batch smpe report job? Rexx calls versus branching
I am still learning Rexx. Can someone give a simple example of 1) calling a routine and returning. 2) branching to a routine without returning. I have a SELECT statement and from the last where clause I want to branch to a routine without returning. But it keeps returning and falling thru the end of the SELECT statement. thanks Bill -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
Re: Rexx calls versus branching
Thank you very much for your response. I also have a Rexx routine that has "call code 0" and call code 0 100" which seems to branch to a routine "code" for error handling? how are the 0 and 100 values processed? thanks Bill -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
Re: Rexx calls versus branching
My statement is as follows: SELECT WHEN ssid = "" THEN grp = "" WHEN ssid = " " THEN say 'subsystem not entered'; call code OTHERWISE NOP END I thought it was falling though when SSID was blank. But what I neglected was a null value for SSID. Thanks Bill -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
REXX LISTDSI error
I have the following rexx command: ADDRESS TSO 'CALL LISTDSI ( dataset.TXT NORECALL)' ADDRESS TSO 'IF SYSREASON = 9 THEN "HDELETE dataset.TXT WAIT" ELSE "DELETE dataset.TXT"' This keeps returning a RC of -3. processes the rest of the rexx successfully But then leaves the dataset "dataset.txt" as uncataloged. Why would it have an uncataloged dataset? thanks for any help. SMPe CSI maintenance levels
If I am currently at, say RSU18009, and am applying maintenance up to RSU1909, what if I suddenly need a PTF for the RSU1809 environment? I have one SMPe and CSI environment. If I have applied RSU1909 but have not rolled it out to all my environments, I really dont have an SMPe environment matching my prior maintenance level. thanks Bill -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN

Re: SMPe CSI maintenance levels
I apologize if this is a dumb question, I have 3 zones, global, target and dlib, so if I had an "x y and z" as in your example, would I then have 9 zones? x global target dlib, y global target dlib, z gobal target dlib? thanks Bill -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
